Wonderful location and superior staff. Rooms were roomy and had plenty of space for luggage. Bathrooms were also nice size. It was tricky getting to our room, but after we made the trip a couple of times we figured it out. There is NO parking for this hotel, and if I come back again I will not rent a car. Parking is super expensive in Porto. Bar staff was exceptional and there is a cool Irish Pub right across the street. We did not have breakfast, opted to try small cafes up the street. ||I would definitely stay here again!

I stayed at Hotel Carrís Porto Ribeira from 20–24 September (room 130), having stayed here a few years ago and enjoyed it. Unfortunately, this return visit was very disappointing.|The hotel is in a fantastic location, and the building itself is full of character. Staff at reception were friendly in manner. However, these positives were outweighed by serious shortcomings in both maintenance and service.|Room condition: The room felt outdated and poorly maintained. The shower door was stiff, unstable, and difficult to open when wet — I reported this twice, but no one attended. The hot water in the mornings lasted less than a minute before turning lukewarm, making showers uncomfortable. The bathroom doorstop was broken with a protruding screw, and the corridor mirror was cracked.|Cleanliness: On the final day, I discovered the mattress had no protector and was badly stained. This was the most disappointing discovery, especially for a hotel advertising itself as four-star superior at €200 per night.|Housekeeping: Service was consistently late (often around 5pm). Despite requests for earlier cleaning, this was not accommodated in any meaningful way. Returning from a long day out to an unserviced room was frustrating.|Restaurant: Signage and menus throughout the hotel advertised the restaurant as “open daily,” but on Sunday evening it was closed with no notice given. This caused unnecessary inconvenience.|Wi-Fi: Connection dropped frequently, requiring daily log-ins.|Overall, the hotel did not live up to the standards I experienced on my previous stay or those it advertises. At this price point, I expected much better maintenance, hygiene, and responsiveness to guest concerns. While the location is excellent, I cannot recommend this hotel until significant improvements are made.

We spent a long weekend at the Oca Ribiera in September. It’s perfectly placed for the waterfront, which is a very very busy area! We had a corner room with two lovely French windows overlooking the river. The rooms are a little dated, but clean and big enough for two people on a short break. We didn’t have the breakfast as we preferred to go out. |No kettle in the room which is a shame. Rooms cleaned every day. Noisy in evening but it’s quite by 11 so no problem. Staff nice and helpful. Would recommend this hotel.

The best thing about it is that the rooms are spacious. Unfortunately they are poorly designed, with everything in the wrong place. Who would use a set of hanging hooks 6 inches from the ceiling? Why would you put the dressing table where it is only accessible from one side of the bed? Why would you hang toilet roll right behind the toilet bowl where the person who needs it can neither see nor reach it? I get that their location requires mezzanine floors, but why have only one lift to serve each set of rooms? (Which moreover is highly idiosyncratic in its operation.) You can use the stairs but they are dangerous and poorly lit. As for finding the restaurant... Don't waste your time trying to ring Reception when the chambermaid forgets your towels because that button doesn't work. Don't order pizza in the bar - worst I've ever tasted. And don't expect a good nights sleep - the location is extremely noisy, with motorbikes racing up the hill at all hours. In short, not recommended.

Nice rooms, recommend taking those listed with good views but service could be improved. Stayed two nights with two rooms for the group. Very nice view with the ‘view’ rooms - and great location for a first time visitor to Porto. Tried using phone for service a couple times but always rang out, staff seemed a little short - disappointing as only accessed our private balcony over an hour after successfully checking in. Bed seemed very firm without choice of alternative bedding - not an unusual experience for a hotel of this calibre - just a case of managing expectations.

The hotel experience was extremely disappointing. Initially placed in a ground floor room, the pleasant room was tainted by the smell of the pillow. The constant noise from the reception area, located just two steps away, and the adjacent elevators made it impossible to get any rest. Despite the need to sleep early after nearly 24 hours of travel to Porto, sleep was elusive throughout the night. Finally managing to drift off at 3:45 am, my rest was abruptly interrupted at 8 am by an aggressive knock on the door by a house keeper, nearly causing a heart attack. I am checking out of this hotel immediately and will not be returning. While the location is exceptional, I am confident that nearby hotels offer superior customer service. If you choose to stay here, avoid room 01 at all costs.

Great location. Hotel is a bit dated, but acceptable. The biggest issue is check in is not until 3:00PM and the staff will not even consider seeing if a room is available before then. At 3:00 everyone lines up to check in and that takes forever. Even at that our room wasn't ready for another 45 minutes. Only person on the staff that was friendly and accommodating was Anna.

Very nice hotel in a great location by the river with fantastic views out of the upstairs bedroom window. The layout is kind of unique in that there is a small sitting area downstairs with the bedroom upstairs. Since it was kind of warm while we were there it was hard to get the bedroom cooled down at night. We did do breakfast at the hotel one day and it was pretty good (lines at the only coffee machine working). Overall a very comfortable hotel with an attentive staff. Recommend!
