This is a gem of a hotel in a great location opposite the cathedral. The rooms are of a decent size and beds are very comfortable. I was concerned that we could have a noise issue, but I am delighted to say that the double glazing filtered out most of this. The hotel has a roof top terrace to enjoy and a roo. Service menu, mainly for drinks, at very reasonable prices I have stayed at a few hotels in alicante including the Melia and Euro. We would stay here again.

I loved the hotel. The location was in the heart of the old town and only 5 min walk from the beach. Room was stunning, clean and spacious. It had small balcony ovarlooking quiet street. Mini fridge was included in the price and filled up every day. Breakfast was also very good.

The location of this hotel is excellent, really central. And the hotel itself has old-world charm and is clean. The rooms are elevated basic (clean but nothing special beyond essentials and our air conditioner didn’t work very well). Sadly the front desk staff lacked warmth and felt unwelcoming (they didn’t greet us until we greeted them first). The price is fair, but the location is the main reason to stay here.

Stayed Sept 6–10, 2025 (confirmation 4532227461 via Booking.com).||Positives: The hotel is in a magnificent 17th-century building and perfectly located.||Negatives: Unfortunately, the property is misrepresented on booking platforms. Our room (101) was basic, tired, and unclean — definitely not “Boutique.”| • Cleanliness: Black mould in the shower and around the toilet; stained, dirty curtain.| • Lighting: No natural light, as the window opened onto an internal guest corridor. Curtain had to remain closed for privacy.| • Furnishings: No wardrobe or drawers, only a clothes rail above a fridge unit with an unfinished side. No dressing table, just a small shelf.| • Condition: Exposed ceiling beams showed damp, and reinforced steel girders were splattered with paint.||We complained and were offered only one alternative room, which was only marginally better, so we stayed in 101. Management was “unavailable” during our stay, and despite two follow-up emails, I have received no response.

From the moment I entered this sympathetically restored and beautifully decorated hotel, I felt at home. This is not easy to achieve as a solo traveller but the warm welcome and initial impression of my room dispelled any concerns. Nice touches such as the complimentary toiletries, water and soft drinks were appreciated. I had booked included breakfast and it was quality; locally sourced with delicious organic coffee which set me up for the day. The two women who were serving were so friendly and kind, thank you. The hotel also had a roof terrace and due to the perfect location had great views of the old town. Adjacent to the cathedral, it is only 5 minutes from the airport bus stop. Perfect.

We were last at this hotel pre-Covid, and really enjoyed our stay. However, on this visit we noticed that standards had dropped. The room looked in need of some upgrades. Bedding torn, towels thin, couldn’t drain the water in the sink. Small things, but they all added up. Most disappointing thing was the breakfast, which was a standard tray, same(ish) every day. Okay if you liked scrambled eggs, and a plate of cheese and meats, but for what we paid, we would have expected a choice.

First impressions count, and unfortunately this wasn’t a warm welcome. When we walked in, it felt like we had to say “um, excuse me, we have a booking” before anyone noticed us. No “welcome,” no “have you been here before,” no offer of a map or local tips — it all came across as unfriendly. The rooms themselves were spacious, which was a plus, but overall the experience was just average. The hotel feels like it isn’t loved or cared for the way it could be.
