Beds very comfortable. Beautiful courtyard and breakfast mirador. Staff very helpful. Our room was a little far but who cares when we were right next to the pool with plentiful seating and lounges. Who wants to stay in the room? Very quiet with windows closed. Very clean.

Our stay at Casa de la Tía Tere was excellent. The included breakfast changes daily and was absolutely delicious every time. The staff is very friendly, warm, and accommodating, which made us feel at home. The room was comfortable, and even though the hotel was nearly full, the ambiance stayed quiet and peaceful — perfect for relaxing after exploring the city. The location is also ideal: just about a 10-minute walk to the Zócalo and all the main attractions in Oaxaca City. I recommend this hotel 100%! It combines comfort, hospitality, and convenience in the best way.

Great place to stay. Good bed, good air conditioning, good location, nice people, gorgeous heated pool, breakfast included. Food was just ok - they advertise 'homemade bread," but it's just white bimbo bread. It's a minor thing, I guess.

Great place to stay near the old town. There are a few rules but nothing unreasonable for a small hotel. Since reading previous reviews, there is no curfew and the WiFi is now on all night 👍 Old school decor but cleaners everywhere you go. The pool garden is as good as the photos suggest. Swim then breakfast on the terrace was a perfect start to each day! Our room on the first floor got hot overnight but we put on the air conditioning for a few minutes then it was ok.

I love this place. It's a little out of the way but the grounds are beautiful, the pool is lovely and the service is great. The only thing I have some problem with is the breakfast. The juice is not fresh juice and other things seem like Costco food. But I'm picky.

I spent a week last month. It was worth it. After searching for a while, I narrowed this hotel and another two months before the arrival date. A minivan (collectivo) from the airport dropped me right outside the hotel door. Hotel Casa de la Tia Tere, is a few blocks away from the famous markets, the church square and the well known restaurants. Breakfast was included in the room rate paid.||Since I was out in the morning, and arrived back late at night, I could not use the pool. The parking is behind the pool area, and the entrance to the parking is from the street parallel to the entrance.||For one’s convenience, the person at the reception will call a taxi if one wants to go to parts of the town. ||PROS: The hotel is quiet and spacious. The corridors do not look cramped and the architecture has a traditional feel to it. There is a swimming pool in the back, and the breakfast is on the terrace of a building next to the main building. |The breakfast is not the typical buffet-style, but made from scratch. There is a choice of eggs or something traditional accompanied with fresh fruit plate. |The reception in the front has brochures of various daily tour options. Outside the reception there are few couches for one to sit while waiting for various tour vans to arrive in the morning.||The single room I had on the top floor was bigger than many, and the bathroom had a shower with hot water. The bed was comfortable; Neither hard nor too soft. Both a fan and a AC to regulate one’s preference are in the room. There is a small safe and large TV atop the wooden cupboard.||CONS: There are no elevators; there only a dumbwaiter to transport one’s large suitcases, just in case. Given the layout of the building in relation to the street, the rooms have a window, but it opens into the verandah style corridor. There is no laundry service, but there is a laundromat a block away. Also there is no Uber in Oaxaca.||In summary, I’d stay here again.

The best thing about this hotel is the pool area, which is great for relaxing on a hot day - not many places in Oaxaca have something that compares to this. There are however a number of issues. The rooms are very basic and quite dark. Amenities provided, such as hand sanitiser, shampoo and shower gel, have signs stating that you are not allowed to take the items with you (a fair comment but a little condescending for adults and hardly makes you feel welcome). The main issue with this hotel is the breakfast, which is awful - the worst we had in our 2 month stay in Mexico. For the price, I would expect something much better. Lastly although they do provide 500ml bottles of water in the room (per day), this is not particularly eco friendly. Despite having a water dispenser in the hotel, there is a sign stating that you are not allowed to fill up water bottles from it and you are told off if you try to use it - unsure for the reason why this is, but I would expect free drinking water as an absolute minimum for any high quality hotel.

Watch out! I stayed here in 2019 and read the negative reviews and disregarded them. If I didn't experience this 1st hand I never would have believed it. The hotel is located on a narrow street with no parking. I squeezed our car in so other traffic could squeeze by. The front door was locked at 1:15PM. Another guest thankfully let me in (they give keys out). The clerk (wouldn't tell me his name) said we couldn't check in until 2PM... Fine. Can we park our car and get it off the street? No. Can we wait by the pool? No. Can we have a key to the front door so when we return at 2PM to register we can get in? no. Can I speak with your supervisor? no. |The pool was 1/2 full of water. The parking are the hotel provided was full and behind a Stalag 13 style gate. How it opened or closed was not apparent.|We've been in Mexico a month and love the country. We drove 200 plus miles to get to this hotel and was so infuriated by the attitude of the clerk I asked for a refund. The clerk agreed, but I doubt his honesty. Finding a nice hotel on a Friday afternoon was impossible so we drove back to Puebla the same day just because of this person's horrible attitude. I've served the public over 50 years and attribute the service to the owners that must condone despicable treatment of guests. I will follow this up and will expect a full refund.
