I spent a week last month. It was worth it. After searching for a while, I narrowed this hotel and another two months before the arrival date. A minivan (collectivo) from the airport dropped me right outside the hotel door. Hotel Casa de la Tia Tere, is a few blocks away from the famous markets, the church square and the well known restaurants. Breakfast was included in the room rate paid.||Since I was out in the morning, and arrived back late at night, I could not use the pool. The parking is behind the pool area, and the entrance to the parking is from the street parallel to the entrance.||For one’s convenience, the person at the reception will call a taxi if one wants to go to parts of the town. ||PROS: The hotel is quiet and spacious. The corridors do not look cramped and the architecture has a traditional feel to it. There is a swimming pool in the back, and the breakfast is on the terrace of a building next to the main building. |The breakfast is not the typical buffet-style, but made from scratch. There is a choice of eggs or something traditional accompanied with fresh fruit plate. |The reception in the front has brochures of various daily tour options. Outside the reception there are few couches for one to sit while waiting for various tour vans to arrive in the morning.||The single room I had on the top floor was bigger than many, and the bathroom had a shower with hot water. The bed was comfortable; Neither hard nor too soft. Both a fan and a AC to regulate one’s preference are in the room. There is a small safe and large TV atop the wooden cupboard.||CONS: There are no elevators; there only a dumbwaiter to transport one’s large suitcases, just in case. Given the layout of the building in relation to the street, the rooms have a window, but it opens into the verandah style corridor. There is no laundry service, but there is a laundromat a block away. Also there is no Uber in Oaxaca.||In summary, I’d stay here again.
