How is this hotel only rated 1 star?? It’s simply beautiful, gorgeous old building right in the middle of town. Rooms are basic but lovely with a good bathroom - great shower - great pressure and plenty of hot water. There’s a communal lounge where they light the open fire every evening around 6pm, very cozy place to sit, read, enjoy a drink or even work at one of the tables. Breakfast was included and was homely - not a buffet instead they bring you tostada, fruit platter, potato tortilla/eggs, coffee, juice, cheese, jamon and homemade cake. Impossible to eat everything. No parking onsite but public car park is just a short walk away. No elevators either so avoid overpacking if possible so no lugging heavy stuff upstairs. The whole hotel was super clean, it’s clear they are very conscientious in this regard. What a wonderful place to stay! Only complaint is to please take a look at the WiFi connection - was almost unusable so if you’re relying on it for work or anything that will cause some frustration.

This boutique hotel was AMAZING ! The staff who were beyond friendly and helpful from the time we arrived to our very last minute there ! They made us feel at home and went out of their way to get us anything we needed. I realized I forgot my Apple Watch in the room when I had arrived at the airport so I gave them a call to see what my options were and they shipped out my watch 2 days later to New York ! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR GOING ABOVE AND BEYOND FOR US! ❤️ we’ll deff be back :)

So disappointing We came here for dinner last year and were really looking forward to a repeat but we went in to book a table for tomorrow night and were told it is now only open for hotel residents.. such a shame

I was very impressed with the food, staff, service, cleanliness, decor, and great views of the Quiviesa River. The food was delicious. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable of their dishes. The bar, dining area, kitchen, and bathroom were very clean. We will return for sure before we leave Potes. I highly recommend it.

Had dinner here and it was absolutely delicious, lots of dishes which were served at the perfect pace. Both the fish and meat were brilliant, the black pudding apple local speciality not to be missed and the make sure you save room for the desserts. Chocolate cookie cheesecake was divine. Lovely service too.

We did a 12 day tour of Northern Spain. We had our best meal here. No outdoor terrace but plenty of breeze and view of the gorge. Highly recommend the veal chop to share. In fact order everything to share! Great advice given and excellent English spoken. Grilled vegetables delicious. They make their own wine- Luisia. Very good. We came back a second night.

Yelp
Gayle and I were returning from Fuente De that included a ride up the gondola and a gorgeous hike around a small slice of the Picos de Europa. Our big regret was not completing the 4+ hour hike down, but in fairness we hadn't packed enough water, snacks, and layers. If we ever come back, we'll stay at the Parador and this area a little more justice. It was now 3 PM and in Spain that means that it was Lunch time. We were now in Potes and one Tour book (Northern Spain Handbook by Footprint) recommended Casa Cayo. It was a fine choice. We were seated by the window and the views of the river and the nearby peaks were very pretty. The place very lively, cheerful, sunny, and a great place to hang out and soak up the local ambiance. We also had a great server who took very good care of us. We both enjoyed one of the local stews and shared over a bottle of nice wine. Flan and coffee (solo for me, con leche for Gayle) finished off a nice meal and a fun hiking portion of our day.

Yelp
Very good traditional spanish food. The place was packed however they were still able to serve us within a reasonable amount of time. Before lunch we had drinks at the bar in the front They give you a small snack which is part of the costume in Spain.

Yelp
My sister and I stayed at Casa Cayo for two nights and it was in every respect an amazing experience. We arrived in the late afternoon exhausted after a long drive and were immediately greeted by a friendly young staff member. After asking our names he summoned two other men who worked there and the three of them pretty much ran up the three flights of stairs to our room carrying our heavy luggage, smiled at us, and promptly left to let us unwind. Our room was very nice, with double-paned windows. We had breakfast and dinner in the restaurant downstairs twice, and each meal was unbelievably delicious. The waiter went out of his way to recommend activities for us and served us gluten free bread (gluten intolerant here),. On our last morning there the bartender made a phone call for us so we could try to reschedule a cave tour. Casa Cayo was a wonderful experience, and I hope to come back to Casa Cayo one day soon, for a longer stay and with my entire family!
