The reviews about the water are really misleading. There IS hot water, but the water is heated through solar panels, so it is the hottest around midday when the sun is strongest. If it’s been cloudy for multiple days at a time then yes the water will not be hot. Honestly though the temperature in this area is hot enough that if you leave the doors & windows open while you shower you will be just fine. The hotel was very clean, the staff was SO nice & helpful, always smiling & eager to assist with anything. There is daily yoga on an upstairs, outdoor, covered deck with a stunning view of the surrounding hillside communities. The pool is clean & a nice temperature for an evening cooldown after a busy day. The location is what makes this place so amazing, it’s a 3 minute walk to the beach & about 5-7 minutes anywhere else you need to go around town. There’s a really cute coffee truck just around the corner that has live brazilian music & the espresso was divine. It’s a literal 30 second walk down to the row of local street vendors where you can find a ton of handmade, high quality goods for really great prices. I will make one warning & that is of a resident iguana that lives high in the trees right outside of the hotel entrance, I was urinated on by this iguana on the last day of our trip right after checkout. So as you’re leaving the hotel make sure you look above you for any errant lizards that might need to relieve themselves. I was told it was good luck though, so all’s well that ends well! We will definitely stay here again.

We stayed for 7 nights and unfortunately had no hot water. Even after telling multiple reception staff about it, it was never properly fixed. Instead, we were shown an electrical breaker panel and told to flip it on ourselves whenever we needed hot water. Having to open an electrical panel in a hotel felt really unsafe, especially after we saw a small arc flash the first time we tried. After that, we didn’t feel comfortable touching it again. Cleanliness was also disappointing. Our room initially had hair, sand, and stains on the sheets, and although staff kindly changed them, the replacements still had permanent stains. The wristband policy was another odd thing. They require guests to wear a hard plastic wristband all week—almost like something you would wear at a water park. For an 7-night stay, it felt unnecessary and they were uncomfortable. On the positive side, the location is great - close to town and an easy walk to the beach. But with the service issues, cleanliness concerns, and no hot water, I wouldn’t recommend this hotel.

The good reviews for this place must be from a while ago. I will say that the front desk staff Monica and Adrian, go out of their way to help but their hands are tied by an awful little manager named Sergio. As I understand it Sergio has recently taken over the management of this property and in my opinion he should be fired. We booked a five nights day in a suite so that we would not have to eat out every night while we stayed there. Our first night there there was no hot water, nothing to wash dishes with, nothing to cook with but an old scratched up frying pan and a spare random lid, no towels or dishcloths, which I guess didn't matter because there was no hot water anyhow. We were woken up all night long by noise in the hallways because this is a huge party town. The next day, after reviewing cancellation policies which stated 48 hours, I went to the front desk to ask for my remaining nights to be canceled and for a refund for 2 days. I was leaving that day that was willing to pay for the three nights. There was still not a drop of hot water. Sergio, flatly refused to listen to any concerns, basically telling me there was hot water, which the front desk staff came to my room and confirmed that my complaints were legitimate and they were very sorry. Other staff confirmed for me that lack of hot water is an ongoing complaint but the new manager doesn't care. When I pointed out the cancellation policy in writing, Sergio said he would write to the company to have it changed but he was not honoring the 48 hour notice. Other concerns include the fact you have to walk up 2 flights of stairs with your bags, the bedroom itself was outfitted only with a rough sheet and second sheet as a cover, no spare blankets or pillows, there is only one remote for the air conditioner from both rooms so one of you cannot adjust your temperature during the night. There is nothing in the bedroom but a bed and a single side table. No TV or any decor to speak of. It's completely barren. The window in my bedroom was broken off the hinge. The bathrooms have no ventilation and reek of sewage and as mentioned, zero hot water, not even warm. The pool area, while once lovely, needs a great deal of maintenance including pool resurfacing and the hot tub is completely broken. The pool is unheated and freezing. The website mentioned included breakfast but there is no such thing. Also you can hear the beach partying from the hotel. All in all, best to skip it unless you get an amazing deal, which we did not. I wrote a complaint message on FB and emailed them. Sergio replied that it was the previous manager who was the problem, when I answered that it was him, he ghosted me. Sergio has clearly taken this place downhill fast and the long term staff are paying for it. It's too bad as it's clear it was once a great little boutique hotel.

This hotel has a great location. Very nice, attentive staff. The room was spacious and had good AC. Easy walk to the beach and to the main Square in town. Right around the corner from the outdoor market. The pool is refreshing and large for the area. Would definitely stay here again.

This is our second stay at Hotel Casa Loteria Sayulita and we're delighted to report that it was better than ever. It's an extremely well managed hotel in which everything just works (which is not always the case in Mexico). The staff were also very friendly and helpful.

Awful Stay at Hotel Casa Lotería The pipes in our room were broken and smelled disgusting, and nobody ever came to clean. The food was bland and ridiculously overpriced. If you accidentally dirty anything, they’ll charge you an absurd amount of money for it. The location is terrible—you’ll end up walking forever because everything is so far away. Golf carts? Forget it, the prices are insanely high compared to much better options in Sayulita. This place is cheap in quality but expensive in price. Do yourself a favor and avoid it. Americans especially—don’t waste your time or money here.

The location is great. Close to everything but a little on the quiet side. Hotel was kept very clean and staff are very kind. Rooftop yoga included was a nice bonus.

5 stars… Ideally the bar would stay open a bit longer, however it’s possible to drink BYO drinks after bar/restaurant closing. Rooms were nice & cool, pool area nice, and in a great location walking distance to everywhere. Met some great people from all over the world in a social setting around pool area.
