57 Best Airbnbs in Italy: Rome, Venice, Positano, Sicily, & More

"If you want to get up close and personal with Venice's hustle and bustle, pony up for this apartment directly on the Grand Canal. You'll want to schedule some time to sit out on the patio and watch boats fly by. The inside lives up to the outside's standards too, with a leafy green Venetian-plastered living room, two bedrooms, and a fully stocked kitchen. This is an Airbnb Plus after all, meaning it's passed a 100-point inspection including having closet and drawer space for guests, a well-lit entry, easy check-in, comfortable mattresses, a coffee maker, and toiletries like shampoo." - Madison Flager,Caitlin Morton

Carlton on the Grand Canal, Venice – Mixed Experience The hotel has a great location right on the Grand Canal, and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. They resolved a booking issue quickly and made arranging a gondola ride and water taxis easy. That said, several aspects didn’t meet expectations. The room showed signs of wear (water damage in the bathroom) and was only set up for one guest. We had to request extra towels and amenities. Breakfast was disappointing—limited options, cold and overcooked hot food, and a crowded, noisy atmosphere due to overbooking and allowing outside guests. It didn’t feel relaxing at all. The rooftop terrace bar had potential but felt neglected. There was no music, lighting, or signage, even on nice evenings. It gave the impression it wasn’t meant to be used. Both the bar and dining options were overpriced for the quality. Overall, a beautiful location and great staff, but the stay felt underwhelming and not worth the price. Some improvements in service, upkeep, and guest experience would make a big difference.

Fabulous location just opposite Venezia Santa Lucia railway station. Rooms are small however beautifully decorated. Bathroom good however we had issues with sink and the door would not close. The sink issue was sorted quickly. Breakfast is buffet and has a mixture of hot and cold food . Overall perfect location to spend few days in Venice.

We stayed at this hotel for one night and rented two rooms. Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing. Both rooms had an unpleasant odor upon arrival. Each room was only provided with one shower towel, despite our reservation clearly being for two guests per room. In one of the rooms, the toilet paper was not replaced. Additionally, both rooms were uncomfortably hot when we arrived, as the air conditioning units had not been turned on. We turned them on ourselves and waited for about three hours before contacting the front desk. Room 107 eventually cooled down to a somewhat tolerable level, though still not ideal. However, Room 106 remained uncomfortably hot throughout our stay. When we raised our concerns with the receptionist and noted that the lobby was noticeably cooler than our rooms, his response was that upper floors typically get warmer. He also mentioned a recent complaint from a group of six guests sharing one room, which he attributed to body heat. He acknowledged that the building is old and poorly insulated. The room temperature remained unbearable throughout the night, and we were unable to get proper rest. The outside temperature was in the 90s, but the thermostats in the rooms were outdated and lacked any temperature display. Based on this experience, I would not recommend this hotel—especially during the summer months—unless improvements are made to the cooling system.

We recently stayed at Hotel Carlton on the Grand Canal in Venice, and unfortunately, our experience fell short of expectations, especially given this is a 4-star hotel. The rooms had a dated, antiquated appearance, with decor and furniture that felt more unpleasant than charming. While the bathrooms were acceptable, the overall condition of the accommodations was disappointing. The first night was particularly uncomfortable due to the lack of air conditioning, which left the rooms stuffy and hard to sleep in. When we raised the issue, we were informed that the air conditioning couldn't be turned on until May as part of the Venezian policy to address global warming concerns. This was especially frustrating since we visited in late April. Instead, we were advised to open the windows for ventilation. Unfortunately, this solution led to a new problem on the second night—mosquitoes and flies entered through the open windows, making it impossible to sleep properly for the second night in a row. While the staff were friendly and tried to assist, the outdated accommodations, discomfort, and sleepless nights significantly impacted our stay. In addition, the TV among other things were also not working properly. Considering this is a 4-star hotel, the experience was very disappointing. Despite its beautiful location on the Grand Canal, the subpar rooms and lack of comfort made our stay far less enjoyable than expected.

Great service by Raffaello, one of the receptionists who provided all the info we needed. We truly appreciated the room upgrade also, with great sunset views of the canal. Traditional and romantic feel of the bedrooms, however the bath/shower facilities are a bit small and cramped. Also mosquitoes concern due to lack of nets/screens. The location overall is very accessible and ideal for those who want to be close to the parking locations and public transport (rail stations). The breakfast was okay but not the quality one would expect from a 4 Star Carlton Hotel.

