The hotel is in a great location if you were interested in staying in the Christiansted area. It's located right by the Caribbean Sea and there are many restaurants and bars within walking distance. The hotel restaurant was actually very good. We were able to walk to the nearby national park and explore the town. The only downside was that the elevator was out of commission during our stay (all 3 days) and we had to carry our suitcase up to the 3rd floor. Not sure what they would have done if someone was handicapped or they had a large suitcase. The pool was ok. No free breakfast but there are many options nearby. Would stay here again if we came to the island again. The room was clean and the bathroom was not too small. Taxi was $30 for 2 people from the airport.

We booked this hotel due to its location and reviews I contacted them when I booked to make sure they had an elevator due to my husband and I have limited mobility he uses a cane. When we arrived we were told elevator was out and our room was on third floor. They did move us to second floor and got someone to help us some getting our luggage up the steep stairs to the second floor. I read today in a review that the elevator was out in March so not sure how long it has been out and they have no idea when it will be fixed. This is definitely going to affect our vacation in a bad way. First and only time here and I do not recommend this hotel if you have mobility issues.

The Caravelle Hotel is in the perfect location right on the boardwalk! So nice to walk out everyday and be on the water enjoying the beautiful sights.||The staff were all kind and helpful. I look forward to staying here again!

This hotel is in an excellent location. It’s right on the boardwalk with a restaurant, bar and dive shop on premises. Our room was located directly overlooking the waterfront. It was clean and quiet and the bed was comfortable. You only have steps to walk to get on a sailing excursion or scuba trip. The boardwalk is one restaurant, bar or shop after another. ||Everyone at the hotel was friendly and helpful. The evening clerk at the front desk, Hillarine Joseph, was the highlight of our stay. She would give us a big wave and hello each time we walked passed. We enjoyed chatting with her and looked forward to our visits with her. We felt like we were leaving an old friend when we checked out.

On a recent trip to St. Croix from New York, my family and I had the pleasure of interacting with Hillarine, the front desk agent during our stay at the hotel, and she truly made our experience memorable. We were a large group traveling for an unfortunate occasion, and from the moment we arrived, Hill greeted us with warmth and compassion. She was incredibly attentive and went above and beyond to ensure that everyone in our group had everything they needed. Whether it was coordinating rooms, offering recommendations, or making sure all of our requests were handled with care, Hillarine made everything so much easier for us. Her hospitality and genuine concern for our comfort made a difficult time much more manageable. We truly appreciated her help and the thoughtful way she took care of everything. Thank you, Hillarine, for making our stay as smooth and stress-free as possible!||From the Rice Family

Google
First timers to the island, so we did a lot of hand wringing and reading reviews before committing to a place to stay. Have to say we were astonished at how well run and nice this hotel was. Onsite secure parking, a beautiful pool area overlooking the boardwalk, super easy access to multiple restaurants, shops, and more. It was clean, they had endless hot water, the oceanfront rooms were very affordable - we will absolutely be back!

We had a wonderful stay at the Caravelle Hotel. The location could not be better, right on the boardwalk with all the bars and restaurants. The staff were very friendly and helpful especially Hillarine and Louis Patrick.

Yelp
To whom it may concern I would like to say thanks for a good stay. It could have been cheaper an some meals could have been included. Meals in the area are very expensive. As native islanders we should have been offered some kind I'd deal. My aunt was born an raised so was my grandmother who's grave I came to visit. Thanks coming back next year. Hope you offer some better deals then. Thanks AMM

Yelp
Don't bother! They are not done renovating! The checkin process took us a whole hour, we got a room that looked nothing like what's was on their website! There's no parking ! And no pool towels! I mean we made reservations 2 months in advance for you Jody to have pool towels for your guests! The whole experience has been a disappointment! GO ELSEWHERE!

