Location was awesome, we were able to walk to a lot of the tourist hot spots within a 30-40min radius. Staff were friendly and communications were clear. Very English friendly. Shout out to Kylian for providing us with an overview of local surroundings and hotel facilities. Bedroom and bathroom were clean and tidy. Though the bathroom was on the smaller side. The building may also have an 'old' building smell which may bug some people. But in my opinion it added to the overall vibe along with the traditional French architecture.

This hotel is absolutely wonderful. The location is perfect—you’re literally sleeping right in the heart of downtown. I would especially like to thank Mr. Sylvain and Mr. Olivier 🙏 from the breakfast team. Yesterday, I couldn’t manage to get the goat cheese I was hoping for 🥲 and since breakfast time was almost over, it wasn’t being renewed. The next morning, I came earlier but still couldn’t find it, and I didn’t even mention it. To my surprise, they brought me a whole plate of that cheese without me asking! I was so touched by their kindness—they were simply the best 🫶 Also, we had a small issue with our room, but the hotel immediately upgraded us to another one. Everything was handled so smoothly. Thank you so much for making our stay so special!

We had a very lovely stay at the Carleton. It is a hotel that combines charm and modern efficiency. Our room was large with a very comfortable bed and a great shower. The staff at reception and in the breakfast room were very pleasant and efficient. Breakfast offered many delicious choices and the bar was perfect for a before-dinner cocktail. The hotel is close to shops and a short walk to the old town. We would definitely stay there again and recommend it to friends.

Google
This place is really great value for money. It is a charming art Deco hotel, in an unbeatable location. ||The staff are all really helpful, the rooms are generous and comfortable, And everything you want to do is right on your doorstep. ||Be aware it's not as soundproofed as maybe some hotels. So if this is an issue I would request a room off the street, but the balconies are great when you want to just chill out and get some sun in the room. ||As a vegan the breakfast was not worth the money, As there isn't too many options and it's quite expensive for what it is so I would skip that in future.||I would definitely stay at the Carlton again!

This is a quality hotel in the heart of Lyon. The building is sandstone and stylish. It is within easy walking distance of bouchons, shopping and the tourist information centre.|We drove from Dijon. Getting to the hotel was extremely frustrating because the city council is undertaking major road works and many of the streets on Google maps were blocked off. We drove around in circles for an hour and eventually had to drive the wrong way up a one way street to get to the hotel. Fortunately, valet parking takes care of your car. The staff in the front desk are friendly. The lift in the hotel is quirky and small… my wife and I couldn’t fit in the lift with our luggage. You will see the lift if you check out the hotel on YouTube. The room itself was a good size and had French doors opening onto a Juliette balcony. There is a toilet cubicle in one corner of the room… this detracted from the overall appeal of the room. The bathroom was nice, and the room had a table and chair. The bed was large and comfortable.

We had the best experience living here with my family. We were all warmly welcomed and our kids were offered sweets and macaroons by the kind team of the hotel. Marie offered exceptional service and ensured our stay was as comfortable as possible. Upon asking about actives for the kids, she wrote a well thought, hand written note for kids. This is definitely the best service we have experienced on our stay in France.

Google
The Carlton Lyon is well located and the hotel's rooms are well appointed. The front desk staff is efficient and very helpful with planning. However, the meals which we ordered in the bar were served cold (at refrigerator temperature). When questioned the bartender/server advised that this was standard. Whether true or not, avoid ordering food in the bar.

Google
Cannot beat the location of Hotel Carlton. I also appreciate the proactive staff in helping our luggage in our room and even offering us water when we pass by them in the hallways. The room was spacious and clean

Yelp
I absolutely adored everything about the M Gallery Carlton hotel. I loved it so much, it will now be my go-to hotel whenever I visit Lyon! The location is fantastic, in a safe and bustling area with lots of shops, bars, and restaurants within quick and easy walking distance. Public transportation, live theater, and other local attractions are within a 5 to 15 minute walk from the hotel. With just 80 rooms, the hotel feel very intimate although it's part of the Accor chain. The front desk staff were friendly and welcoming, which can be hit or miss in France. I truly felt like they were happy to have me as a guest. The rooms, while on the small side, felt very luxurious and was modern and looked brand new. I loved the artsy vibe and the dark red and black color scheme felt oh so French. It quickly became my very favorite hotel room of the many I stayed in during a 3 week jaunt through the country. I especially loved the free wifi and high quality bed linens, and little touches like lighted vanity mirrors and plush robes made me feel spoiled! My room even had a mini wrought iron balcony that was the perfect setting for sipping wine in the evening. I hate to share the secret of this hotel, but it is a fantastic property! Stay here if you are in Lyon, you won't be disappointed!

Yelp
AMAZING STAY! Everything was perfect! The location is excellent and it is about 12 minute walk to the old city. Stayed in this hotel for three nights. Our room was big enough and had a balcony with a great view. Breakfast was very good. The staff was very helpful and friendly.