Google
This great experience I would like to say, the hotel is nis to stay not too far from Railway Station only 2-3 minutes walking to, not too difficult to find out, when you walk in it’s nice cool area treating from reception, room was not bad even its small room but I understood because it need to save the place, breakfast was super, we was staying in room No.210 from 20th-24th July 2025, what’s shocking up to us it’s one night on 22 at 12.12 was night time, a man knocked a door and want to get in our room by the key, it’s staff from the hotel, you know? In the night time you can’t do that to your guests, but every clearly, this was our great experience from this hotel

Google
OK, so you're paying for the location, which is ideal for the rail station and the water buses. However, I was disappointed by the quality of the superior room. Don't expect too much of the decor. They may be going for the authentic Venetian look, but it comes across as shabby. Maybe the standard rooms might actually fare better. No tea / coffee facilities are in the room and not even a complimentary bottle of water, which is odd considering the price you are paying. Desk staff were friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said of the rooftop bar. There is a good breakfast.

Only thing about this hotel is the location, very convenient just on the opposite side of train station. 1. The rooms was as small as it can be. 2. The wifi doesn't even work in the room (atleast provided to us). 3. The mobile network doesn't work in the rooms again. 4. No water, not even basic kettle or coffee is provided in room. 5. On ask, they gave us hot water in mug and denied giving us even a spoon. 6. The breakfast buffet was decent but hot food like omelets and pancakes needs to be paid separately which is usually free in most hotels just provided on request. Overall not a very good experience given the money we have paid.

Yelp
A five-star hotel with five star service. It is located right on the Grand Canal across from the train station overlooking the Scazali Bridge to the right. I never made it up to the top floor view of the dining area but I was told it is a wedding venue for the locals. This place is an absolute ideal location but all I have to point out is get a porter from the train station to take your bags to and from the hotel. 22 steps up 22 steps down the Scazali Bridge. Welcome to Venice!

Rayan S.

Yelp
This was an awful experience. First time using this hotel. Do not use. The hotel made us move to a different hotel and made us walk almost a mile and a half with our bags through Venice. They were checking people in, but the manager told us there was electric problems and there was nothing he was going to do about it. They put us in a sister hotel and room that was absolutely filthy. The floor was disgusting, there were bugs on the walls and bed. You could literally see the bugs on the bed and walls. When we told the front desk, they told us there was nothing they would do. I'd give this place negative stars. So disappointing. Do yourself a favor. Don't stay here, go somewhere else.

Yelp
Love this place as they have inside And outside seating on the grand Canal. Close to bus and train - great spot to end your day in Venice.Alessandro Cara and Meskerem Coccato are Amazing!

Yelp
Not the place to go if you are looking for sleek, minimslistic and modern. This is old Europe... what you give up in small rooms and bathrooms you gain in old world charm. We had a comfortable stay... Great location. Love the old fashioned heavy brass keys!

Denece M.

Yelp
Worst hotel in Venice. No air, bare service. Do not recommend. Lack of room service. Food in restaurant was terrible.
google avatar

Jake J.

Yelp
This place is pretty disappointing. First the rooms are tiny. No basic things like hot water or coffee in room. Shower has no door on it so water goes everywhere. Room is hot as all hell. Ac does nothing. Bed stiff as a board. After all that we asked if they did laundry or had public machines. Told us yes they'd be happy to do laundry. Quickly came and took a small bundle of socks and shirts (about a small backpack full). Charged 250 euros. Socks they charged 130 euros alone. So basically washing socks they say is more valuable than a night in this hotel...

Yelp
GREAT LOCATION.!!!!! We have visited Venice a few times and having such a great location is just ideal. I want to be out and about more than my husband does so this way he could go back to the room and I could explore. I loved the decor of this historic hotel which I hear was one a Palace. It's close to St Marks .. it's right on the Grand Canal ... whats not to love. It's very old and some things are showing it but the decor is lovely and once again the location is so great ... and thats what really matters. ask ahead for a view of the canal.

Jonah K.