Yelp
We were very excited to be spending a week in St. Croix for work. We have stayed at other properties on the island in the past and loved them, but unfortunately they were cost prohibitive this trip since my employer was covering the hotel. Our group had heard decent reviews about the Caravelle, and since we had a little down time from work, we figured the location would be good. The check in process was smooth and convenient, and the staff was very courteous upon arrival...we were off to a good start! Our stay got more and more disappointing from there...and by the end of the week, we couldn't wait to check out and leave the island. When we got to our room, upon opening the door, we were overwhelmed with the strong, earthy odor of black mold. We reluctantly entered the room, trying not to be too picky. We understand the economic conditions on the island and the pandemic situation has made it difficult for everyone, so we tried to get through it, hoping that the issue wouldn't be too bad. Within 2 hours of staying in the room, and after experiencing respiratory issues and nausea, my wife and I both couldn't take the mold anymore. When we went to the front desk to report the issue (different front desk staff than when we checked in), the response we received was one of disbelief as though we were fabricating the issue. They sent another employee to inspect the issue, and he quickly agreed that the mold was present and a problem. The front desk staff agreed to move us to another room...so we repacked our belongings, moved to the new room, and unpacked again. This wasn't exactly how we had hoped to spend our first afternoon/evening on the island, but we were determined not to let it ruin the day or mood. Later that evening, I learned from a colleague who was staying in another room on the same floor of the property that his room too was so bad with mold that he, too, had to change rooms. Apparently the entire 2nd floor was having the same issue, and in spite of the fact that they were unable to remediate the mold problem, the hotel was continuing to check guests into those rooms. The new room had a mold issue as well, but not as severe as the previous room. So, again, we tried to move past the issue. The next day, after receiving housekeeping service, we noticed that the "Damp Rid" moisture remover bag was completely full of water, so we asked if they could replace it. It took a long time for them to find one, but eventually one was located and I only lost 30 minutes to that little adventure...it seems as though they are only for show and not really replaced very often. The replacement bag was nearly full before the end of our stay 5 days later. A couple nights later, while returning to our room in the afternoon, we noticed that the hotel had been working on pipes on the 3rd floor...extensive work that involved cutting into the walls to expose the pipes in question. We didn't think much of it until a couple hours later when attempting to take a shower, and there was no hot water. At that time we also noticed that the tap water in the sink was orange...a condition that we assumed was related to the pipe work and hoped it would resolve. After five minutes of flushing, still orange and no hot water. I went back to the front desk to inquire about the issue. The front desk staff reported that she had no idea about the issue, but acknowledged that they were working on the pipes earlier that day. She told us she would report the problem to maintenance and get back to us. After about 45 minutes of hearing nothing and the problem persisting, I returned to the front desk to get an update. She advised that the problem had been reported, but no idea on how long the problem would persist. She offered to move us to another room, back in the second floor...but obviously due to the mold down there and the lack of desire to change rooms again, we just stayed in the room with no clean or warm running water in hopes they would figure out the problem the next day. Apparently they figured out the problem...when we woke up the next morning, the water seemed back to normal. We learned later that day, that the people working on the pipes earlier forgot to turn the hot water back on. For our problems with this issue, the hotel offered a 10% discount on one night of our stay...which I guess saved my employer $18 for our problems. The last 48 hours of our stay were uneventful...thankfully. However, I can't ignore that both my wife and I have an annoying cough that we didn't have when we arrived here. Next time, we will have to find another hotel option.

Yelp
It's so wonderful to be able to stay in downtown Christiansted! With the seaplane close by and restaurants every which way, you don't even need a car. The rooms are spacious and bright and having an elevator makes getting to your room easier with luggage. The lobby is open and airy and the pool is a perfect oasis from being in the city and not having to get sandy/salty at the beach. Definitely worthy of a stay, especially if you've got things to do in Christiansted.

Yelp
First time staying here with my fiancée and we booked last minute for the same night (9:00pm) and I was glad that they had availability on a holiday weekend. Located in the heart of Christiansted town, guests of the Hotel Caravelle have access to various local dining options, clothing, jewelry, bars, scuba, snorkeling and fishing excursions. There's lots to see or do and all within 5-10 minutes walking distance. The historic Fort Christian is also a walk around the corner, you can enjoy a drink while strolling the boardwalk and you can take a quick ferry ride over to Hotel on the Cay to enjoy swimming at a beach. The hotel itself has a beautiful lobby and an inviting tropical decor. The staff were very friendly and helpful, making sure to accommodate our inquiries and requests. Now that I've mentioned all these good things, it's time to review the room itself. We got a room on the top floor facing the neighboring parking lot and that was to be expected for buying a room last-minute. What I did observe is that the room was showing its age, wear and tear and lack of upkeep and maintenance. The ceiling had chips in it, as well as the tile in the bathroom, the wood-board floors were warped and rust and water-stains were evident in the shower. I also heard a mosquitos in the room. PROs: Cold A/C with remote, Cozy King Bed, Free Wifi, Hot Water, island decor, felt safe, Mini-Amenities and Electric Sockets strategically placed for convenience. If there's a parade or celebration in town, you WILL hear the music and the celebration and commotion. But I do like how they will Shuttle you to your car and there's also a mini-casino downstairs too. All in all, for double-occupancy, paying under $180 for a last-minute room was 'okay'. I was just disappointed at the lack of room upkeep and the overall cleanliness. I think I would have expected that to come from a Motel 6 for $80. Still not bad for the location and worth having easy access to everything.

