Learning From Sardinia, Italy, Where Locals Live La Dolce Vita Longer Than Anyone Else | Vogue

"The most iconic structure is a pale pink hotel; the Aga Khan-built Cala di Volpe, which has hosted the Italian elite and royal yacht-set for decades—but don’t ask the tight-lipped staff for names." - Lilah Ramzi

You cannot beat Cala di Volpe's location or service. The building is a Jacques Couëlle masterpiece ad you are living in design history. The staff understand hospitality and go above and beyond. Breakfast is amazing. The olympic sized outdoor saltwater pool shaped like a lake is just fantastic. Gorgeous private beach accessible with the hotel's launch. Great bar and aperitivo watching the boats go by. I wish they didn't price gouge with the lunch buffet but fortunately there are lots of delicious places to try in the area.

I have mixed thoughts. |The hotel’s setting is pretty spectacular with wonderful views. We were lucky enough to have a room with a balcony which looked out over the hotel grounds and the sea beyond. The staff were friendly and the breakfast was fantastic, very helpful staff, delicious food (great variety), amazing views. The reception and bar staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was very comfortable and very clean. |However, the hotel is ridiculously expensive when you are there. Euros 37 plus for a cocktail. We were also charged Euros 15 for them to bring milk up to our room for tea (surely that should have been provided anyway with the tea and coffee making facilities). Room service was extortionate. Yes, it’s a luxurious hotel which is going to be pricey but their prices were too much, I thought. But then maybe they are not trying to entice people like me to the hotel! My partner and I are very well travelled and have stayed at numerous luxury hotels throughout the world but their prices left a bad taste in my mouth. The hotel is nice but not that nice!

One of the top five hotels I’ve stayed at in my entire life. They’re so attentive and the rooms are spectacular. The beds are comfortable. The linens are of the highest quality and the decoration is beautiful. The grounds are expensive and everywhere you go everybody is so nice. The breakfast is over the top, there are so many choices of options and like every place in Europe, the fruit is always ripe and delicious. I love all the choices of cheese and meats. I would love to spend several weeks here.

Amazing ocean gym and private harbour and pool. The hotel needs a make over to become leading again. "The fresh juice" was from last day, staff were help full. The entrance needs a paint. A super five star - but not a luxury class hotel. Worth a lunch visit.

My daughter and I recently spent 8 days at this amazing resort hotel. We have stayed at many luxury hotels but I can unequivocally say the level of service at Hotel Calla Di Volpe was exceptional. Far too many instances to mention, but no detail was overlooked and the hotel staff was simply amazing. ||To those reviewers who complained about the room cost, or the 40 euro drinks- don’t go. It’s a luxury resort and you simply get what you pay for. I am certain there are plenty of other less expensive options on the island. ||I highly recommend this property to anyone looking for an amazing experience, attentive staff, and wonderful food.

Beautiful hotel, friendly staff. For a average price 1500+ USD per night, they should really pay more attention to the gusts. The bar and sushi restaurant plays insanely loud music until 12PM EVERYDAY! I live in NYC and I never had issue with street noise outside window, but this is totally another level. I feel like my room is right above a night club. I can clearly hear the lyrics from my bed. Yea that’s how crazy the noise is, and this happens EVERYDAY!

Beautiful hotel. Kudos to Giuseppe at the bbq restaurant/ breakfast. Giuseppe was always glowing and super friendly and made our meals much more enjoyable with his excellent service, energy and charisma. One con of this place is it is extremely expensive (15 euros for a water!!!)

Absolutely disgusting experience. You spend thousands of dollars to be treated terribly. My boyfriend, who lives here, came to visit us and grab drinks at the bar. He was wearing dress shorts as it is 90 degrees outside. 2 people come up to him and tell us that there is a hotel dress code and he needs to go back to the room and change or leave. Keep in mind he is wearing nice dress shorts with a burberry belt. My dad, who has full length pants, and I went to grab drinks for us and bring it back to a table in the corner of the hotel. More hotel workers continue to swarm us and cause a complete scene, even though we said we were leaving in 20 minutes. I’ve never heard of a hotel dress code, especially against dress shorts. STAY AWAY. ITS NOT WORTH YOUR MONEY.