Yelp
Classic mediocre European hotel. Tiny, uncomfortable rooms, disinterested staff. On our last night the hotel hosted a party and played music so loud, it shook the windows on our room 3 flights up above the atrium where the party was held. They seem to partner with a lot of group tour companies which is probably the only reason they stay open.

M R.

Yelp
The location of the hotel is perfect for anyone who is arriving by train! Though so many things could be much better.... the photos on the website are different from the actual rooms when you visit. Just don't take it by surprise when you go inside your room and find everything antique. The bathroom is so small and old-fashioned, it feels stuffy inside the room. The tv is extremely small and sometimes does not work. My family bought breakfast and all the food was stale and old. The only thing they served was stale pastries. We did not eat breakfast for our whole stay because of this. The staff is nice, but overall the hotel just needs improvement.

Yelp
No ac and older rooms. It's hot everywhere but the lobby here in June. Here with a tour group of 30

Yelp
Hotel right on the canal and not many taxi drops from the airport. Rooms a bit on small side and hotel rooms are a bit vintage but lobby has marble Covering everything. Great breakfast, tons of Items and variety, about 5 different types of croissants and cereals. They have various juices and coffee as well. Unique place uses the old metal large keys and vintage charm in the hallways and rooms.

Yelp
No stars!!! I just finished a month across Europe including two weeks in Italy and this was by FAR the WORST hotel of them all. Let's just start with- this hotel is not a four star hotel by any standard. Here are some bullet points but the real story follows so get your popcorn ready. -Black mold all over the bathroom in room 257. Looks like long term water damage from leakage from the above bathroom possibly? See images. My nose is still stopped since taking a shower in there. - Free WiFi is only if you agree for them to have and store all of your information on their server. Obviously, I didn't approve, so NO FREE WI FI. -Two elevators that we saw- one with an out of service and one that should be out of service. Terrifying sounds, doesn't open and shut properly, and goes to random floors. Even saw an elderly man (90s maybe?) taking the stairs. See video. - Room locks look like from last century. - Notes in room advising to put valuables in safe. Bell boy showed us the safe and said put valuables in safe. Safe was broken. Battery died locking our things inside with the message "low battery- help" finally opened a half hour later. - You can hear guests clicking their locks as you walk by bc you can't tell if it's working or not. - Hotel has TVs on in vacant rooms. Security measure? - Drains are extremely slow, so watch your step in the shower. Mine was slippery before I used soap. - Desk lady was unprofessional, blaming us for things and arguing. (See multiple other reviews- same here.) - the luggage from people checking out was all over the hotel in hallways and the entryway, out in the open for thieves. - new mattresses and the bed bug trap looks clean. (See other reviews.) - Pillow is thin, mattresses are hard. (Pretty common in Italy, but definitely not 4 star quality or a comfortable nights rest.) - My face was extremely broken out the next day on the side of my face that I slept on. (I'm middle aged for perspective- this is not a normal breakout.) - Here is the part you've been waiting on... In recent years Romanian thieves have become out of control in Venice. Unlike other tourist areas like Rome, Paris, etc in Venice with necessary bridges and alley ways the thrives are unavoidable. I would not recommend Venice as a destination in generalities stay after this trip to overnight. I was there three years ago and it is much different in terms of safety. We were robbed on the way into the hotel of two suitcases while cross the grand canal outside of the train terminal. A man asked to help me several times- to which I said no before he grabbed two suitcases from me and ran. They were recovered after a chase. Don't let the blonde hair and dress fool you- don't mess with a Texas girl. Needless to say- we were understandably frazzled and out of breath at check in. We came back later after relaxing to check on airport shuttles time. They advertise as having an airport shuttle but they do not. The desk girl told me that I should have known that I need to book my shuttle service at check in, and they do no offer it to book now. She showed me where it said we have to pay for it anyways. (It was in Italian but it looked like she pointed to the part where it said how many people booked in 24 hours at the top. Trying to pull one over on me? I can pull up the site in English- I speak another language I'm not stupid.) She said I can't expect other countries to do things like America. Seriously Wtf. Travelers can't be expected to mind read the concierge and know a unique needs of their specific hotel. It is literally her job to provide the services as advertised. Not doing it is bad enough but blaming the tourist is completely unacceptable. Then she had the audacity to act as if being robbed was my fault stating- well you (my family) have 5 luggages. We have been to 11 countries in 30 days, and yes we have 5 pieces of luggage and had zero problems with any other location bc the hotel's desk attendants assisted us in booking safe travel and informing us of any potential issues. The bar down the street suggested a water taxi, and later we had to ask her to call them as she only offered porter service ($90) and a bus, or the water fairy. - After not sleeping we checked out at 6:45am before breakfast started. - I have never been so happy to arrive to an airport safely. Until Venice gets the thieves under control I wouldn't recommend bringing anything here or staying. We talked to several employees at restaurants and the hotel and all were saddened by the current problem. I spoke to flight attendants on my return flight and connection both had the same impression of this city I did. Skip Venice for now! Or do a day trip with no valuables.

