The hotel and surrounding area were just beautiful. The hotel was an oasis of calm with beautiful decor and so comfortable. We loved our stay and the staff were so attentive and friendly, happy to help with any query we had. Our room was with a veranda with exquisite views, comfortable clean with all we needed, lovely to arrive back to after a hot day at the beach. The pools were lovely to cool off in too. The food was exceptional, the breakfast had a wide variety and of high quality. Sitting out on the terrace for evening meals was special with the sunsetting, the prices were little higher than expected but the quality of food and service was excellent. This was the most relaxing stay and most beautiful hotel I have stayed in. Would highly recommend and would love to revisit one day.

Because of our long stay in this amazing country, we decided to explore the different types of hotel/ geographic experiences and The Hotel Casa Palmela did not disappoint. Nestled in the mountains outside of Setubal it is a gorgeous historical estate, converted to hotel. The views are spectacular and food and staff service are excellent! John, the restaurant and dining room mgr, was very knowledgeable and helpful as was the entire team. Suggest booking a larger room without the balcony if you want more space. There are two separate areas/ pools for families and those traveling without children. Ask for a tour of the estate— so much history! There is no fitness Ctr, but plenty of exercise option with bikes, horses and long hikes! This was a unique and wonderful experience!

Hotel was fine. Restaurant was great with great food, view and service. Restaurant was the highlight. Hotel staff are not well trained — we mostly got stuck with the “trainee” who was clearly just that. Massage was wonderful. Room (premium category) was absolutely tiny, impossible to have two suitcases out at the same time. The balcony off the room was wonderful with great view. Pool is sub par and there are not enough umbrellas for all the hotel guests. All in all, not likely to go back.

Attention to detail is evident in everything the staff does. Very comfortable bed, air conditioning and shower…all excellent. Gorgeous location in a vineyard. João oversees the excellent restaurant. Very tasty traditional food with a twist. Ample wine selection. Beautiful garden view from every table. The staff is impeccable. The hotel has a wonderful story from its 500 years of existence. |We walked the vineyard and grounds after dinner. Beautiful and full of restful nooks and crannies. |Already making plans for a return trip in September.

Our recent stay at Hotel Casa Palmela exceeded all expectations, from the warm and professional staff at check-in to the smooth late check-out included in our dine and breakfast package.||The late check-out at 2 PM allowed us to enjoy a relaxing morning by the swimming pool, which was the perfect way to end our stay. The day before, we went on a lovely horseback ride through the woods, surrounded by magnificent views.||We highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a peaceful and memorable getaway. We were especially happy to get engaged there as it is a truly special location with breathtaking scenery.

We had a truly wonderful experience at the hotel restaurant. From the moment we arrived, everything felt welcoming and well thought out. Our server, João, was especially outstanding—kind, attentive, and incredibly thoughtful throughout our meal. João’s recommendations were spot-on and totally elevated our dining experience. Every dish was delicious and beautifully presented - my favorite was the sea bass with vegetables from their garden! The view was gorgeous, the ambiance welcoming, and the service was top notch. We couldn’t have asked for a better evening—highly recommended!

Mixed feelings. The location was wonderful if you need to stay near Lisbon but not in the center - outside Setúbal and close to Lisbon. And all the staff were friendly and professional. We had a villa which appeared luxurious in photos but was somewhat average - one side faced other rooms so we needed to keep curtain closed and one side faced rear of the resort. And we had no hot water the morning of check out. We are ate at the restaurant and while the setting was magnificent with service to match the meal itself was our least favorite in all of Portugal - and quite expensive so we were left disappointed (desert was good though).
