Casa Das Senhoras Rainhas, Obidos, Portugal - Explore & Book

"Obidos is one of Portugal’s crown jewels, a walled town with a castle and ramparts. It was taken from the Moors in 1148 by King Dinis I, who gifted it to his wife, holy queen Isabel, and for 700 years it was an integral part of the house of Portuguese queens (the hotel’s name). It was partially destroyed by an earthquake in 1755, but much survives. There are 14 churches within the walls and fine azulejos (antique tiles) in each gatehouse. This grand old building stands against the eastern wall; you can sit on your terrace drink in hand, the envy of tourists circling the ramparts above you. Dine in the garden in summer or in the restaurant itself, or help yourself to a drink in the sitting room, where an open fire smoulders in winter. Outside, bougainvillea roams on whitewashed walls, cobbled lanes wait to be explored. Climb the hill to the west to find a very pretty miradouro with views over the town, and a bar with jazz on Friday nights in summer. Beyond the walls you’ll find a tidal lagoon and the long, wave-laced sands of Foz do Arelho. Highs Touring Obidos on the rampart walls - a lovely town to explore The tasteful rooms, most with balcony or terrace overlooking the walls Plenty of festas, including street processions over Easter, a medieval market in the first week of July, and a chocolate festival in November A warm welcome and very helpful service Overall a more stylish (and less expensive) hotel than the town's better-known pousada Lows The town can get clogged with tourists in high season You're not on the coast - Obidos used to be, but the sea has retreated In keeping with conservation laws inside the walled citadel, there's no pool Recent feedback mentions music on the terrace going on until late evening, which may be an issue for early sleepers on the ground floor" - Tom Bell

Hotel Casa das Senhoras Rainhas offers an absolutely magical experience, perfectly situated within the historic city walls of Obidos. Its prime location provides unparalleled access to the charm and beauty of this captivating old town. From the moment we arrived, the hotel staff's warmth and hospitality were exceptional. Natalia's welcoming check-in, complete with a delightful shot of Ginga (a must-try local liqueur!), and her insightful recommendations for dining and exploration, set the tone for a truly memorable stay. Her genuine helpfulness and friendly demeanor made us feel instantly at home. Our room was simply beautiful, boasting a stunning view of the ancient city wall and the hotel's charming restaurant courtyard. The comfortable bed and impeccable cleanliness ensured a restful and relaxing stay. The ambiance of the room perfectly complemented the historic setting, creating a truly immersive experience. Our two-night stay at Hotel Casa das Senhoras Rainhas was nothing short of delightful. The combination of its perfect location, attentive and friendly staff, and beautiful accommodations makes it an ideal choice for anyone seeking an authentic and unforgettable experience in Obidos. We wholeheartedly recommend this hotel and eagerly anticipate our next visit.

This beautiful hotel is just inside the town wall, free parking a few hundred metres away . Be prepared to carry your luggage over cobbles ...so travel light. Breakfast was excellent with lots of choice. There is a bar attached to the hotel which served good food and drinks. Clean rooms, very helpful staff

Everything was good. My review could be 5 star if I had good experience when I was check out. I made reservations for a taxi to the train station at front desk one day before my leaving . I was told no problem. Next day after check out I was told no taxi, but they could call Uber. However not at hotel, they sent one young lady to lead us the location and it turned out a bus station and she doesn't understand English. If I did not plan ahead, I would miss the train.

The hotel was very quaint. We walked to up to it and thought that this is going to be very nice. We were put in the annex building The annex building across the street not as nice. The bathroom sink was absolutely pathetic. It was so small if you leaned over you hit your head on the wall in front of you. Plus, there were no outlets at all extra to plug in any device. You had to unplug a lamp to get any plug at all. It’s inside the wall, which is nice and it’s not very expensive. The breakfast was nice. The dinner was just OK. Fortunately for us, we are only there one night. Would I stay there again probably not. You don’t have to be in the city center to experience the town.

Great location walkable to all attractions inside the wall, specifically outside the hotel there is a direct stairway to climb up the wall to enjoy the beautiful view! Very friendly staff and wonderful breakfast. If you drive, car has to park outside the wall (only residents are allowed to park inside the wall) so dragging the suitcase up and down the stairs and cobble stone street is a nuisance.

Unfortunately not a hotel I would recommend. The 'bathroom' was quite frankly a joke, the door opened onto the toilet and there was just enough room between it and the shower. The thin partition didn't reach the ceiling. The shower spray had one horizontal position up high, I would not expect to have to hold the shower hose to wash in a (advertised) 4* hotel. Also the mould on the ceiling was not an attractive look. The blackout curtains were torn didn't reach the end of the rail and the early morning light shone onto the pillows. The hot cooked breakfast of scrambled egg, bacon and tomato was cold. We did have a view of the old city wall but likewise people walking would have a good view into the room. Positives: The reception staff were friendly. The bed was comfortable. Any of the hotels in theold town would be in a good location

If you’re looking for a place that is deeply connected to the local history and culture, this is the perfect spot for you. While there is no parking inside the walls due to traffic regulations, you can park your car just outside, very close to the hotel. The rooms are spotless, with fresh, fragrant bed linens. The shower is hot with strong water pressure. The breakfast is wonderful, featuring regional cheeses, freshly brewed coffee, and delicious scrambled eggs.

The hotel is inside the walls of the city, so the location is great. However the rooms, at least those in the annex building, are definately not 4 star. The shower and toilet are in a closet sized space, the bathroom sink is an afterthought with no storage and no electrical outlet nearby for a blowdryer. The bed was comfortable, and the linens fresh. Breakfast was nice, and the staff friendly. But definately not 4 star rooms. If youre here for one night its clean and well located, but no more.

Yelp
A Very clean within castle walls hotel that's worth staying. Front desk staff is multi ligual and friendly. Our Hotel room Bathroom had a wash bidet, was modern, and very well kept. They have a good size continental breakfast and they serve lunch and dinner there as well. This hotel is a very secret romantic get away stay. Highly recommend you stay there for both comfort and it's location. The only negative is that parking is very limited if you arrive late evenings or in the summer months.
