How to Plan the Perfect Trip to Sayulita, Mexico

"El Pueblito Sayulita is perfect just for that, with rooms that are designed like homes with comfy living rooms and kitchenettes. Still, the colorful, Mexican-owned boutique hotel is outfitted with everything travelers need for a great stay: an on-site restaurant, a pool, and a prime spot in front of one of the best surf beaches in Sayulita." - Travel + Leisure Editors

Awful Stay at Hotel Casa Lotería The pipes in our room were broken and smelled disgusting, and nobody ever came to clean. The food was bland and ridiculously overpriced. If you accidentally dirty anything, they’ll charge you an absurd amount of money for it. The location is terrible—you’ll end up walking forever because everything is so far away. Golf carts? Forget it, the prices are insanely high compared to much better options in Sayulita. This place is cheap in quality but expensive in price. Do yourself a favor and avoid it. Americans especially—don’t waste your time or money here.

5 stars… Ideally the bar would stay open a bit longer, however it’s possible to drink BYO drinks after bar/restaurant closing. Rooms were nice & cool, pool area nice, and in a great location walking distance to everywhere. Met some great people from all over the world in a social setting around pool area.

Stayed for two weeks with my wife and on my last week my room was “broken into” when we left on night for a few hours. They have cameras but don’t allow you to view the footage without police intervention. My baseball hat, a bottle of cologne and all the pesos in my wife’s purse were stolen. They hide behind their policies to protect their staff and ratings. Flimsy door locks, loud atmosphere as ongoing work next door wakes you daily by 830am. Staff don’t clean unless you ask them to. We contacted police and management did nothing to compensate or help us! The town is beautiful, the location of the hotel is the only redeemable piece. Very shady practices! there are much better options for the same price.

Good location the rooms were excellent and cleaned every day. Children friendly and the pool was very popular. There is also a rooftop terrace which is a nice place to have a drink and listen to the music from nearby bars drifting up. The hotel management, breakfast staff and cleaners were always helpful. We had a good breakfast every day for 11 days. Recommended.

This lodging is an excellent facility close to the main town locations, the beach and much fine dining. ||The people who you need to interact with are extremely friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. ||Adrian is a dedicated hospitality person who strives to make the vacation experience as enjoyable as possible. His front desk colleague Luis is equally passionate. ||In the restaurant, Jonathon was effortlessly attentive and friendly helping enjoy the breakfast experience. He is very knowledgeable about amenities in the town and speaks excellent English. ||We were there 2 weeks and discovered Mary’s Tacos, La Rustica and the Parisienne Bakery diagonally across from the Sports Bar around the corner. These are real finds. ||The hamburgers at Fongeria directly outside the lodging were excellent and inexpensive. It is essentially a food truck with atmosphere but has flat tire. ||The fresh churros by the bridge at night are great and we went 14 times. ||The lodging is a quaint place essentially a motel on steroids and a standout in a chic town down trodden street that is self contained. ||This facility is not ritzy but offers convenience and excellent value ||The housekeeping is spotty. ||This bed was comfortable and we slept comfortably. ||There’s no hotel amenities so bring your own tissues. ||This not the Ritz Carleton !||And bring plenty of pesos as the smaller shops do not take dollars or convert at extremely expensive discounts

Casa Loteria has several things going for it! We loved the pool, especially the kids pool. The breakfasts were wonderful and the staff, in general, were very friendly, attentive, and helpful. The location is great as you're close to everything. Free yoga class was wonderful on the rooftop.||However, I cannot recommend this hotel and the next time I go to Sayulita, I will be staying elsewhere. From the moment we arrived, we had problems. There were blood stained sheets on one of the beds, our safes were closed and not operable for a night until they had to be opened, one of our showers never had hot water, and the A/C could not turn off for two nights due to terrible remotes and batteries. It was freezing in our place. The next morning after we arrived when we wanted to go to another town, our car was blocked in for about an hour as they searched for the driver of the truck blocking us. To top all of this off, when we shared all of these grievances with the manager THREE TIMES, he did nothing for us. He had said he was working on it as they normally don't give any compensation, but he never followed through. It's really too bad, as the staff is wonderful, the place is beautiful, but the management is terrible. These were all issues that were simple and should have never been problems that we had to deal with on our vacation. I've never stayed in a hotel like this where the management wouldn't make up for their mistakes with the customer.

We stayed with family in a two bedroom suite facing the pool. The room was spacious, clean and had almost everything we needed. I wish they added Kleenex tissue, hair conditioner and robes in the suites. ||There is no gym but they had yoga Monday-Saturday at 8am. This was great and the view from the top was nice.||Our room included Mexican breakfast and it was great. Be advised, the portions were small. Regardless, we enjoyed it.||The pool and jacuzzi were COLD! The sun does not his the pool at any hour so the water does not get any heat. My kids enjoyed it and swam anyway. ||We rented a golf cart and took a tour of Sayulita. You can walk everywhere and everyone is so nice. We enjoyed getting to check out the city and beaches. ||Sayulita is a safe beach city with all the authenticity of Mexico. If you are looking for luxury, this town is not it. If you are looking for a place to walk around, enjoy great food, shop, and have fun.. this is it.

We stayed at the hotel Casa Loteria for two nights and it met most of our expectations! Family friendly, a nice pool, and pretty conveniently located for stores and restaurants and not far at all from the beach. I have stayed at many three star hotels and I come in with the expectation that furniture and things may be worn but I always expect it to be clean. Our room was not clean as can be seen (in the pictures I posted) of all the dirt on and around the doorknob and door. What appears to also be gecko poop on the wall could have been wiped off before it was turned over to us. Maybe there have been employee problems or housekeeping staff issues but that is for the management to work out. I honestly would give these folks another chance but check out the room before. Breakfasts were included with our room and the staff in the restaurant did a good job. The flatware and plates were clean and they were very polite and courteous. I gave it three stars on service because of the housekeeping.... There was no housekeeping. During our two night stay not once did anyone enter our room or do any kind of trash collection or refill the toilet paper. Absolutely nothing.