Yelp
The hotel itself was pretty nice. Clean, and well kept rooms with all the emendates you would expect. $25 a night for parking though (which should be included with the room rate they charge). The other issue we had is that they charged us $200+ a night and made no mention of the pool being closed. Pretty disappointed in that aspect. SUPER strict on check in and check out times too ......Overall though I would recommend this place.

Yelp
Reason: Quick getaway Location: great spot, everything is right there. Hear water crashing from the windows. Hotel: older with dated material, but not an all inclusive style either. Staff: very friendly and helpful. Rooms: clean and basic. We came here and wanted a nice room that we could use while in town, didn't stay in room much but to sleep. We loved it.

Yelp
The location for this hotel is absolutely amazing if you want to get to great restaurants or go scuba diving or go to Buck Island. But the actual hotel is pretty dingy, and I wish we could have stayed somewhere nicer. But we booked last minute, so we were lucky to get a room anywhere on St. Croix. Pros: - convenient location - the water in the shower stayed hot as long as we needed it, consistently - tile, no carpet - fridge/freezer - the curtains did a good job of blocking out a lot of light but also opened easily - pretty decent free wifi - good sized room for a reasonable price - huge bed (king sized) with 6 pillows - plenty of storage space - vending machine very close by with Dasani that took credit cards - ATM very close by - front desk lady was super helpful for getting us a taxi/tour guide very last minute - beautiful lobby with lots of outdoor furniture Cons: - smelled pretty bad if you didn't air out the room by having the people cleaning your room leave it open - serious mosquito problem, probably because they left the room open for so long while cleaning it - not enough big towels - no blanket, just sheets -- super weird, even for the tropics - had trouble regulating the temperature in the room and couldn't open the sliding glass door (bolted shut) to help fix it - not as clean as I'd like (okay, I might be a bit picky) - bed was hard - loud -- could hear the neighbors' conversations and the casino music and the city - the shampoo and conditioner were empty or the dispenser was broken, not sure which

Yelp
This is an update: After talking to the TRUE Management of the hotel, we were given the Royal Treatment for the remainder of our stay! The Casino Owner - {Lance G.} (and part Owner of the hotel) and the Casino Vice-President - {Ted S.} were extremely helpful and instrumental in changing our views of, and experiences with, the Hotel Caravelle. Karel was sent home! The front desk staff (Ms. Hillarine J., especially, and Christina H.) as well as the support members did an outstanding job of undoing the damage that Karel tried to do. In short, our stay here was amazing! This was my original post: Terrible service if you are looking for a peaceful stay. The staff avoids answering questions directly and, if there's a problem, they pass it on, or worse, say "there's nothing I can do." I'm STILL going to try to get our money back and switch hotels so that we can have some peace and quiet. I'll see what happens from this point forward. As of right now, if I could give NEGATIVE stars for a review, I'd do it! After dealing with the acting GM (Karel - she's actually the accountant for the hotel), I originally gave a 1-star rating because she was extremely rude and disgustingly disrespectful. She told us to go pack our bags and get out, said that we were not welcomed to ever set foot on the property again, and threatened to call the police on us and all we did was to ask for a written record that our money would be returned to us! As you can see, things absolutely improved for us. What a big difference one person can make for you and your family experience on vacation!

Yelp
Beautiful hotel tucked away just on the outskirts of the downtown area. Easy walk to everything in town. The staff is INCREDIBLE!!! I cannot stress how fantastic and accommodating they are. The rooms are comfortable with a cozy bed, large TV, enough space for extended stays, coffee maker, and easily functioned AC. Couldn't recommend more!!

Yelp
A great place to stay. Very convenient to downtown and very helpful staff. Nice rooms as well. And a great restaurant (Rum Runner). We got stuck in Fredericksted after the carnival and couldn't get a cab home. Had to call the hotel and Thalia at the front desk was able to find one to come and get us. Don't get stuck after hours in Fredericksted is the take away. But if you do, thank God you're staying here at the Caravelle. I'd stay no where else in St. Croix.

Yelp
If you're of Vietnam descent (Viet Kieu), they have special policies at their Casino that are somewhat prejudice. I went with my American and Korean friend (I am American as well), but only because I had Vietnamese blood in me, they need a physical passport on me while my friends got in fine with a photo of theirs. I found it quite baffling that racism exists against their own descendants. I guess we Viet Kieus just gotta deal with the racisms. SMH
