This certainly was not a four-star-hotel. Maybe in the old days, it was. Now it's old fashioned hotel with old furniture which is falling apart-like the chair in our room. The room was clean and the bathroom had a bath which was very nice! The major downside was the heating system which was too loud to use while sleeping. We turned it off and slept in a really chilly room. The restaurant was fine-with standard selection of breakfast products. It had a lovely view over the bay. Overall, I must admit I'd not recommend this hotel to anyone.

I returned 2 days ago from the Hotel Calypso after a lovely 2 week stay and I can't wait till I go back again...I have already booked for next May. The hotel is beautifully situated on the bay with many restaurants lining the harbour. When I arrived I was delighted to find that I had been upgraded to a room with a sea view. The room was quite spacious and I slept very well in a big comfortable bed. The view from my balcony was amazing and it was very nice to find there was a small fridge in the room. The buffet breakfast was very good with both continental and cooked and there was always a plentiful supply of fresh fruit. The rooms were very clean and were made over every day. The view from the roomtop is brilliant....there are plenty of comfortable sun loungers. A big thank you to all the staff who were always very friendly and welcoming, especially Alexandra and her two colleagues in reception who were only too happy to help.

This hotel is a great beach side hotel. Expect ceramic floors and clean rooms. They could be renovated but they are not worn out and are kept very clean. The staff is super friendly and helpful and the hotel services and amenities were just what I needed. The breakfast also offers a great selection and you can eat on the terrace facing the bay. All around great experience!

Positives: the location and cleanliness | |Negatives: breakfast was basic and bland at best with limited variety. The same breakfast options were served in a row. Our room had no view whatsoever. In fact the room overlooked other balconies at close proximity and rubbish beyond. Only one TV channel was working in our room.

I returned yesterday after a wonderful 2 weeks solo holiday at the Hotel Calypso. On arrival I discovered I had been upgraded to a room with a seaview....the view from my balcony was really lovely. Yes the rooms are a bit dated but extremely comfortable and very clean. Housekeeping was in every day and towels were replaced regularly. Reception staff were extremely helpful and a big thank you to Alexandra for all the advice. Breakfast was plentiful with lots of fresh fruit available. The hotel is right on the harbour which is lined with restaurants. The freshwater pool is on the rooftop and there are plenty of comfortable sun loungers available...the view of the bay is amazing. I really don't understand the negative comments from people....I can't think of a single one. Thank you everyone for an extremely relaxing holiday...I am now about to book a return visit for spring 2025.

Booked with Jet2, there last week offering the hotel until next season. The area is in winter wind down but still plenty to see and do. ||The rooftop bar area is only open from 12-1900 and was extremely quiet. Staff were lovely and I rate them all highly. Food we had occasionally for lunch was of a high standard and nicely served. ||I agree with some other reviews the whole of the outdoor pool area needs a revamp. However the toilets and indoor bar were of excellent quality. ||I bet in the summer with the BBQ area open and the music playing it’s a delightful place to spend the evening. Views are amazing. ||Breakfast was efficient and fairly high standard. Poached eggs by request were always superb. All fruits and pastries of a high quality. Bacon is the typical European fare. Never left feeling hungry. ||We had two second floor rooms next to each other. Both differed in size due to location in the building but both recently renovated and the cleaners were very good. If I had to mark down then the patio furniture could do with a new coat of varnish. Air con didn’t blow ice cold but the temperature was fine to sleep in. Bed was comfortable enough. Tv was a decent size with hdmi ports so you could connect an Apple TV box or amazon fire stick for content. ||With the patio door open and the fly screen across you could listen to the chilled vibes of the street below. It didn’t keep us awake at as silent by 10pm most evenings ||All in all a lovely hotel and location. I would highly rebook again.

The room was ok but overlooked some derelict wasteland at the back of the property. Good choice at breakfast.Despite letting travel agent and hotel staff know that I was a vegetarian the evening meal was very unsuitable, choice of three starters, 2 main main course options fish or meat! was offered spaghetti in tomato sauce on 5 of the & meals. Would suggest if you have a vegetarian or vegan in your party you look else where

Pool a litlles small but lovely sunbeds. Room great, bed comfortable. Balcony roomy and relaxing. Staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast great, even for a pescatarian, not sure about a vegan, though I think they will cater for special dietary requirements. Only criticism was inadequate lighting on stairs and in the room. Lovely hotel.
