This was a great place to stay for what we needed. We arrived in San Jose with the plan of getting the pink bus in the morning. At first, I was surprised by the room as it gives more of a hostel feel and it is older which is the only reason I knocked it a star (beds and pillows are old). BUT, and I hope you've read on, the service and breakfast made it worth it. We got to sit in the back which has tables and drank wine with the resident cat. Even though it's a happening neighborhood, it was really nice to relax in a quiet space. The breakfast was so good and the coffee was excellent. We had a peaceful night sleep and the pink bus picked us up at the front door the next morning.

We spent a night here. The bedroom was dirty. One of the beds had dirty linen we had to request change of bed sheets (they never offered to change us of room). The bathroom was dirty, there was dirt behind the toilet sink and toilet seat. Tiles in the shower were mouldy, rubbish bin lid was dusty, and there was dirt behind it. My friend found some hair in the bathroom as soon as we got there. And my other friend found a piece of toe nail on her bed (they never offered same one we asked for change of linen). The place is not ugly but clearly the housekeeper clean only where you can see, just a lazy job. We got better and cleaner accommodation in Costa Rica for same price or less. Disappointing.

I had to check out at 12.00 and wanted to take a quick shower before this after my morning run. Now, the hotel cut the water at 11.45 for an hour because of an emergency. Of course that’s completely understandable, but when I asked the receptionist if I could then take my shower after the reparations she told me without any remorse that I had to check out at 12.00 without exception. She also didn’t provide another solution or even attempted to think of an alternative. I deeply regret her lack of flexibility and compassion in this case since the lack of water was out of my control and deeply unexpected. Now I had to take my flight completely sweaty and dirty. It’s not about standards, I don’t blame anyone for the lack of water, but I would have expected some minimal degree of human decency and effort to solve this in an acceptable manner.

The staff at the hotel are super friendly. Breakfast is fabulous with really good coffee, we loved the way the coffee was filtered and served at the table. The rooms are relatively simple but comfortable. The low price for the room makes it a great value stay. There is no aircon but there was a cool breeze when we were staying. The hotel also serves brunch and there are many restaurants near by.

Right in a great neighborhood. Lots of bars, restaurants, and cafes nearby. The staff is great, the breakfast that comes with a stay is very satisfying, and the rooms are comfortable. It's a great experience especially for the price point. Thanks again!

It’s in a great location. The rooms are clean, large and well kept. There’s private bathrooms and hot water. WiFi works great and the staff are very polite and helpful.

Breakfast, Staff and location were good but unfortunately the rooms were nothing like in the picture, the bed was uncomfortable, the pillows were flat, the toilet didn’t flush, the shower didn’t drain and the shower mixer was broken. In addition a very loud train passed constantly until late at night and starts again at 5am. This is not a boutique hotel but a run down unloved property with no attention to detail.

Really great service from the friendly staff. We stayed here for 2 weeks, and rooms were decently nice, and the optional included breakfast was great! It’s a lovely, relaxed play to stay, I loved hanging out in the foyer and having everything in a walking distance. My two criticisms are: There is a train that frequency passes very close (with a horn), very early in the morning (from 5am) that always woke up us. And the shower in our room didn’t work very well. Overall, a decent stay
