Wonderful experience! From the moment we booked our trip, the hotel’s customer service and attention was five star. They arranged for us an off shore fishing excursion, which was amazing, and then cooked the mahi mahi we caught for dinner that night. And because we missed the amazing complimentary breakfast to get to the early fishing excursion they packed us a to-go one with hot coffee and OJ. The grounds are exquisite - you can walk to Playa Pelada or hop on a free shuttle to Playa Guiones. The hotel is located in the Reserva Biológica Nosara, so you’re surrounded by a lush red mangrove forest and will often hear howler monkeys when you wake (we saw several on the grounds, as well as a variety of iguanas), and still have breathtaking views of the ocean and mountains. If you’re feeling lazy and just want to relax the hotel’s pools and jacuzzis are the place to be - quiet and relaxing, with waitstaff checking on you for drinks and food. If you’re looking for a mix of luxury and access to wildlife and adventure, away from a super touristy scene, check out Lagarta Lodge. Highly recommend and hope to return soon!

The was another gem that we have visited during our Costa Rica holiday. We started with one night, but finally extended to 3 nights! Great rooms, which sometimes gives you the impression you are in a national park. Rooms very spacious and well equipped. It’s nicely located including some terraces to enjoy sunset (with good drinks). But also here the staff (reception, restaurants, cleaning) were all great. Highly recommended if you are going to Nosara!

I really can’t say enough about Lagarta Lodge! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by warm and friendly staff. The grounds are exceptional, so beautifully maintained and the view spectacular! The breakfasts were unbelievable; so many selections, all delicious. Dinners also amazing with the best sunset in Nosara! Our room was large, meticulously cleaned, and very comfortable with a beautiful view. I can’t wait to go back and have Will at the swim up bar make me a Mai Tai! Walking distance to beautiful beaches and a short tuk tuk ride to restaurants and shops. I attended yoga classes at Bodhi Tree only because I wanted to enjoy the outdoors. My only criticism would be turn the A/C off and open the windows in the yoga studio! Thankyou to all the staff for making our stay so special!

Lagarta Lodge, Nosara: A Review of Service and Setting Lagarta Lodge is an exceptional, upscale boutique hotel and nature reserve in Nosara, distinguished by its serene atmosphere, its breathtaking Pacific views, and its commitment to unparalleled service, earning it a remarkable 4.6-star rating. The property is frequently recognized by travelers and publications like Condé Nast Traveler as one of the best resorts in Central and South America. The lodge’s most striking feature is its perch high on a ridge, offering continuous, unobstructed panoramic views of the ocean, the Nosara River mouth, and the surrounding jungle reserve. While guests note the road to the top is admittedly rough, the stunning vistas from the infinity pools and the open-air restaurant are universally deemed worth the effort. However, the element that truly elevates the stay is the staff and the seamless hospitality. The lodge operates on a philosophy of sustainable and welcoming service, a culture driven directly by the Costa Rican management team. The dedication of General Manager Alonso Bermudez and his well-trained crew is palpable throughout the stay, as evidenced by your praise—the service is consistently described by guests as being "friendly and helpful" with a "nothing is too much trouble" attitude. This commitment to exceptional, high-level hospitality is the reason the lodge is able to compete with the most select resorts in the region and secure its impressive international accolades. The dining experience at the open-air restaurant is part of this elevated service, with guests raving that the food is "outstanding" and the fish is "so fresh." The lodge itself is a relaxing retreat, but it is the professional, attentive crew led by Alonso Bermudez that truly crafts the unique and memorable experience that defines Lagarta Lodge.

Amazing views. Well appointed rooms, clean and comfortable beds. Nice trails you can navigate around down to the mangroves and river. Lovely selection of infinity pools, plenty of sun beds and towels. Slight issue when we booked e boat trip which turned out to be great and well worth it, but poor communication and errors on behalf of staff meant we waited 50 mins with no explanation. Moral- should have been more specific with questions rather than just sit patiently!!|The Resturant had a great selection for breakfast. The evening meals in main Resturant very nice although little pricey, the upstairs lounge offers slightly cheaper and different dishes. All food very nice and freshly cooked to order

Lovely property with excellent service and great food choices. Very accommodating. |great views, wonderful pools. I was disappointed that beach access was difficult: long walk down hill (and up coming back) or 20 minute shuttle which only went at specific times. No accommodations on the beach so you had to come back to change clothes. Also bio reserve has dogs running every morning so "bye bye" birds. Hotel is challenging for older people.

Amazing service today - both from restaurant and spa - a gorgeous location and the day pass was a good option. The staff are really exceptional - both the front desk and the staff in the spa went above and beyond to have my stay be enjoyable. I will point out that I was disappointed the jacuzzi was warm, not hot as advertised and I was charged $5 each for 2 glasses of water - sparkling water in a glass I didnt expect to be charged for and felt I should have been brought a bottle or warned of the charge.

Lagarta was amazing — the food was great, the pools were incredible, the views breathtaking, and the staff so friendly and helpful. It exceeded my expectations. The only downside is the bumpy climb of a road to get there, but that’s just the way it goes. You have to go up high to get those kinds of views! Will definitely be back.
