We came to Braga for a wedding held outside the city, but we wanted to experience the downtown city environment. This hotel is right on the Avenida Central and just a short walk to shops, outdoor restaurants and historic sights. That’s the primary reason the hotel gets 3 stars from me. It’s an ancient building that was formerly an abbey and we were on the 3rd (top) floor. The roof leaks or has leaked because evidence of water damage was apparent. There was falling plaster in the bathroom where water damage had been repaired, and when it rained this area felt damp to the touch. I could see darkened areas around some of the patches that made me think there was mold present. The shower tiles showed mold in some of the grout crevices. ||We wanted to use the mini fridge to store some food that we had, but it was warm and apparently not working. When we asked about it on our way out to dinner, they said they would address it. When we got back, fridge was cooling but the motor must have been running warm because the cabin was hot. We left the cabinet doors open after this. ||Included continental breakfast was adequate, and eggs to order were available upon request. The breakfast location also serves as a restaurant but we did not dine there, opting instead for outdoor dining a short walk away. ||Staff was mixed. It seemed there was someone different at the desk every day, with some helpful but others standoffish. When we asked for dining recommendations, we were told simply that there were plenty of options in the central area. This was true but not very helpful. ||Taxis or Ubers cannot get to the front of the hotel since Avenida Central runs along the side of a green mall or walkway. The hotel is on the other side of the green area, and only delivery vehicles or emergency services can get over on that side. This is nice in that it’s quieter on this side without traffic. It’s not a very long walk to the roadway to get a cab or Uber, but be aware of this if guests are physically challenged. ||Overall a positive experience primarily due to the beauty and charm of the nearby attractions. We would not stay at this location again.

This is in a great location. It is a ten to twenty-minute walk to Santa Barbara Gardens, the Braga Se Cathedral, the Roman baths, and many more sites. The restaurant in the hotel is excellent; they prepared a special dessert for us when we were visiting with some friends from the United States. It is within walking distance of many excellent restaurants, Thai, Portuguese, vegetarian, Indian, and barbecue to mention some. ||The hotel's service is the finishing touch to the experience. It is efficient, professional, and friendly. They accommodate any reasonable request quickly and with pride. ||This Hotel is a Great Stay

The hotel’s location is perfect. There are a few parking spots reserved for hotel guests on the street right across. The rooms are clean. |HOWEVER: The room we stayed at was basic and the A/C was turned off. Maintenance immediately succeeded in turning it on but it wasn’t really providing cooler air - just noise. The furniture and settings in the room were functioning, yet old. Mixed feelings about this hotel. If location and cleanliness is what you seek, then you cannot go wrong in staying here. If modern rooms and functioning A/Cs are a must for you, then, perhaps not…

Perfect location in heart of city. Staff very helpful and friendly. We had a garden view room which had a large opening window to let air in and shutters to darken the room at night.|Breakfast lots of choices| Restaurant well worth trying for an evening meal top quality and as a residrnt you get 10% discount

Great hotel, in the historical centre. Stayed here for a few days, very nice comfortable room (but no heater, but a bathtub instead of a shower). Nice restaurant inside, with a discount for hotel residents, the restaurant is very good. And all this for a price comparable to competitors, who usually have much worse conditions

Nice hotel, simple rooms and bathrooms, but comfortable. Great breakfast with a good selection and good quality. Located in the heart of Braga. Friendly stuff. Good prices. Rooms need a bit of upgrading. Very nice breakfast room and outdoor area

We stayed here for one night. We had a gorgeous suite looking out to the park in front. Huge gorgeous bathroom with a spa tub and big plushy bathrobes. Outlets on each side of the comfy bed, making it so easy to charge our devices. We had dinner at the hotel restaurant, the Centurion. One of the best meals I’ve have in a long time with the best service I’ve experienced in ages. Truly a wonderful, impeccable dining experience. Some reviewers mentioned “dated” furnishings, which I don’t understand. It’s solid wood with beautiful fabrics and tasteful decorations. If you are looking for a modern IKEA hotel, this is not for you. The entire staff was helpful, welcoming, and there to ensure your stay is truly a 4 star experience. Muito obrigadinhas tudos!