Yelp
We stayed here when we were in Venice on our honeymoon and we weren't super impressed. The hotel is super old and the AC in the rooms is not the best. It verges on creepy and it's a bit dark and depressing. The worst part about this hotel is the fact that you pay for a double bed but when you arrive, you realize it's only 2 twin beds pushed together! I complained to the bellboy about this and he "fixed" the problem by placing a very thin mattress topper on top to "connect" the two beds which was only mildly helpful. The only positive thing about this place is the location; it's located right across from the train station and right on the Grand Canal. For the amount of money we spent here, I expected more!

Yelp
First this location is superb! Right across the bridge from the train station. 3 blocks down from the main terminal and one stop away from the local ferry buses. One alley down from a laundromat. The rooms are decently sized and all the amenities are nice. The bathrooms were recently updated and the wardrobe is huge. We were very well taken care of here. We only stayed one night but enjoyed it and the service. The rooftop bar is also really great and has some wonderful views of Venice.

Yelp
Charming, old school place to stay. It is literally across the street from the Train and in perfect view of the Grand Canal. My boyfriend and I stayed her in early May on our Italian adventure. Staff was so super accommodating and sweet! I ordered the birthday cake + champagne for him and he was so surprised. The decor was a little outdated, but well kept. There is no a/c , but we didn't mind because we slept with the window open and got nice breeze. It's very close to everything, clean, and overall we had an amazing stay!

Yelp
EM Forster's character Mr. Emerson was incorrect when he exclaimed that "Women like looking at a view, men don't" upon seeing the disappointment of the new tourists to Florence who did not get rooms with their pre-requested views. My boyfriend and I both wanted a view in Venice, which we were lucky to get with this hotel, but the room was very old and very small. I would put it at 2.5 stars rather than 4 as it needs an overhaul and normally I love old hotels. We were set on a Grand Canal view because we had never been but had both always wanted to go to Venice and we wanted the experience you see in the movies, where the hotel balconies are open and Gondolas are idling by. This we got. What we didn't anticipate was having to climb over a chair to to be able to reach the bed, nor the amount of noise that comes along with a room a with a view late into the night and early in the morning. What Mr. Emerson and the new tourists should have realized (and so do we now), is that no one needs a room with a view because you shouldn't be in your hotel at all on a trip to Italy, you should be out in the city, seeing things first-hand. For the price, I wish I had booked a spacious, quiet room at a different hotel for several reasons. Apart from the noise our bathroom had a towel rack that heated our towels, our tiny room and could possibly have provided warmth for a small militia. It didn't have an off button. Hence the windows had to be open and we slept to the sweet sounds of shouting in the streets. One of the reasons that I booked this one was also the close proximity to the train (it's right across the canal, but be forewarned that the bridge to get here has steps so there's no pulling luggage over it), however, I also now know that there's a regular 'water bus' right in front of the train station and for 7 euros we could have stayed at any hotel in Venice with complete ease.

Yelp
We enjoyed our Honeymoon here, and we've never experienced a more charming and "relaxed" place. Your location, staff, service, accommodations, views and memories have left us not needing anything more than to return, time and time again.....

