A very nice small hotel, clean, off street parking, good and beautifully served breakfast, and generous checkout time. Bad Internet, though.

After reading some of the reviews I must admit we were a little apprehensive to stay here. However, we needn’t have been at all.||We stayed for two nights as part of a tour. The hotel is lovely, very unique, warm and welcoming. The staff are very friendly.||The breakfast was excellent and we had no problems with sleep!

My family and I went to visit Puerto varas last week. It is a beautiful and picturesque town. But, we had a very bad experience at this hotel. We were told to leave all our bags and belongings while we were going to visit the town. We were told by the driver of the tour to leave everything since it was a safe and tranquil place. We were not able to check in at the hotel as the driver recommended. It was for our sad and upsetting surprise that $800 were taken from our book bags. Nobody gave us an answer after we had called the tour company, the driver and the hotel. In summery, DO NOT TRUST ANYBODY AT THIS HOTEL!! And I will recommend to stay in another place. There are many more pretty, clean and trustworthy hotel in the town. I don’t recommend. Be careful !!

If you can sleep through dogs barking all night, you might enjoy this boutique hotel. Also be prepared for stairs up to the hotel and then up to your room. It has a nice sitting area and is surrounded by lovely gardens. The walk to the centro is easy and along the coastline.

This hotel is NOT to be recommended to any US tourist to Puerto Varas, it does not meet the standards of a boutique hotel as Trip Advisor categorizes it. I disastrous, totally neglected by management. The rooms here are just a plain rooms with a bed, no chair not stool to sit on, and needless to say about any table . I had to write notes to the owner on the window sills. They use rattan trays as night stands where one can not possibly clean it because of all the holes it has, so all the dusts are incrusted in the rattan, just disgusting. Room #9 has a really bad leak from who know when because the drywall and plasters are all scattered on the rooms floor and housekeeping has not reported such a horrible sight. It took a guest, myself to make such report since there are mold on the wall and floor is dirty and nobody cared. I developed an headache just staying there for one night because the place was booked solid. Everything looks old and seeing my dirty rooms I didn't even want to sit in any couches in their living room. There is very steep cement staircase to reach the hotel lobby, no ramp to pull your suitcases, and the wooden railing for this dangerous stairs is falling apart, all the rusty nails are exposed. The price to stay here must be well below the other "boutique" hotels for anyone wanting to stay at this dump.

Casa Kalfu makes a virtue of rusticity. Located nearly a mile east of Puerto Varas’s downtown, just a block from Lake Llanquihue, its design theme is bare wood. The room disposed of good Wi-Fi, a comfortable bed, an outdoor private garden with two chairs and table (unfortunately unused, as it rained almost continuously the two days I was there). Perhaps I was the first person to wake up in the hotel, because it took a while to get the hot water to run in the bathroom sink each morning. But after the sink got hot water, the shower’s hot water came on instantly.||||The staffers at the front desk were personable and welcoming, and the breakfast spread was adequate.

This is a historic building that was converted to hotel. It was very cozy and the staff was welcoming. There's common area with a bar and TV. The rooms also have TVs and are well kept. Bathrooms were clean. They serve a breakfast in the morning but we were up too late or too early for our tours.
