Casa Turquesa, Paraty, Brazil - Explore & Book

"Quaint, colonial Paraty is one of our favourite towns in Brazil: full of history and stunningly preserved, with uneven cobbled streets, colourful painted houses, pretty churches and a rich artistic vibe. Set midway between Rio and São Paulo, it’s was built up as a 17th-century coastal port. Lush forested mountains serve as a backdrop and golden beaches are within easy distance. At times it’s alive with the infectious spirit of Brazilian carnivals or its famous literary festival; at other times it’s bewitchingly laid-back. It's a place to meander, admire the architecture and linger over meals. Inside Casa Turquesa's Portuguese-blue doors, a haven of calm, cleanliness and care awaits. Just 9 rooms wrap around the leafy courtyard and deck-lined plunge pool. There's a library of art books and a colour scheme of snowy white and vibrant brights. Sao Paolo-born owner Tete spent 5 years perfecting her hotel, applying interior design secrets gleaned during many years in France. It was a true labour of love. Today this care and attention is evident in the team's outstanding service and the hotel's homely atmosphere. A true gem. Highs A colonial building with a funky facelift - beautiful rooms, homely touches and an outdoor Jacuzzi plunge pool (a welcome relief after a hot day exploring Paraty) A fabulous location, right next to the harbour and 2 blocks from Party's best restaurants and bars, yet the street is very peaceful Tete and her team are fantastically welcoming, displaying that rare combination of friendliness, approachability and utter professionalism Taking boat trips around the bay, snorkelling in crystal clear waters, swimming with turtles, hiking through tropical rainforest to hidden waterfalls - so many activities on your doorstep We left feeling refreshed and revitalised, fully appreciative of why Casa Turquesa is so renowned Lows It is expensive, but the service and detail offered is incomparable - we left thinking, yes, this is worth the money There’s no restaurant although light meals are available on request, but eating out is part of the Paraty experience Paraty's drains are as old as the architecture, so at low tide you may get an unpleasant whiff No kids under the age of 12 allowed - a plus for some! Strict cancellation policy" - Liz Simpson

Casa Turquesa (Paraty, Rio de Janeiro State) 2 Hotel Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Brazil’s boutique hotel scene has been expanding exponentially, and it’s not hard to see why. Just on the coast alone there are any number of locations that would make an ideal setting for a stylish little getaway, among them Paraty, an old Portuguese imperial town on the Costa Verde, to the west of Rio. This is where you’ll find the Casa Turquesa, a boutique hotel that’s stylish, yet still inviting, and as intimate as can be." - Tablet Hotels

Wow, such a special place. My husband and I loved it. We are artists and love a place with soul and personality, someplace unique. This was that. The staff is great. I read all the reviews and was very glad I knew in advance that: the hotel room safes don't work, beach towels are not supplied for you, the pillows are lumpy (like so so lumpy... I elected to sleep on a decorative pillow wrapped in a nightgown instead) and the beds are hard. The sheets and blankets were itchy ( but once I found a long sleeve 100% cotton top and long skirt to sleep in, I didn't feel the itch and slept fine!) I also read in advance that it takes a long time for water to heat up, and there are tons of nude statues and paintings ( I guess this isn't cool with some parents of small kids). Some things that were not stated in other reviews were that the phone in the room didn't work, the paint is chipping everywhere, the spa and tennis court are non-functional, much is under repair. BUT IT IS SOOOOOO MAGICAL. The view, the size of the room, the outdoor massive tub on our balcony, the quiet beach with the bluest water.... The beautiful pool that was never over crowded, the most amazing delightful funny beautiful woman at the front desk.... Lots of great aspects. The food in the restaurant is mostly shelf-stable fare, but it was good enough to eat a couple of times. We DID adore this hotel but we did NOT like the hotel zone; no good Mexican food anywhere, the whole hotel zone is for Americans, priced for Americans, Ew, not why we left America. We went to the grocery store and ate groceries mixed with room service food. One night we took an uber to downtown Cancun (outside the hotel zone) and had the BEST time! We had interesting street food, heard live music, saw people dancing in the center plaza, etc. The value we got from the hotel for the price we paid was off the charts. You just need to find the charm in things that are chipping or broken or unavailable. If you like thrift store clothes, quiet beauty, loads of history, and oodles of quirk, this is for you. If you want something where everything works and you can't deal with a little rust/chipped paint/broken this and that, then this is not for you. Any artist friend of mine would love it.

