Very nice hotel in a great location by the river with fantastic views out of the upstairs bedroom window. The layout is kind of unique in that there is a small sitting area downstairs with the bedroom upstairs. Since it was kind of warm while we were there it was hard to get the bedroom cooled down at night. We did do breakfast at the hotel one day and it was pretty good (lines at the only coffee machine working). Overall a very comfortable hotel with an attentive staff. Recommend!

I recently stayed at this hotel and had a mixed experience. The location is absolutely unbeatable! Everything you could possibly need is within walking distance. Whether it’s restaurants, shops or public transport, it's all right there at your doorstep. If you enjoy being in the heart of the action, this spot is perfect! That said, the noise level is definitely something to consider. The area is very busy, and unfortunately, the hotel lacks proper sound insulation. You can hear traffic, motorbikes, and street noise at almost all hours, which might be an issue for light sleepers. The rooms themselves are basic. There are no amenities provided like toiletries, though you can request them at the reception. That’s manageable, but it would have been nice to have a few essentials ready upon arrival.

Wonderful location right by Cais de Ribera. We stayed in an apartment just a few doors up the street from the hotel where you check in and breakfast(lovely extended continental) is served. Bathroom by the breakfast room has the best view of any bathroom. Apartment is very tastefully modernized retaining old stone wall features. Bed is very comfortable. Service is excellent. On our departure there was a train strike and Diogo at the desk made sure we got booked on a coach back to Lisbon, printed our tickets etc. What could have been a stressful day was no problem at all. Highly recommend.

Great location with access and views to the river (if you get a river view room). Taxi stand is located directly across the street and the area is very walkable with lots of restaurants. Breakfast buffet is all encompassing although at 20euro per person some may deem it pricey. We had a river view with a small balcony. Room was very small (we are used to European sized rooms) with limited space to store suitcases. Closet is like a cupboard with limited space to hang clothes. The hotel has been created within a historic building which may account for the small rooms. Public areas are very nice incorporating contemporary with historic decor. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

Love this hotel! Perfect mix of modern and old world feel. Best hotel breakfast spread we've ever had, and the room was more than we had expected. Having a balcony to sit outside and enjoy listening to the life below while winding down at night was so perfect. Easy walking distance to restaurants and attractions too.

A very clean and efficient hotel with professional staff who are very helpful but not too warm and friendly. We loved the breakfast buffet with its wide variety of delicious food choices. Our room had a balcony with a view of the river which made the stay worthwhile. A minor complaint is the rain shower knob was broken and the elevator was very slow. Overall, great location, comfortable bed , ample breakfast, and amazing view! A good choice for a visit to Porto

We stayed here for 3 nights after leaving a river cruise on the Douro with Riviera Travel. We were very happy with our room, it was clean with good quality bedding and towels. We were a little puzzled about the window between the bedroom and bathroom but were relieved to find we could close it off completely by using the controls for the blinds in the bathroom.||Unfortunately I feel I can only give this hotel 3 out of 5. Why? It is NOISY because of the busy road, the presence of an Irish pub and constant traffic all through the night. Not sure what the rooms at the back are like but we were on the second floor at the front of the hotel. I always use ear plugs so I wasn’t too affected but my poor husband was kept awake for most of the night. ||The lifts are slow which makes it awkward if you have luggage, we used the back stairs a few times. The restaurant is on floor -3 and we got lost trying to find our way back to our room on our first morning.||Such a shame that this hotel is in such a noisy spot. It is a very clean hotel with polite and helpful staff. It is not a relaxing place to stay.

In early May, I arrived early at the Hotel Carris in Porto. Employees offered to hold my luggage until check in time. Upon my return to the hotel a few hours later, I found that one of my bags had been stolen from behind the reception counter. Even to this date, the hotel has not offered compensation of any kind despite the fact that my luggage had been fully in their possession with the understanding that my items in their safekeeping. I have reached out to management who have shown no response, which I find completely unacceptable. Will not be using this hotel again and would recommend to others to find other accommodations in Porto.
