Hotel Breitenburg (Breitenburg, Schleswig-Holstein) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"On the vast estate dominated by the 19th-century Breitenburg Castle, alongside the 27-hole Schloss Breitenburg Golf Club, is a very modern luxury hotel by the name of Hotel Breitenburg. Built from the castle’s old stables, with a substantial contemporary addition, it comprises 80 rooms, each one decked out in stylish modern furniture and finished with lumber from the Breitenburger Forest. There’s a capacious and thoroughly equipped spa and wellness center, and the hotel’s restaurant, Johann, serves dishes crafted from painstakingly sourced local and seasonal ingredients, including venison harvested from within the grounds of the Breitenburg estate itself." - Tablet Hotels

Wow, stunning hotel, fantastic location, unbeleivable food and service. Beautifully restored buildings make for a great stay. Was there on business and boy they do it well. From coffee breaks with great snacks to dinner with amazing food. Sat in the courtyard toasting marshmallows, Cant wait to go back!

The perfect place to rest both body and soul. The staff is always helpful yet discreet, and the food is more than good. You'll love it especially if you're a golf enthusiast, but even if you're not, I highly recommend staying at this hotel.

On September 12th, I celebrated my 80th birthday there. Outstanding service, compliments to the reception and personel all over 👏. We highly recommended the hotel and the golfcourse. Special compliments and respect for the Rantzau family for the outstanding way they have developed the leisure part of the estate in finding the perfect balance between nature conservation and leisure opportunities. 👏👏👏🇳🇱💯👌Gerrit and Astrid 🇩🇪

Terrible. Even though on Google it says cancellation is possible we called 2 days prior to arrival so 48 hours to say that we are sick and we want to move the stay or cancel they told us it's not possible. We don't mind losing part of the money but the staff showed zero flexibility and also it doesn't say anywhere that we couldn't cancel. There was no information about it. Apparently I booked at a special low price weekend (which I didn’t know becasue I booked an anniversary weekend away so I could only choose that weekend and I paid 450 EUR which doesn’t seem like an extra low price anyway). We called and were told that we can’t cancel but we can find someone who will go instead. Of course becasue of the price we were not able to find someone who will pay us back and stay instead of us. We found someone who will go in the end but without paying. And when we tried to change the names for the booking we heard that we can’t change the names becasue I received an email. And only after I read the email we can call again and change the booking details to new guests. In the email they said I have to remove a bad review from Google and Instagram. Which I did. But I felt so bad about it the whole weekend. It’s not good to ask people to remove bad reviews. My original review said ‚careful cancellation not possible’ it wasn’t even that bad, but in my opinion asking guests to remove bad reviews is bad. If you don’t want bad reviews like mine change your cancellation policy. If Google and booking.com says it’s possible to cancel it should be possible to cancel. Simple.

Absolutely great experience. Went for my yearly time without phone and stayed 5 days. From service to rooms to spa everything was super nice. Especially the quiet rooms in the spa are outstanding - peaceful modern interior together with large window fronts overseeing the river and forests.

Read this before booking||||My wife and I stayed at Hotel Breitenburg to celebrate our anniversary. What was supposed to be a peaceful and elegant escape turned into a frustrating experience full of poor communication and, eventually, a very arrogant response from management.||||Booking issues and ignored messages||The hotel promoted a “3 nights for the price of 2” offer, but their website didn’t work. I contacted them via Instagram and was ignored several times. After repeatedly following up, I was told to wait for an email – which never came. In the end, I had to call and book myself, and I was charged for all 3 nights.||||Later, I was offered a voucher equal to the cost of one night – but was specifically told that it could only be used on hotel services like food, drinks, or treatments – not for the stay itself.||||So we used it in the restaurant (which was incredibly overpriced and disappointing – more on that below). But at checkout, a staff member told me we could have used the voucher toward the stay after all – and admitted that there’s often miscommunication between staff. That felt like a slap in the face.||||Terrible food and no transparency||The restaurant was cold, bland, and a total letdown. The “live cooking” station was missing a chef multiple times. As a Muslim, I also found it impossible to tell what food contained pork – everything was labeled only in German with no allergy or dietary icons. We left the restaurant with stomach pain and didn’t even bother with dessert.||||Management’s response? Accusing me of blackmail.||I sent a polite and detailed complaint. The messages from the Management team, was clearly ChatGPT (Robot) responses. When I pushed back and asked for an actual refund, the reply I got was:||“We will not allow ourselves to be blackmailed by you.” - Jonah Lawrenz (Management)||No discussion. No decency. Just that.||||⸻||||Final thoughts:||A hotel with a nice facade, but serious issues behind the scenes. If you expect honesty, respect, and service – go somewhere else.

Great hotel, very quiet location, in "the middle of nowhere". Depending on what you are looking for, this might fit your expectations / or not. This is a very nice hotel, but you need to take the car if you want to see anything else in the neighborhood. Great for walking and they are pet-friendly!

Very friendly stuff, everything’s works like a clock! Spacious clean rooms, very nice spa area and the food was delicious (even though obviously overpriced). And some negative sides: drinks were very expensive and wine list could be better, payment for parking is not reasonable. But overall it was great thank you so much :)
