Santa Marta has many huge towering modern hotels but if you want to experience a smaller more intimate place then this wonderful historical architectural gem of a hotel is the perfect small cosy hotel. Situated in the old part of town within easy walking distance of most of the places you will want to see. Rooms are lovely, huge bed, and the pools although not huge are perfect for cooling off. The staff here feel like one big family and they are so kind and friendly. Food is good and service excellent. We also loved a cafe called Ikaro. We stayed for five nights splitting our trip with a challenging 3 day private hike with Leo who owns native xpeditions colombia and used the hotel for a relaxing weekend at the end. Don't miss the sunsets on the marina just a quick walk from the hotel. A fabulous family run charming boutique hotel.

I have stayed in many good hotels, but the service at this one was absolutely outstanding. Andrés in particular made our stay perfect. When I wasn't feeling well, he went to a pharmacy at 10 p.m. just for me to get some medicine. The next morning, several members of the team whom we hadn't met before asked if I was feeling better. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Andrés and the entire team once again for their excellent service!

The personal attention of Claudia, Andres and all the team there is unique. Good food and a beautiful atmosphere in a historic traditional house. The tranquility comes from the pools and fountains. The staff are all smiling, happy to help and knowledgeable. Each room is unique. Thoroughly recommend.

Incredible hotel with amazing staff. Impeccably clean, beautifully furnished, regal comfort in the rooms, and a staff that won't let you lift a finger. Absolutely fantastic stay with Don Pepe! For the reason behind not being 5 star: upon check-in while waiting for our luggage to be brought to our room, we asked to step outside for a cigarette. The response was very friendly, "Absolutely! You can just step out the front to the street to smoke, just make sure you dont take out your phone, and we'll let you back in!" As gorgeous as the hotel was, it's great proximity to the beach and Parque de Los Novios, the street and surrounding blocks to the East were all very dangerous. We could not pass a single corner after leaving the front door without being approached by microtraffickers, and even being followed back to the hotel from the very street the hotel is located. I do not recommend for solo travelers, nor families traveling with children!

There’s a rare magic to a place that feels both grand and deeply personal—Hotel Boutique Don Pepe is exactly that. Once a 16th-century convent, its transformation into a haven of understated luxury is masterful. The rooms, few in number but boundless in charm, are designed with a quiet elegance that wraps you in comfort. Ours, with its soaring ceilings and soft, earthy tones, became a private retreat where mornings began with sunlight spilling through antique windows, and evenings dissolved into the gentle lull of the Caribbean night.||The true heartbeat of our stay, though, was the terrace. At Bar Solymar, we lingered over glasses of aged Colombian rum, mixed into cocktails that tasted like liquid gold. The staff, attentive without intrusion, seemed to anticipate every whim—a fresh drink arrived as the last sip vanished, and a platter of local fruits appeared just as hunger stirred. Evenings blurred into starlit conversations, the sea breeze carrying the faint scent of gardenias from the courtyard below.||What stays with me most is the stillness. The way time seemed to slow in the cloistered gardens, where the only sounds were rustling palms and distant waves. The staff’s warmth felt authentic, their care woven into every detail: crisp linens turned down at dusk, a handwritten note suggesting a hidden beach, the way they remembered how I took my coffee.||This isn’t a hotel that shouts for attention—it whispers, inviting you to lean in. By the end, I didn’t feel like a guest, but a confidant of its secrets. I left with sandy shoes, a sun-kissed soul, and the quiet certainty that I’d found a place I’ll return to—not for luxury alone, but for the rare gift of feeling utterly, peacefully known.

Very safe, converted 17th century convent. It was just kind of a strange place. When you check in, they give you a tour of the hotel like it’s a museum (and it kind of is).Several strange pools that all seem like they have limited utility— one is right in the front lobby, and one on the upper deck is tiny. Should be charming, but kind of worn around the edges. Large room. Lots of stairs, they did connect us to a great tour guide for Minca, and they serve a nice breakfast.

The staff was friendly and helpful. The food at the restaurant could be better, not much choices for breakfast and a limited menu for dinner. lThey did not have whole wheat or multi grain bread. The toasts were barely hot but not toasted. The hotel lobby is nice but the hotel was in poor condition and needs major maintenance. The jaccuzzy was not cleaned, an very old model and the water was cold. The hotel as a small pool in the lobby in the middle of the restaurant (mainly for decoration) with a fountain with cold water and another pool on the 2 floor which about 2 by 3meters, you can only stand, you can't swim. The room we had was spacious but it only had one chair to sit on, the matress was soft and there was limited space for stroring clothes.

I can’t express how much my friend and I absolutely loved our experience here!! The hotel is absolutely stunning, the rooms are gorgeous and have beautiful high ceilings, and are very clean. The staff is exceptional, they are extremely friendly and helpful. The food was phenomenal as were the drinks. The location is also perfect for downtown Santa Marta, with many restaurants and services around the block. I can’t say enough good things! I hope to come back one day, all the way from Canada!
