Hotel Casa Gardenia (Quito, Ecuador) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"A colonial house from the 1700s in a residential pocket of Quito's historic center, Casa Gardenia sits close enough to the Basilica and main plazas to walk but removed from the tourist crush. Original architectural elements like stone walls and wooden beams remain, balanced with contemporary furnishings. Rooms open onto a central patio and offer city views, though the real appeal is the location: you're near the Sucre Theater, the Metropolitan Cultural Center, and Plaza San Blas without being in the thick of it. The buffet breakfast is included, and the neighborhood's residential character means you can actually get some sleep." - Tablet Hotels

Small, family run hotel. Very near the old town. Beautiful view over Quito. Comfortable rooms and an excellent breakfast with a lovely fruit platter. Good Ecuadorean restaurant called Rumi nearby. Highly recommended.

Loved my stay at this delightful boutique hotel in the centre of the old town. Clean; tastefully furnished and well equipped rooms, friendly and helpful staff, great location just 10 mins walk from Oalza Grande. Breakfast was fresh fruit and juices, coffee tea and eggs any style. Price was amazing for the value offered. I recommend this casa and will certainly return!

We loved Casa Gardenia, especially the kindness and friendliness of the family proprietors. We had a morning checkout prior to a midnight flight back to the US, but when I felt ill later (altitude plus maybe some suspect shrimp at dinner), they lent me a room, gratis, to lie down in all afternoon while the others went out in search of the Basilica and artisanal chocolate. ||Throughout our stays (we were here two weeks earlier on our way to the Galapagos), they were friendly, welcoming, and helpful. Before our arrival, they offered to arrange for transport to and from the airport, and our taxi driver was both friendly and totally reliable.||The hotel itself is an attractive mixture of a newer interior in the partial shell of an older building, with views over the historic part of Quito from an open-air deck and the breakfast area. They serve a generous breakfast: fresh fruit, eggs, juice, rolls, and a side plate with olives, ham, and cheese. Cereal and milk are available, and of course coffee and tea.||We would absolutely stay there again if we revisit Quito.||Note: I wrote this same review for Expedia, but I think I accidentally clicked "one star" for ecofriendlyness as I exited. I'd give them five stars for that too.

The hotel is located in Centro de Historico, and within walking distance of most tourist attractions in the area. It was recommended to me by my tour guide, and it did not disappoint!||The owner and staff here are so friendly and helpful! We had arrived just a little after 5pm on a Saturday, and it was right after the power was cut off (country wide daily scheduled power outage). The battery on our phones were running low after after flight, and friends that we met in Galapagos the week prior was staying in another area where there was electricity. We were nervous to walk down to the square to meet them, as it was starting to get dark (and there were no street lights due to the power outage), don't speak Spanish, and generally not oriented with the area. Enrique offered to walk down to the square with us, and made sure we were ok before leaving. The next morning, we were feeling affects of the altitude, and he got us coca tea, and advice on what to do to help us acclimatize.||Andre was friendly, offered us water before us heading out. Made sure we got something to eat every morning. There was always fruit, bread, and cook to order eggs and ham! He was extremely apologetic for the power outage, but it was to no fault of the hotel! He provided a portable lamp so that we would have a source of light at night.||Cynthia was also very friendly and helpful, and helped us arrange airport transfer at the end of our trip, and even got the driver to come earlier when we were ready to go. ||Overall, we were very happy with our stay at Hotel Casa Gardenia! Everything was clean and tidy. Service was amazing. The hotel has floor to ceiling windows that overlook Quito, and it's an amazing view! Wifi was fast (when the power was on. Would definitely recommend!

I would love to recommend this beautiful little hotel in the heart of Quito. The room we got was big and comfy. The service was incredible. The owner and the staff make your stay feel at home away from home. We arrive for a short stay and decided in a location close to everything. There is restaurants, historical places, lil stores, pharmacy and ATM.|I think the best thing in the hotel besides attention was the breakfast. So authentic with delicious fruit.

I loved it but it would not be to some people's taste. It is embedded in an old house and an interesting blend of ancient and modern. The front is original while a glass atrium fills the old courtyard. The result is photogenic but also light and airy. There is an excellent view over the rooftops from the roof terrace. However it is bed and breakfast only, with no bar. Tea and coffee are available from the breakfast area, while I was able to order a beer from reception. Very quiet. No lift. Breakfast was average. Location right next to Quito centre excellent. Area felt safe. Helpful staff, when you could find them

Very nice boutique hotel, would stay here again and recommend to others. Excellent rooftop views. Beautifully designed modern, industrial design in a heritage building. Location makes getting to see all the sites in the historic centre very easy. Their go-to driver for airport transfers, Freddy, was wonderful and pricing is comparable/reasonable. Breakfast was fresh and plentiful. We were provided a map with recommendations for sites and food and this did not disappoint at all. We felt our trip was fulfilled with the restaurants we hit on the list. Sound travels in the hotel easily, but guests recognize this and are generally very quiet to not disturb others.