Yelp
We decided to make a stop in the French city Lyon. We figured it would be something new and different and since it was on the way to Paris, why not? When I searched for a place to stay, the Hotel Carlton came up as the #1 hotel in Lyon on Tripadvisor. The reviews here are all in French...lol! We had just come from staying in a tiny closet in Marseille, so when I booked here, I asked for a quiet room away from the elevators. We were pretty happy when we entered our large "cozy" twin room. The bathroom was huge! My only complaint was that there wasn't enough counter space. Great closet with an easy accessible safe, large comfy twins, and excellent AC. Great flat screen t.v. The double windows, which blocked out practically all the sound, opened to a small balcony. The room was so comfortable, I could've stayed in it all day! The wifi is free, but a little slow, so I opted to pay for the upgrade. It wasn't that much. A buffet breakfast was included. In a cozy dining area, it included yogurts, fresh fruit, cheeses and meats, assorted pastries, crepes, three hot dishes, and eggs made to order. Oh, and delicious coffee. The staff was very friendly and always had smiles on their faces. All of the staff are friendly and at the front desk, very helpful. Didn't check out the bar, so I couldn't comment. There's also a day spa available, but didn't check it out either, perhaps next time. I would definitely stay here again! It is affordable luxury and you can't beat the location.

Yelp
This is a 4 star hotel but as my husband puts it, our experience was more than 5 stars! It took a little bit of navigating in the car to get to the entrance of the hotel. They offer valet parking for I think 25 euros a night but it is really convenient. You can call for your car before you go out and they'll bring it to the front. We got there and the valet helped us with our bags while we check in. The check in process was good and the front desk agent was very friendly and pleasant. They have the old school elevator and we loved that. Our room overlooks the square. The view was great but they had double windows so it wasn't noisy at all. The room and bathroom were very nice and the bed was so comfortable. Wifi is included. They also offer turn down service every evening. The exterior of the hotel is very beautiful and the location is great. Located in the 2nd arrondissement, it's central to all the places we wanted to visit. It's a short walk from the main shopping area, Vieux Lyon, Les Halles de Lyon etc. We didn't use the bike share service this time but if you are planning to use the Velo V bike share service there are stations near the hotel. Check out was such a breeze for us. The porter appeared within a few minutes of us calling. We went out for coffee before departing and when we came back the bags were packed in our car and they even put bottle water in the car for us. We had a really great stay and I would really recommend the hotel to anyone visiting Lyon.

Yelp
Not such a great hotel, but it's location was perfect and could provide reservations at the most sought after restaurants because of its address/name/reputation. The air conditioner was as effective as a box fan on low. Room service selection for dinner and snacks was limited and did not carry the full selection as if you went next door to the restaurant that was providing the food. Plus the food was average. I don't know if you did go to the restaurant if the food would be average. The breakfast had a wide variety of French and English style items. I would recommend breakfast there if you are an early riser and don't want to wait until 11 or 12 to eat at a restaurant. When we were there it was about 25€ per person. Taxi station is right down the street where the rapid transit station and carousel are located. There is also an ATM right across the street. You are very close to the Place Bellecour where you can also pick up taxies, the hop on hop off bus, ATM, and a very clean public bathroom. The room provides Nescafé instant coffee, black tea, and earl gray with various sugar packets and liquid cream. I did have the hot water kettle leak all over the cabinet it was stuck in. The toilets are square and may take some getting use to. There is a bar lounge in the hotel. There is a wheel chair lift if you can not use stairs to get to the elevator. The elevator takes a while to get where it's going and can sometimes get stuck if the last rider did not close the secondary doors all the way. Free wifi with an ok speed. We reserved the smallest room type with a king bed. The bed and bedding were very comfortable, but the room did get hot. The bedroom area was small and just enough room if you decided to dine in your room. The bathroom was a good size with no bathtub. The shower floor is a bit slippery. The tv had audio language selection for some channels/programs.

Yelp
We had a fantastic stay here on a Friday night in the summer. The front desk was very welcoming (in English, my native language) and helped me with the bags and parking arrangements for the car. We had reserved and paid for in advance via Expedia.com the junior suite for $395 including all taxes and it was worth every penny. We had a top floor, rounded corner room (Room 422) which had fantastic views of the pedestrian walk area, carousel, and fountain below, and the Basilica on the hill above Old Town. The entranceway also included a door for the toilet, then another door separating it from the room proper. Once inside that door you had three floor-to-ceiling window doors that opened up on to the small but wrap-around balcony, offering small views of the Rhone River on both sides, as well as the views listed above. We loved the fresh air and made a few cocktails as we watched the sun set over the basilica and the tv tower. We asked the desk to make us a dinner reservation and they sent us to the old town, but not the block with all the restaurants where the tourists go, but one block beyond. We loved the restaurant they chose for us. After dinner we strolled to old cobblestone streets of Old Town and snapped photos and soaked up the lively atmosphere of people hanging on the streets and in outdoor cafes on a warm summer nights. As we made our way back across one of the bridges across the Sogne River, we walked down by the water where a lot of young people were hanging out, enjoying the slight breeze. We even saw two swans. The location of this hotel is excellent, right between the two rivers (Rhone and Sogne). It was about a 10 minute walk to the pedestrian bridge taking you over to Old Town, which should not be missed. Both sides of town have picturesque buildings. The service was excellent. Always helpful and with a smile. Keeping our bags and car there for several hours after we checked out was not a problem. Valet parking was 25 euros.