Yelp
We stayed here for two nights. It is very well located within walking distance from all the sites. Easy and interesting walk from St Marks square. Room was just ok bed a little hard but we did not come to Venice for the room. Service in this hotel was excellent and we enjoyed the food too. We would stay here again

Yelp
What an utter nightmare dealing with this '4 star' hotel has been. I use '4 star' very loosely. Let's start with the hotel service itself (just wait - it gets much much worse). The hotel is fine, it's an old hotel so you can expect it to be a bit dated, as it is but the view of the grand canal is beautiful (as is Venice itself). The service is in NO WAY four star and would make most accustomed to that level of service faint. We called down to the desk on our second day after a long day out exploring and shopping. The request was simple, two glasses and a bucket of ice (as we had purchased presecco to enjoy while getting ready for dinner. The front desk proceeded to argue with me (a full blown 2 minutes of arguing telling me to go to the bar and get it or they'd charge us a room service fee. After paying $650.00 per night, one would hope that 1. There would be no argument or superiority complex from the staff. 2. Glasses and Ice would not be an issue (other than to tip the porter). But here is where it gets really interesting. I paid our bill in full with a Canadian Visa Debit (it was NOT on the reservation), recieved our bill and went on our way. Upon arrival in Barcelona, I log into my bank account to find a second charge for same amount ( $1378.00). You can imagine my horror and I immediately contacted them. Do you know there first response? " I can assure you, that ISN'T possible". REALLY? Want to make a wager. After two days of arguing with them and being told excessively that I was wrong (or a liar in other words), I contacted my bank to find out that they charged me once on the 22nd (our departure date) and then again THREE days later. I am/was livid and thru all of this not once has an apology been made. Apparently the "manager" knows and has not bothered to get involved (she's been copied on emails) and I am left loaning them my money for almost a week while they 'sort it out'. I have never in my life experienced such horrible service, lack of concern (it isn't there money or time being wasted) and I would HIGHLY caution providing your financial information to them as they clearly have no issue taking it and billing at leisure.

Yelp
Location, Location, Location! That's about it for the Hotel Carlton on the Grand Canal located directly across the bridge from the Train station, Gondola parking, and several vaporetto stops in Santa Croce, Venice. Very convenient to go anywhere you want to go and there is even a free taxi that the hotel can arrange to take you to Murano if you want but you are most likely on your on for the return trip unless you purchase something and negotiate the glass shop to call the taxi for you. We tipped the driver both times so I doubt the driver minded at all. The hotel is definitely partners a particular glass shop in Murano so if you do oblige for the "free" taxi ride, you will most likely be ushered into Vetreria Artistica Ferro E Lazzarini where you are given a "tour," see how the glass is made and then taken to some of the showrooms where they try to sell you pieces. We were actually looking to buy some authentic Murano glass pieces so this was not a problem for us but just a heads up if this is not up your alley because it could get awkward. Hotel offers free breakfast but breakfast is not the best- I'd steer clear of the runny eggs, canned fruit, and old pastries. Even their cappuccinos were among the worst I've had in Italy and I thought I had amazing coffee everywhere I went in Italy. If breakfast is subpar, I wouldn't dream to eat at the hotel's restaurant either. Besides, there's plenty of restaurants within walking distance (like within a few hundred feet from the hotel) in either direction that we ate at instead and the food was phenomenal. So you're better off eating the more edible food options for your "free" breakfast and heading out to restaurants for lunch and dinner. As for the rooms, try and get one with a view of the canal, the view is beautiful but could be a bit more noisy if you're on the lower floors but noise is less of an issue if you're higher up facing the canal. If not, you'll be facing the courtyard and looking at nothing- kind of depressing. As for the rooms and amenities itself, sure Venetian is a theme, but these rooms have not been renovated for YEARS! Beds are dusty and stiff to sleep on. Bathroom tiling looks like it came from a bad 1950s sitcom and that hairdryer, yea that looked like it came from the 1950s too. Don't bother using it because my vacuum cleaner blows more air. There is Free wifi but the connection is not the best as it goes in and out unless you are located in/close proximity to the lobby. Air conditioning units are not the best either. For example, it hardly worked in our room or my parent's room. Air conditioning BROKE in my brother's room, and flooded part of the room and front desk tried to brush it off instead of switching their rooms until my brother said it was FLOODING and they would not stay with their stuff in the room. Front desk could have handled that situation a bit better rather than try to make excuses. All in all, if you are traveling to/from Venice by train and don't plan on spending much time in the hotel room or don't care about the bed you sleep on, then Hotel Carlton is a good pick OR my suggestion is for the hotel to get an interior decorator/consultant who can preserve the Venetian theme while bringing the hotel and amenities into the 21st century!