I believe in giving positive and negative ratings to help others. This is a great example of you get what you pay for. The raving reviews on this site are bogus. Look at the pictures posted by others, I'll post some also. My wife won't let me post more! The positives? Awesome beach location, just steps to the water. Large clean rooms, cold air conditioner and cheap rooms by comparison to other places nearby. Also convenient location next to large indoor mall, Grocery store, and restaurants. But unfortunately, this is a great example of owner neglect and deferred maintenance. So many repairs undone and needed. Reminds me of a classic hotel from the 1950s, but no money has been spent since. No upgrades and so much lacking. Our first room upon check-in was flooded due to leaking toilet, moved us to another room. Read my picture captions for more info. We're back to all-inclusives after this one.

Casa Turquesa is charming, beautiful, and... needs a lot of work... Pretty much everything on the grounds is falling apart, from the giant sinkhole in the front driveway to the dripping faucets, missing trim, cracked tiles, and foggy, weathered panes of glass throughout the hotel. Your room will have some combination of broken fixtures, leaking shower doors, and cracking paint. The place just feels tired, like it's seen better days. The staff was very nice but also not able to accommodate basic requests, like for pillows or blankets (some rooms were missing blankets entirely). If you know what you're getting yourself into, it does have its own kind of charm, but it's a dilapidated, Hotel California, seen-better-days kind of charm. Families with kids should also know there is nude artwork absolutely everywhere in the hotel. For our office party it was fun to joke about but I can see it being annoying for parents on vacation. I will say that the food was very good. Perhaps new management or ownership could turn the place around. It really needs an infusion of energy and probably a huge cash investment.

I really do not have anything more to offer than what most people have said. It was perfect if you are looking for a small, quiet location. ||We did not have any issues with hot water, the toilet, or air conditioning. I have ATT and my WIFI was iffy. My boyfriend has Verizon and he had no issue with WIFI. ||I read the other post about the beds being uncomfortable and no blankets. We pack to extra blankets and I was very happy that we did!||I only wish there was a coffee machine and microwave in the room.

Hotel Casa Turquesa is the perfect getaway if you're looking for a relaxed, intimate experience surrounded by gorgeous art, beautiful pool deck, beachfront views, and cheerful staff. ||It's a smaller hotel offering cozy comfort. You'll be delighted by the friendliness and attentiveness of everyone on the staff, especially the front desk managers Eduardo and Manuel, and the resort is brilliantly managed by Marisol. Make sure to have a conversation at the restaurant with Oscar who is humorous and entertaining.||The hotel is well suited to young couples and middle-aged travelers seeking pool and beach activities with plenty of shopping and dining venues nearby. Twenty-somethings who want to party all night or stay at an all-inclusive resort should look elsewhere.||The hotel is replete with beautiful paintings and sculptures which adorn the entire property from the lobby, hallways and poolside to the guest rooms. They add verve to your experience. If you like museums, you'll love Hotel Casa Turquesa.||Be advised that the WiFi is spotty and the beds are extra firm, yet this affordable resort will surpass your expectations with its excellent hospitality, customer service, and charm.

My name is Duke. I came to Cancun, Mexico as part of a dental vacation package and selected Casa Turquesa as my hotel of choice. Eduardo and Evanna's service is exceptional!! To me, not only we're the prices fair, it the staff and their attitudes that were absolutely great! The staff, without exception, would go far beyond duty to serve our needs as guests.

Google
I'd give this a decent 3 stars. We only stayed 5 nights but I probably wouldn't have stayed longer. Beautiful interior. Horrendous exterior. They need a heavy remodeling done. Some good and bad things ... AC works great. Beds are hard as a rock. Wifi works fine. Old lumpy pillows. Plumbing is the shits. Location is perfect. Very quiet hotel. Probably because not alot of people stay here. They booked us in the Perla room, which is a ground level room. Slept decent the first four nights. Last night of our stay there was a constant hum coming from somewhere every 3 seconds. Annoying enough I couldn't fall asleep. Wife thinks this place is awesome but if we ever come back to Cancun I will definitely be paying more for one of the higher end hotels. This just doesn't cut it for me.

