Walking off a not-too-busy city street into this hotel's reception area is almost like stepping back in time. You leave the heat and bustle of the street and enter a cool, calm reception area with a traditional stone floor. I arrived well before check-in time but the receptionist calmly directed me towards the restaurant where I could have coffee whilst my room was prepared. Which took less time than drinking the coffee. Upon completing registration, I ascended in an old-fashioned lift (elevator to my USA readers), reminiscent of so many Parisian hotels with the quaint cage lift which crawls its way up the building in the stair well. On reaching the second floor (3rd floor if you're American) I walked along a cool dim corridor to my room (pictured). The staff are friendly, helpful and totally unflappable.