Christina L.

Yelp
Was sleeping in the room and some one just knocked the door for five minutes despite I shouted I am sleeping. Hahahaha. After that, the person kept knocking and tried to open my door. Never seen so rude behaviors in hotels. Then I called front desk to solve this issue. For Americans, double room usually doesn't mean two twin beds put together. Honestly not sure about how europeans think about it but at night if your husband tries to reach for you and suddenly there comes a big gap between two beds. Hahahah. Isn't that scary?

Yelp
Great Location & View - Hotel Carlton & Grand Canal, Venice This was the second stop we made on our tour in Europe, our travel agency Gate 1 Travel setup us in this hotel the second week in October, the Hotel Carlton & Grand Canal is in the perfect location, right across from the Santa Lucia train station and conveniently located in the heart of Venice on the grand canal. We decided to upgrade our room to a view room of the Grand Canal because our initial room was a small twin bed room with no view, so we paid the extra 60 Euro a night, also it was important to have a bed large enough to accommodate a married couple, especially since we were married 10 years ago in the Venetian in Las Vegas so our stay had to be perfect. The view was amazing, so it was a great decision to do make the move, we were able to spend the evenings on the patio having wine and watching the boats in the Canal, very cool. The first night we returned from dinner and called it a night, I pulled the comforter open and to our surprise we have 2 twin beds put together? Are you kidding me, we paid for the upgrade and explained to front desk this was our Anniversary and we wanted a great view and large bed. We were shocked and when I went down in the morning and shared my disappointment they switched out the beds. We had breakfast included in our deal and I can say the food was excellent. The morning we checked out I explained the situation about the bed mix-up and asked the front desk clerk to not charge us the upgrade fee for the first night, he said the bed was switched out for you and said he knew nothing and would refund anything. I was surprised everyone was so nice, but this guy was pretty much a jerk. Yes, the bed was switched out the next day but this should have never happened in the first place and I was only requesting a refund of the upgrade for the first night. This was my first and only experience with an extremely arrogant person / employee in Europe, throughout our 12-day vacation.

Yelp
We stayed there May 21, 2019 in rooms 252 and 253. We experienced bed bugs, I personally had 10 bites on me, 3 on my face!!!

Yelp
I needed to print some documents and had been turned down by many hotels that clearly had a printer, but the receptionists at this desk gladly offered their printer to me. Very nice staff!

Yelp
Great location close to Pza Roma, Train Station and Scalzi Bridge (one of only 4 bridges across the Grand Canal) Breakfast is great and fills you up for plenty of walking during the day. The rooms are small but nicely kept with bathrooms that could do with some more storage / shelve space. We had a room at the back of the hotel and while it had no view it was lovely and quiet. Wi-fi is an issue and the plug in option in the room didn't work for us so we used the wi-fi in the lobby which worked well even with 2 dozen plus people on it at times!

Yelp
The hotel was decent, nice rooftop bar as well which was nice. We came here on a tour which was using the hotel. The food was pretty horrible for breakfast, we skipped it after the first day. The location is a bit far from where you want to be, but it's close to the bus and train terminal for Venice. The root was nothing special, I would call it between 2 and 3 star, but in Italy they call these 4 star hotels for some reason.

Yelp
If I could give no stars I would. The worst hotel ever! We blew a fuse just trying to charge our phone, then we took a very quick shower and flooded the bathroom!! We called to complain about the bath tub being clogged when the guy showed up he Yelled at us!!! And continued to say it is fixed when it is not! The guy was totally rude and inappropriate!!! In addition we paid a pretty penny for this room and it is the tiniest room I have ever seen!!! Worst hotel ever!!!

As part of a tour group, we stayed in a patio-garden double room for a couple days. The room was bright, spacious and clean; it looked very much like the photos on the hotel's website. Outside opened up to a quiet patio-garden--a nice retreat from the city and made us feel as if we had our own private area with cottage-style rooms. The location was great. Behind the hotel, is a more residential, less touristy area if you want to see how real Venetians live. In front of the hotel, cross a bridge and you encounter a busier area full of restaurants and souvenir shops. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the continental breakfast had a lot of variety (especially baked goods).

