This hotel oozes charm. Dark wooden floors and staircase. Attractive, well maintained grounds with a swimming pool. Friendly and accommodating staff. Crisp bedding, fluffy towels. Adjoining open air restaurant plays loud music in late afternoon, but promptly stops about 2100. $52.00 USD night. Highly recommended.

The worst hotel at its price level. Wifi is terrible. Nothing from the ads is real — no welcome fruit basket, no proper amenities. Do not be fooled by its appearance. First day, they gave me a room with a bathtub where the shower handle was embedded inside and couldn’t be detached. It barely reached chest height, so I had to sit down in the tub just to wash my hair. Second day, they switched me to a shower room, but the water pressure was so weak it felt like it was coming from a toilet spray handle. Way too many mosquitoes. Breakfast? Absolutely inedible. No real food. With how much they charge, the least they could do is offer real butter — but nope, only cheap margarine. The night reception woman was also one of the worst experiences — completely careless, no sense of service at all. The price is insane for what you get. Avoid at all costs.

The hotel has already a lot of excellent reviews but since I just got back from Mandalay I would like to write a more recent update. As Myanmar suffers currently from in my view pointless sanctions and travel warnings, a lot of hotels struggle to get by with just local travels. Therefore, it is even more impressive how much effort the staff puts into maintaining the property and its service level. The rooms are very comfortable - I admired the artwork and the craftsmanship. The bathrooms are very modern and offer a certain wellness feeling – with rose leaves filled bathtubs. Amazing.||For breakfast I got Shan-Noodles as an extra treat from the management. I had just casually asked if they are available and found them the next morning – even more impressive. ||Very convenient also is the beer-garden-like open air restaurant right next to the hotel with an separate entry from the property. Myanmar at its best. I regret that I could not stay longer, and I will definitely be back there.

Limited choice of 'tourist' accomodation in Mandalay so we opted for Red Canal. Our stay was very comfortable and the staff were so, so friendly and helpful. They suggested places of interest, organised transport and many other things. Couldn't have asked for better service.

very unique boutique hotel with exceptional design. the Stuff speaks good English, specially 2 girls in recepetion Mi and Thae which are extremely hulpful! And the kitchen manager. all the People in the hotel are nice and open, we loved them. Beds are very comfortable. try to book the room with wooden carvings, you will feel like a maharad or a Pagan King ;) we honestly recommend!

There aren't many hotel options at Mandalay at the moment so we stayed in this pretty hotel. Problem is, it's double the prices of most of the other hotels around Mandalay, the rooms are small and urgently in need of renovation. The pictures online really over-sell the glamor of the hotel which is nicely done-up but basically just an average building with a small pool and an average restaurant. Breakfast can be brought to the room but it arrived cold and was of middling quality. The bathtub had scrapes and the hotel forgot to turn on the hot water until they were specifically asked (due to lack of guests, I suppose). Staff, particularly restaurant staff, are super friendly and they gave us a good deal on an airport taxi- and until the tourism industry recovers, this may still be your best choice in Mandalay, at 2x the price it should actually cost...

A great escape from the outside. Rooms are gorgeous, the food is super tasty in a well designed Cafe, nice outside swimming pool, and the staff are friendly and really helpful. Honestly, Mandalay is dirty and unkempt so I find myself hanging around the hotel after days tours.

This hotel is absolutely overpriced for the service you get!||Rooms despite of being nice are old equiped, with mid range bed sheets and pillows. ||||No shower! only a bath in the bathroom and 20mn to get warm water in the morning! Toilet in the same small bathroom...||||Staff are nice but doesnt speak good english, ask you for an exact breakfast timing but are not ready to serve it on time; services provided were aceptable but again overpriced compare to what you can get by yourself.||Location is good nevertheless and you can go walking distance to some interesting places around.||Pool is small but nice. Surrounding Environnement is normal, Garden is beautiful.||In brief what you get in this hotel should simply be paid half of the price at least!
