Hotel Caju

A nice small hotel located on a charming street in the old town. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the breakfasts were good and healthy. Excellent coffee and fresh juice every day.||We were, however, a bit disappointed with the room, as the photos on the website did not fully match reality. The bed was a little too firm for my taste, and the pillows were lumpy.||That said, the location is very good, and one of the restaurants on the street, Americano, gave us the best dining experience of our trip.

Just WOW…..|This hotel is amazing, all the little things that make a huge difference…||Arrived and paid the hotel tax which is apprx 28 euros for the week. ||If you’re arriving late, the bell outside the door doesn’t work so tap on the window as you can see the hotel staff at reception through the cafe. Doors locked at night so you would use room key to get in. ||Hotel has modern “industrial” feel/look and it works really well in its location.||Our room was amazing, comfortable, cleaned daily…. ||So in Madeira this time of year it does get rain, there will be an umbrella in your room to use, again something so simple making a difference here! You get a glass water bottle that is full on arrival, once you drink it you can refill in the dispenser in the gym - makes sense in not using plastic. Kettle and tea/coffee facilities, iron and ironing board. Robes if you wanted to sit around in after showering with flip flops too! ||Breakfast here is included and it was amazing, table servicing and everything you choose from menu is cooked fresh. Staff very friendly and attentive. We had some trips booked, pick up was at 8.30 and breakfast service is between 8-11am. We asked if we could have breakfast earlier but they said you can pre-order your breakfast and it would be ready at 8am as soon as you came down, this was brilliant and it was ready as they said! ||All the things we asked for or discussed with the hotel staff was easy and they just couldn’t do enough for you - fantastic team! ||It was my 40th birthday during my stay, and when we got back from our hike there was a card and some chocs in my room wishing me happy birthday from the hotel! All these little touches really makes the hotel stand out….||Possibly one of the best “city” hotels i’ve stayed in!! ||Central location and lots to see and do on the door step, near plenty of restaurants, the tour busses, excursion pick up points etc…. ||Great work and big thanks to the whole team at Hotel Caju!

This place is a great find - a small hotel with stunning decor, amazingly friendly staff and beautiful, modern rooms. The hotel is on a pedestrian street with lots of bars, shops and restaurants on your doorstep, a great central location to walk anywhere in Funchal. There's a taxi drop off right by the hotel, or the airport bus drops you 5 mins away. A special mention goes to the breakfast/cafe staff - they were so genuinely friendly and welcoming, and the a la carte breakfast and daytime food was superb. My only suggestion would be to keep the cafe/bar open later so that there is a place for evening drinks. However, with numerous bars on your doorstep this is not really a problem! Thoroughly recommend, and will be going back.

A lovely, small hotel on the streets of Old Town, Funchal. We stayed here for a week and really enjoyed our stay. The room was clean, modern and spacious with a balcony view onto one of the side streets. ||The bed was extremely comfortable and the rainfall shower was great! The staff on reception and in the restaurant were always welcoming and friendly, the food during breakfast and lunch was excellent! ||A great location where you can walk about Funchal easily without needing a car. However, if you do plan to rent a car whilst visiting, there is a sister hotel nearby with underground parking which you can pay for to avoid the stress of finding a parking spot on the streets.||We would highly recommend staying here and would definitely consider staying again.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hotel Caju. The location in Funchal can't be beat; it's right in the heart of the centre and you can walk almost anywhere. The hotel feels quite new, the entire building seems to have been recently renovated. As a result it feels really modern and stylish throughout. Staff were professional and efficient. ||We stayed in the Junior Suite and loved it. The room was so spacious, modern and well appointed. There was a wrap around balcony with views across Funchal that I really appreciated. The bathroom was huge as well. Robes are provided along with a Nespresso machine for morning coffee. The hotel was so quiet and peaceful, we barely heard anything throughout our 5 night stay.||They offer breakfast though we only had it once, as we were up really early almost daily to get out to hiking trails. The breakfast was tasty the day we did have it, and plenty of options were available. On the mornings we were up early, we took advantage of the hotel's breakfast to go, which was pre-packaged boiled eggs, a couple of small sandwiches, some nuts and some fruit. This worked quite well for us for our early starts and we greatly appreciated this, as nothing on the island is open to source food elsewhere that early. ||We had prearranged parking, which as others have noted, is at the sister property, The Vine Hotel, about a 5 minute walk away. We didn't mind the walk to and from the garage at all. I will say though, on check in it was quite confusing - we had been advised to pass by the hotel first and drop our bags / check-in. But when we arrived we discovered there is nowhere to stop at all without blocking the road, which we ended up doing briefly. I dropped my partner and the bags and kept going, but I didn't know where specifically the garage entrance was. In hindsight, I would've appreciated some more information in advance regarding how this works. The other thing I will note about the parking, is that going to the car early in the morning (around 6AM), we never could figure out any way of getting down to the garage other than walking down the ramp from the street. Not a big deal, but it didn't seem right and was a bit of a hassle. ||That said, these were minor inconveniences and it wouldn't stop me from booking again. I will be back one day.

We really enjoyed our stay at the petite hotel Caju in Funchal. Situated on a narrow, pedestrian road, it was nice and quiet whilst in easy walking distance of the best restaurants, historic centre, peaceful gardens and the marina.|Our room had everything that we needed, including an iron and ironing board! We slept very well too.|It was a joy to have table service at breakfast and we loved the healthy options on the menu. |Very helpful concierge who pointed us in the direction of Akua for delicious dinners.|Would love to return one day.

Nice personnel. Peaceful little hotel. Location excellent, middle in the city. Good for couples. Not so good for families with Kids. Very healthy breakfast.

Great hotel in fantastic position in the old town of Funchal, Madeira. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, the staff are very friendly and helpful. I would recommend staying at this hotel.

Amazingly beautiful hotel!! Everything about it was so unique and nice! Also rooms were very clean and they had delicious breakfast, Very fresh options.