Yelp
Nice hotel, very convenient, room at the back was quiet, clean and comfortable, no view, but that didn't matter, as were only there three nights and out all day. We were there middle of April, roof terrace a bit cold, but nice views. Opted for the water taxi from the airport, 32€, long walk from airport to pick up point but well organised and a different way to arrive at the hotel, about 20 mins. Opted to take the bus back, 10 mins from hotel, run every 15 mins, takes about 20 mins, cost 6€. We weren't impressed with the special meal on arrival, would recommend going 5 mins round the corner to osteria al vecio pozzo, on yelp.

Yelp
The location is ideal. Right across is the grand train station, one big bridge to cross. The bus station is about 8-10 blocks. It is central to getting to all the important places. The service in the hotel was very friendly. There was a general air or prejudice and anti-East Indian graffiti on the walls in Venice. It shocked me. I've always been used to a friendly Venice. Some stores threw me out because they didn't want me shopping there. Prejudice is quite alive in Venice, very unfortunate. The room in the hotel was very small but very elegantly dressed. The bath was very comfortable and good. The front desk were non-prejudiced and kind and helpful in English. The breakfast was plentiful and delightful. The elevators worked very well the entire time. The boat rides are easy to get from there, just walk a few blocks. Overall, I liked the hotel very much and would consider staying here if there was not so much hatred in Venezia for Indians.

Yelp
I liked this place and you can't beat the location. First, be ready for Italian hotel rooms; they are tiny, a little tacky, the walls are usually covered in material and the ceilings are low. This place is charming, has a great free breakfast and the bar is fabulous. The service was excellent. For the price in Venice, you can't beat it. You can spend a lot more for a room and not get much more.

Yelp
Do not stay here, depressing situation. Concierge no good, kinda like jail cell, the bfast watermelon tasted like garlic and chile (Do they clean knives), water from shower crazy and goes all over/sprays everywhere, front desk (just the men) personnel have attitude problems. Just pay more money and go elsewhere.

Yelp
We really like this hotel, but we had a major issue with one of their recommendations. When they checked us in, the desk clerk recommended to us a tour to Murano that was "specially offered" to customers of this hotel and which included transportation to Murano, you arrange your own trip back. No problem, there are water buses, we figured the business owners on Murano had set this up to encourage visitors off season. When we arrived in Murano, we were met by an employee of a particular Murano glass factory. He gave us a tour and conducted us through their large showrooms full of multithousand euro chandeliers and thousand euro wine sets. These items were beautiful, deserving of a place in a museum sometimes, but that wasn't what our hotel had prepared us for. We were extremely uncomfortable because we had planned to visit Murano looking for perhaps earrings or beads, not for $15,000 chandeliers. We felt very uncomfortable taking up this salesman's time. When he finally realized we were not going to buy anything over a couple hundred euros, he informed us there was a gift shop. On our way out the salesclerk informed us that the salesman would call a water taxi for us. We knew a water taxi would be at least €100. So we started exploring the grounds. We found behind a corner and down a path a gate that would let us out into an alley. Otherwise we would've been trapped at this factory and expected to take an air taxi back to Venice at the cost of €100. We felt the hotel should have warned us that this was basically like a timeshare offer... you get transport to Murano, but if you don't buy anything major, they won't let you leave. We felt it was only because we were willing to look like fools, and go searching for an exit to the actual town, so that we could take the water us back to Venice, that we were able to avoid a water taxi charge. We did not realize what we were letting ourselves in for. Our hotel should have protected us from this. We are going to complain to our travel agent. But we also wanted to Yelp about this.

Yelp
We just spent a week at this hotel, and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel is located across from the train station on the Grand Canal, and extremely convenient to everything. We had a room overlooking the Grand Canal, and often enjoyed the view of the waterway activities as well as the comings and goings along the various pathways and bridges within our view. The hotel staff, from room service to front desk to restaurant and continental breakfast staff were extremely professional, curtious, and helpful. The room was spacious and beautifully furnished. Costs were reasonable for a four star hotel, and we even received a complimentary night's stay due to the length of our reservations. Best of all, it's a short bag drag from either the Train station or vehicle arrival point, there's a water bus station nearby, and water taxis and gondolas dock right out in front of the hotel. It's also a reasonably short hike to all of Venice's main attractions through the heart of Venice.