Google
This hotel feels like a charming 80s movie set, tucked away in the middle of all the generic tourist trap resorts. The staff is incredibly friendly, making the stay even more enjoyable. If you’re not looking for a high-end luxury experience but appreciate ambiance and character, this place is perfect.

Yelp
Case Tourquesa is a smaller hotel which I like. The experience is more like visiting with your family or close relatives compared to a large impersonal hotel. Yes you can easily have your privacy and no one will bother you at all. However - if you would like to make friends, well it is easy to do and welcomed by all. The help is cordial and friendly but respectful of your experience. My girlfriend did Yoga every morning on the beach with a very nice person the hotel brought in just for this. She was ecstatic! the restaurant was more than adequate and room service was good. The rooms were palatial and very comfortable. We had our own patio with our own hot tub - and we got one of the ordinary rooms. We were invited to take a more expensive room and we looked but our first offering was just fine by us. We might suggest asking for different pillows for the beds. Small complaint but they could be better. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We stayed for 5 days of rest and fun and happiness. The hotel concierge was quite helpful to make reservations for us and to suggest fun activities outside the hotel. if you don't want to stay at a really big hotel with an enormous front lobby, try the Casa Tourquesa. It was memorable, fun, relaxing, and a happy time!

Yelp
While the pictures online look great I cannot recommend this hotel. I stayed here for one night before moving to the Hyatt. I'll start with what was good about the hotel: The good: - very unique aesthetic- it felt like living inside of a museum with beautiful one of a kind sculptures and paintings throughout the lobby and the rooms. - pool and direct beach access - shopping mall next door - hotel restaurant (albeit understaffed - more on that below) Now the bad: - horribly understaffed- there was only one person at the front desk (if you can call it that. It's one desk with a computer which is often unattended). I had to wait several minutes just to check out. - outdated facilities. Needs a lot of maintenance- a lot of the facilities are broken or out of order. There was a jacuzzi on the balcony that was broken (and has been for some time). The bathtub in the bathroom was missing a faucet head. - poor cleanliness- the room didn't feel clean. I found a napkin in the abandoned bathtub. The floor felt dusty - wet floor- I don't know what was up with the ventilation but the floor was very wet and there was no way to get it dry even when I tried to mop it up. Definitely a safety hazard. - entrance is not very accessible- you have to climb head up a steep hill just to get from the street level to the lobby - the hotel restaurant is also horribly understaffed and overpriced. I stood around for 10 Minutes and no one even came to greet me or offer me a menu. When I finally did speak to someone they said anything I ordered would be a 40'minute wait. - I can go on and on about what was wrong with this place unfortunately... Overall, I would stay away. Yes, it's a pretty hotel and it checks some boxes (pool and beach access) but it's not worth it in my opinion.

Yelp
I recently stayed at [Hotel Name], and unfortunately, it was a very unpleasant experience. The building itself felt extremely old and in dire need of maintenance. The first impression was disappointing, with peeling paint, creaky floors, and outdated décor that looked like it hadn't been updated in decades. The room I was assigned had a musty smell, and the furniture was worn out and uncomfortable. The bathroom was no better, with chipped tiles and a shower that barely worked. It was difficult to get a good night's sleep due to the thin walls and the noise from the street outside. It seemed like no effort was made to maintain the basic facilities, and it was evident that the hotel hadn't been properly cared for in years. The staff were polite but not very helpful in addressing the issues. When I mentioned my concerns, there was no effort to resolve them or even offer an alternative solution. The hidden fees left me feeling incredibly frustrated and misled. When I booked my stay, the price seemed reasonable, but once I checked in, I was hit with unexpected additional charges that I had no prior knowledge of. that wasn't mentioned anywhere in the booking process. Then, To make matters worse, the hotel staff didn't seem apologetic or willing to explain why these fees were necessary. I felt taken advantage of, and it really detracted from the overall experience. I understand that some hotels charge extra fees, but the lack of transparency at this hotel was completely unacceptable. I won't be staying here again, and I strongly suggest others avoid it unless they're prepared for these surprise charges. Overall, I would not recommend staying here unless you're prepared for an uncomfortable and underwhelming experience. This hotel has potential but is far from the standard you would expect.

