Wow what a place!|The theme of the hotel adds a LOT of character to the stay, and was worth it for that alone. The pictures are very nice, but be warned in person it is smaller and more worn than the photos look. This isn't a deal breaker unless you plan to stay in the room your whole stay. ||The location is AMAZING! the Marais is a must-explore section of the city in my opinion, and you're right there! It is a short walk to multiple subway lines, Hotel de Ville, the Seine, it's about a 20 minute walk to Notre Dame & Saint Chapelle, and less than 10 minute walk to Place des Vosges. It is literally around the corner from Rue de Rivoli, and only 2 blocks from Le BHV Marais (shopping mall). VERY walkable location in my option, we even walked to the Louvre/Jardin Tuileries, but admittedly that might be a little far. You'll still need to public transport/taxi to the Eiffel Tower, Sacre Couer, or Arc De Triomphe. And don't be delusional like me - there is no Eiffel Tower view here or nearby - at least from 2nd floor or street level. The cafe/bar next door (Le Pick Clops) is bright yellow & blue and can be a great directional device. It seems to have long hours, so was always nice for a coffee in the morning or glass of wine in the evening!||We stayed in one of the front rooms on the 2nd floor (labelled floor #1 in France). It was small, but we had to fully open our large suitcase between the bed and the window. There was a little wooden desk that we could put things on, but it seemed delicate so we were cautious. The bed was a small double, it didn't seem like 2 single beds pushed together as some others have suggested, it was noticeably smaller than our North American queen sized bed. |I remember my shower having a curtain, though it seems like in some rooms there is no curtain. |You need to turn in your key to the front desk every time you leave, this was strange to us.|Learn some french before you arrive! There is always someone at the front desk, but not all the employees speak English. Since you're visiting France anyway, brush up on some basics before staying and it will make your experience smoother. |We always found the rooms clean. ||The closets are lined with fabric, which I was a little wary of after hearing about the bed bug problem in Paris, but we did not encounter any bed bugs. ||There was some noise from the street during the day, and a little during the night, but nothing that ear plugs couldn't handle. ||TLDR: I thought the value was good, but you are really paying for the location. The rooms are a little worn, but have character. The front facing rooms are still small, but have enough space for 2 people + luggage.
