We stayed here August 2022 as an LGBTQ couple, and I would say everything in this place is excellent! <3 The staff are so friendly, helpful, and hospitable. They have a great swimming pool overlooking the mountain ranges, and a superb breakfast buffet where you can eat excellent vegetarian friendly food. The best parts were: 1. The customer-centric services from the staff 2. The location of the hotel 3. The rooms with windows and air-conditioning units 4. They left us a candle with rose petals on our 2nd night I highly recommend this place :-)

Style over substance. This hotel has been extensively renovated and is relatively new. The rooms, (we chose a suite) are cold and lack any character. The bathroom we as a prefabricated box in the main space. It felt very functional similar to an Ibis hotel in France. Breakfast was average. The weekend receptionist lacked any customer service skills. Despite previous poor reviews of the restaurant we enjoyed our meal there. Overall ok for 1 or 2 nights only.

This place was absolutely fantastic. After encountering some mis-matches on reviews vs. our impressions at various accommodations in Europe, our family of four walked into this friendly, clean, modern, well-appointed hotel and it was glorious. They were so friendly and even just gave us the code to get in when we were arriving late. We slept so darn well, and enjoyed every moment we were there.||||It's a little hard to find: that's part of its charm as being a modern hotel in the middle of this ancient town. You can walk to all of beautiful Besalu, or over the bridge, and there are a nice little mix of shops and restaurants all a little saunter away. The hotel itself is right at the center of the architecture. A two day stay was maybe enough to see everything, but I could have stayed a week and still enjoyed the view and comfort.||||We stayed in the family apartment on the top floor. It is spacious, awesome view, and has two very comfortable rooms and a long lounge type area to spread out into or to hang out while others are sleeping, as well as balcony. Seriously, if you are two adults and two kids, it's phenomenal.||||The breakfast buffet in the mornings was fantastic, and there's even an honor bar where you can go grab a beer at off hours.||||With the exception of the pool being too cold to swim in in June, and the long stairs to the apartment (which we didn't mind), I can't think of a single thing to warn people about. The people who run this place have put together something special. If you are traveling with a family (of four), I can't recommend the hotel (and the family apartment) enough.

First trip to Spain and wanted to stay in a small village after Barcelona. We had planned to stay only 2 nights but like it so much we canceled our other hotel plans for another village and stayed 2 more nights. This hotel is immaculate, very clean and well run. There is lots of room outdoors with tables and chairs and a small pool that overlooks the village. The village itself is very small and we only found one restaurant that was open. There were a couple of others but they looked like they were for drinks. There are a couple of small grocery stores so we got picnic food some nights. it is about 30+ minutes from a couple of other small village and about 1.5 hours from the coast. There are some gift shops open during the day and closed in the evening. We wanted something quiet and restful and we got it.

Hidden gem in Besalú as charming as the town itself. Extremely clean and well-provided (extra of everything, they even gave us a pair of fluffy flip-flops). The lady in the reception was very kind, we were departing very early and she prepared breakfast for us out of hours.

We arrived in Spain (Barcelona) mid day and drove northwest to Besalu for our first few nights in Spain (on our way to Marseilles). Casa Marcial is on a quiet street in the heart of the walled city of Besalu. The room was spacious, very clean, with a comfortable bed and a good bathroom. We had a charming view through French doors across the rooftops of Besalu. Breakfast was delicious and varied. There was an elevator which we appreciated as we were very tired from the flight and travel with too much luggage! The only word of advice, if you are driving your own car, please talk with the hotel prior to arrival as to where you should park and how to get to the front door of the hotel. The GPS was quite confused as to what streets were drivable or not. But it's worth the effort. An enchanting village.

What an absolutely lovely place to stay in this jewel of a town; the location was right in the middle of this very small medieval village, and the hotel just sparkled with all the amenities one typically finds at a more “upscale “ boutique hotel, robe/slippers... even a box of chocolates on my birthday. Our room on the second floor was spacious and filled with light overlooking the old church... excellent choice to book here (first photo is from the town bride, the second photo from the window in our room)

Had the pleasure of staying @ Casa Marcial with my wife in July 2018. This beautiful property is ideally located on the edge of the medieval town, just a short walk away from the bridge of Besalú and the town square.||The suite we stayed in was spacious, clean, and well laid out. The entire property also offers ample common areas that include patios, a reading room, a breakfast area, and a small outdoor pool. ||Parking, like in many historic places in Spain, can be tricky but the hotel staff gave us great directions to get around. All in all, I’d love an opportunity to stay in this property again!
