The perfect island pub. Don't even think of trying to get a table without booking ahead!

You'll want to get a chalet as part of the Hotel Bruny Lodge. There is nothing more relaxing than sitting on the balcony as the sun sets, watching the white wallabies pass by. Plus, you can get takeaway from the Hotel to enjoy away from the hustle of the pub.

Went for dinner. Menu spoke of showcasing the local produce with an unusual sincerity, prices were average for a modern pub in a semi-touristy area, so my expectation was an okay meal and moderate contentment. Portion size was great, and the quality was fantastic. Staff were lovely too. Would definitely come again if I'm in the area

Lovely, vintage casual vibe where you can try local ciders and have some of the freshest seafood available. The seafood chowder speaks for itself. But it’s the atmosphere, combined with the food, that makes for a comfortable dining experience that feels like you’re home. Great spot to relax and enjoy all that Bruny Island has to offer on your way to seeing the coastline and the wildlife in this beautiful, rustic atmosphere.

Ordered the seafood linguine very ordinary. Not even a handful of seafood to be found in the dish more pasta than anything else. Friend had the seafood chowder very bland and again lacked seafood. Service however was very good and wide selection of alcohol. Recommend the Bruny apple cider.

Water views while you have your lunch. I had the lamb pie and my husband, the rissoles. Both were good meals. Only pub on the island so glad there food was worthwhile.

Omg the food is AMAZING. the best fish & chips i’ve ever had! Seafood linguine was also super yummy wif a slight kick to it. The hotel room was lovely, not too small and got everything you need (even a small kitchen area). Super clean and well maintained. Def recommend to stay for a night if you visit Bruny Island.

Service was great, the food wasn’t so great. 3 tiny meatballs passed off for rissoles was a let down especially when you pay $30 for $2 worth of mince and $2 of mash. The brisket was nice and the pub itself is a good spot. Maybe we ordered the wrong thing on menu, but we weren’t happy with it.

A very nice restaurant to have lunch at Bruny Island. We had group of 9 all seated together. Food was served quite promptly. My fish & chips was great, especially the crunchy/well cooked chips. Sticky date pudding was great too! Service was friendly.

An Unforgettable Culinary Experience on Bruny Island! If you're visiting Bruny Island and don't stop here, you're seriously missing out. From the moment we arrived, everything was exceptional—warm, friendly service, a stunning atmosphere, and food that absolutely blew us away. We started with fresh veggies that tasted like they were plucked from the garden moments before they hit the plate—The main course was equally impressive: I had the slow-cooked lamb, tender and rich, while my partner opted for the pizza and linguini pasta which was incredibly fresh and beautifully presented.

Yelp
We decided to check out Hotel Bruny as our third pit stop as we had read that they did cider tastings. Spoiler alert: they don't! Lame. We dropped in on a Friday afternoon (around 4:30pm). There's a restaurant and bar area. The latter has a pool table. Service was brisk and unhelpful. There's a couple specials up on a chalkboard ($28.00 to 32.00 AUD). Not cheap. The regular menu is just as pricey with oysters ($4.00 to 5.00 AUD each), starters and mains. Lots of drinks to choose from (wines, beer, cider and milkshakes). - Pagan Cider pear ($9.50 AUD) - this was our favourite of the three bottled ciders that we tried. Most flavourful and actually could taste the pear. - Pagan Cider apple & cherry ($10.50 AUD) - this one had a good finish. Cherry was subtle even though the cherry to apple ratio is 40/60. Just okay. - Mohawk apple + ginger ($9.50 AUD) - this had a good initial taste but unpleasant finish. We weren't big fans. It's a bar more for the locals. 2.5 stars.

Yelp
Ok but not great. Came here for lunch and it was rather dead. I was stunned that there was no table service. I had to place my order at the bar and pay before it was delivered to my table. I felt that not having service was odd for this type of establishment. The food portions were large but the quality was so so. My wife and I had the seafood platter for two. The white fish was good the fries were awesome the best I've had in a while. But the oysters were poor and very salty and the salmon was ok nothing great. My daughter has a vegetable pot pie and it was excellent. I loved the flavor and the pie crust was flaky. They had a large variety of wine by the glass but the pour were super small.

Yelp
We dropped in for lunch on our whirlwind day trip to Bruny Island and we were so glad that we did!! We ordered a seafood platter for 2 and it was amazing. There were 2 of everything - scallops, pink ling, squid, natural oysters, oysters kilpatrick, grilled salmon and hot smoked salmon with salad and chips. All the seafood was grilled and it was seasoned and cooked to perfection. It was such a pleasure to taste the seafood properly - instead of the flavour being masked by batter or breadcrumbs. It was the highlight of our day and good value at $60.

Yelp
The wife and I decided to drop in because we were staying in the cool Hotel Bruny pods you on the hill. The wife had the Tasmanian scotch fillet steak and I had the Hotel Bruny chicken parmigiana. Both were amazing. Great price for huge portions and all of the staff were friendly and helpful. Great food, great accommodation, great service and ambience. Thanks! We'll be back!

Yelp
update: a year later and a fresh set of smiling faces behind the bar. the food is still miraculous and the bruny island cider on tap is absolutely awesome. probably my favorite place to eat in the world! We stopped in here for an early bite with kids and were greeted with smiles and lovely conversation from Dave and Adam behind the bar. Dave spent several minutes explaining the kids menu to our little ones and they really enjoyed his light hearted banter. We enjoyed a delicious spread of fresh Tassie seafood that far surpassed our expectations. The meal was reasonably priced, and a chilled Tassie Sauv Blanc went down a treat. All in all, the meal was made even more enjoyable by the warm and personable service from all the staff. We will be back next time we are on Bruny

Yelp
We went here on a tour and it was huge portions and totally delicious and the cider tasting on top of everything was fabulous!

Yelp
Good modern pub menu, our dishes were both interesting and excellent, and the drinks list had some interest as well. Our top for next time - one dish and share. The menu might be hipster but the serve size is country pub - huge. If you're staying on Bruny, it's well worth the slow, looking-out-for-wildlife drive to Alonnah for dinner at the Bruny Hotel.

Yelp
Came for dinner, a booking almost essential. Meals are huge. And delicious. Had the wallaby spring rolls which were strangely delicious. Great service. A little on the pricey side but with options limited, worth it.
