Hotel california Positano

What a beautiful hotel. Stunning! And in such a great position, albeit it's a bit of a steep walk up the hill after a long day at the beach right down below, but once you're up there, it's stunning, with views over Positano. With a gorgeous deck to sit and relax, eat or have a drink overlooking the water, boats, views of Positano, and amongst the vines and bougainvillea and lemon trees, and the HUGE rooms, which were so comfortable, with lots of space for luggage, and a tea/coffee facilities, free wifi, ensuite, and a balcony overlooking the same incredible views, well this hotel is definitely worth a stay. Shops and bars and restaurants right outside, a short walk down the hill to the main beach, but there's so much to see on the way down, and close enough to walk up towards Cafe Positano, and also on the doorstep of all of the best shops, this is a great location. Valeria and the staff were all fantastic, and so helpful, they booked our car, explained how to get around, and were just friendly all of the time. The only issue with this room is the shower is inside a bath, so a little tricky to get into and very small and slippery, so this may be a little tricky for many. But the room was airconditioned, quiet, comfy and spacious and beautifully decorated. No complaints here - we'll be back!

We spent 6 nights at the hotel and this is our 2nd time here. I must say the Staff are Primo along with the owner John and Niece Maria they always impress every time we come. The view from our room was spectacular. Probably the best view in Positano. The rooms are spacious and Very clean. The onsite restaurant, Ristorante Don Giovanni, is so good we ate there every night. Wherever we travel we always seek out the best food so it speaks volumes that we didn’t want to go anywhere else

Very beautiful hotel in a great location in Positano. The staff was friendly and welcoming. The room was beautiful and the view was great of the ‘pyramid of Positano’. The only thing I will say is the bed was very stiff and the pillows very flat. The breakfast was also underwhelming, mostly just croissants and if they were out for the day towards 9-10 you won’t get anything to eat. Also the wifi didn’t work at all, but when we went down the restaurant and for breakfast it would connect. Overall we had a nice stay there and this is one of the more affordable places to stay in Positano.

Fantastic hotel, couldn’t beat the location and the views are incredible! We were in room 61 which we like to think was the best room as we had a lovely corner window that showed the town and a balcony that viewed the sea and town. Staff were exceptional, the room was lovely and clean and the shower was huge! Breakfast was simple but lovely, couldn’t fault this hotel!

Perfect location! Staff went above and beyond my expectations. Extremely clean and comfortable. The restaurant Don Giovanni's is exceptional!! The view has to be the best in Positano. 20 out of 10!!! Thank you Albergo California I will always come back to you 💙

The staff was so nice, helpful, and attentive. The location is centrally located and the views are stunning. We enjoyed the fabulous breakfast overlooking the water. I can’t say enough good things about the staff — they really helped us when we forgot something at the hotel.

My husband and I stayed here for three nights and we absolutely loved it! The location couldn’t be more perfect, the best view of Positano from the rooms and from the terrace. The rooms were very clean, felt like out of an Italian movie, supplied everything we needed, and the hotel was very quiet and restful after a busy day in Positano. The staff was very nice and accommodating, everyone helped with a smile. Breakfast food was delicious, loved all the options, especially the fresh squeezed orange juice, no hotel had one like it. Loved that I could order a decaf latte, most places didn’t know what I was talking about. They had a lovely bookshelf filled with different options for guests. We would definitely stay again, our balcony view was to the best, we loved our stay 1,000,000/10.

Couldn't end my trip in Positano any better this hotel room was the best!!!! Super spacious and the view was to die for. Everyone was so nice and welcoming!! When I go back to Positano I am definitely going to stay here again!

Just came back from there. Second time at this place and it is awesome. Very close to city center and underground parking. The staff are like family, very kind and helpful.

Beautiful place with a great restaurant and helpful, friendly staff. The room was the most comfortable of all the hotels I stayed at during my trip to Italy. The balcony overlooking the city and water made the room perfect for a place like Positano.

Service with a smile and private balcony views to die for from the room. Food is 5 star to go along with the room.

Our recent stay was awesome and exceeded our expectations for the rate we paid. The hotel is about a 12-min walk from the port, if you know where you are going. Naturally we got lost so it took us about 25-min. Once you get off the ferry, PAY the 10 euros to have the port take your luggage to your hotel. It's worth it. There are no taxis or cars at the port, so you will either have to walk your luggage to your hotel, or pay for the service (very worth it). About the hotel itself, let's start with the staff which were SUPER friendly. John was the main person we interacted with, and I forgot the two men that helped with our bags (he's buff) and also forgot name of guy that provided us with wine glasses and an iron for our room. The hotel is not too far up, but it's not very low either. I think it was just perfectly located for us to get our steps in, but not so high up where we were dying every day. We arrived early but our room was ready, so we were able to check-in and make it on time to our lunch reservation. Breakfast was included in our stay. Wasn't the best but wasn't the worst. We kept it pretty simple with fruit and a light pastry, then made our way to lunch after a nice walk. One thing that is lacking is a gym, however it's not the end of the world; I climbed many stairs to make up for the difference of not exercising. The room is pretty big; I mean I am not used to this in Europe and I did get a room for three, but still, I could've easily had four or maybe even five in there with comfort. The décor screams vintage but in a nice manner. Aside that, it was very spacious, had a balcony, safe, and fridge. Also note there are quite a few mirrors outside the bathroom which helps when you have two girls getting ready. No pool that I know of and complimentary wifi worked fine. Overall, a great hotel and I would stay there again!

Incredibly friendly staff that made us feel very welcomed and comfortable. Excellent continental breakfast was served each morning which included a variety of fruit, pastries, meats, cheeses, cereal, and beverages with ample seating out on the veranda. Hotel is conveniently located off of the main road and offers amazing views of Positano, especially from rooms located on floors two and above. ​

Quite simply the most charming and wonderful hotel I've stayed in. If you're visiting Positano I would actively encourage you to stay here. It also has on-site car parking underneath the hotel, which is a real bonus if you've rented a car during your time on the Almalfi Coast. Ask for room 59, 60 or 61 for the most incredible views of Positano bay. Breakfast included is a really good selection and a great terrace that it's served on. The last mention goes to the staff in this hotel, the best hotel staff I've ever encountered. They have all the time in the world for you and love to chat and get to know you and help you get the most out of your stay in Positano. I could not fault there service!

This establishment truly is as good as it gets. The view of the sea is spectacular, the service is personal and friendly without being overbearing. The rooms are clean and well air conditioned. We only ever ate breakfast there, which was perfectly nice on the veranda. Prices are reasonable. This place was recommended to me and it made the trip all the better!

Wonderful location. Stunning views. Staff goes above and beyond. Family owned and they take care of you like family. Beautiful terrace for breakfast or drinks. Breakfast is good. Rooms are spacious and have balcony with sweeping sea views. Air conditioning. Parking onsite. Right in town with many shops and restaurants nearby. Beach is 5 minute walk. Bus stop connection up hill 5 minutes. Dont miss out on this great place!
