I spent 9 weeks at Casa Maricela in 2004. I was alone and scared. Maricela was the sweetest. I arrived at midnight and she seen how scared I was. Left my bags downstairs and got me settled in my room. I had the room on top floor, with a balcony (all in house could use). ||This was an adventure of a lifetime. I attended a school to learn Spanish while there. I loved that I walked everywhere. The panoramic view above the city is a climb, but well worth it. I fell in love with San Miguel and with the house. Then fiancé came and joined me for the last week and we had a vacation. Maricela made us margaritas to celebrate his birthday and I don’t even like margaritas, but they were hands-down the best margarita I’ve ever had. I would drink them if she made them all. She is an endearing woman, very kind And a very special human ||I am now looking at coming back for some dental work. The price of the rooms was much less in 2004 but I am actually surprised it hasn’t went up more because the value is definitely there. You are so close to everything. I always felt safe, never any issues. Her house staff, all of them were wonderful. I am very sensitive to spicy food. A red pepper can send me into a burning mouth situation. Her cook noticed and from then on they made me a special breakfast, so I could start my day off right and not be breathing fire. San Miguel and this house will always have a special place in my heart.

Can’t beat this hotel. Rooftop view is unbelievable, with tons of space for sitting and enjoying a drink or playing cards (can get windy though!) Service was so friendly, they make you feel very welcome. The free breakfast was fantastic! So many delicious options. For the price-point, it’s pretty perfect. Not far from anything, and a stunning place to stay.

What a wonderful place. Very comfortable - super clean. The rooftop was amazing. Nadia the cook made great individualized fresh breakfast every morning. Fresh fruit, yogurt, eggs, oatmeal, pastries. The staff were all very helpful and accommodating. Able to leave luggage after checkout for a late transport to airport. Location was perfect - 5 minutes to Jardin - yet quiet.

Great location with awesome terrace ! room is pretty and is cleaned from day to day. However it is a bit noisy (coming from the house) and we struggled to have hot shower, we had to ask the tenant for fix. Breakfast is nice and well stuffed: fresh juice, pastries, yogurt and eggs

I highly recommend this hotel! The staff were delightful, and very helpful. It is on the edge of the old town so slightly quieter probably than others, with a lovely entrance path filled with plants. There is a lovely roof garden with chairs and a great view. The rooms are not big, but interesting and have everything you need. Ask for one of the two top ones for the best views. Probably best of all were the communal breakfasts (excellent, including eggs etc) where we met many interesting guests. There is a car park about 70m away, which is not cheap but very convenient.

Stayed in late July 2023, decision to book was based on reviews. Good decision. Such a great experience and a nice change from chain hotels. Great views from the roof, sat there for hours. Staff is super friendly, helpful, and breakfast was fantastic. As with all of Mexico, expect noise from parties and events, including the church bells. Highly reccomended.

We love this place! It's like coming home every March. Fine private room w/bath, scrumptious 2-3 course meals (breakfast @ 8:30, lunch @ 2:00), excellent location two blocks from the Jardine and a lovely roof deck with extraordinary views in every direction. The place is beyond spotless. The outdoor glass steps to the roof deck every morning. The staff is so warm and cannot do enough for you. Jesus is a most warm, gracious host who speaks English quite well. His mother's wonderful stained glass and mosaics add to the ambiance.

The location was absolutely fantastic! The staff were attentive and helpful. The daily breakfast was absolutely a highlight of our stay. We enjoyed the time getting to know other travelers and always enjoyed a delicious, authentic breakfast. The rooms are small with thin walls, and the beds are not the most comfortable. However, we truly enjoyed our stay and would certainly return.