Yelp
The hotel was decent. Kinda private and a bit dated. The staff is minimal but very courteous. Elevator didn't work but there were only 3 levels so it wasn't bad. All rooms come with a fairly decent view of the ocean and pool. We stayed in a suite but Jacuzzi tubs were not inviting or appealing. Our balcony was semi private but spacious. The restaurant was available but options were limited. Hotel has seen better days but a good stay for the budget

Yelp
Terrible would not let my dog stay here !!!!!! Elevator broken carry bags to 3rd floor bathroom had foul sewer smells coming from drains toilet handle shower head tub faucet all broken hot tub not working front door shook violently when wind blew through room no coffee, microwave, ice or soda machines room dirty at check in no towels and I couldn't go on

Moraya D.

Yelp
The guy in the front was super rude. He gave us a room infested with bugs and full of mold saying that it was the last room available (lie). We went to see if there was another room the next day talking to someone else and we explained the issue and they immediately moved us. The view was nice and the hotel is in a great location but it was definitely not worth staying there again.

Yelp
It is beautiful , quiet and clean . Those were a couple of important factors for me . The limits if food they had was delicious . I can't wait to return

Catherine B.

Yelp
The view from the property and the beach access were the highlights. The hotel looks and feels as though it had an amazing heyday, but hasn't kept up with all of the new hotels that have come up around it. The staff was accommodating and -- most importantly to me -- the air conditioning worked! I think with a bit of a spruce-up the place would be lovely.

Yelp
The place is good for a quick stay if you will not be in the room. The place is in desperate need of some updates and TLC. The website description doesn't match the stated amenities. The pictures on the website are photo shopped. Nice rooms size. My hot tub wasn't cleaned in what looked like years. There was grime and built up soil. The restaurant has hours but staff is very limited. I tried to order and just wound up on asking down the street. Cute location and within walking distance of the mall and other hotels. Staff were nice. I won't be returning though.

Yelp
I'll preface this by noting I had stayed here a couple years ago, but had such a bad experience I resolved not to write a review so that I could forget about it. However, I'll tell you about my experience so you're aware of the type of customer service you could expect to receive. The reservation was booked through RCI, which has a policy of booking stays in one-week increments. As such, the original reservation was for June 17-24, but I emailed the Casa Turquesa reservation desk on April 19 to see if there was a way to rearrange the dates to make it fit my itinerary. Alan from Casa Turquesa responded and told me there was no way to do so, so I just confirmed with him that I would not be checking in until June 20, unlike the original reservation of June 17. I confirmed a second time with him on June 12 just to make sure that everything was good, as I had heard there have been other accounts of people having difficulties checking into hotels in Cancun. Alan did confirm my arrival date on April 28 and June 13 respectively, so I was confident everything was good. When I arrived at Casa Turquesa, I brought the email correspondence as evidence of my reservation, but the manager, Mus, was extremely rude and unaccommodating. He claimed that I should have called them in advance, even though in the confirmation email Casa Turquesa sent me, it states that should there be any changes to the itinerary, one could call or email them. I did not call because that involved international charges, and I had already emailed them confirming things twice. Mus did not honor the reservation, and when my friend attempted to step in to talk to him, he told her that "he could only speak to one person at a time" and condescendingly asked if he should talk to her or me. He continued having a patronizing attitude and had no semblance of customer service, as he was not willing to work with us, stating that "there is no money involved, so there is no problem with them". However, it was an employee of theirs of confirmed everything was in good order, and as such I tried to tell him that. He refused to listen to logic and in the end, wished us "good luck" in finding another place. The hotels in the nearby area were all expensive, and it was late at night. We had limited resources, and so walking to downtown Cancun was unsafe and dangerous, and it was extremely expensive to take a taxi. As such, we were planning to sleep in the lobby because there wasn't any other option available to us. We were just three girls tired, hungry, sleepy, and frustrated with our experience. Mus refused to help us until speaking to Alan, who he said would be there at 10:30 am the next morning. In the end, we were able to stay in a room because someone "didn't check in". However, I find it unbelievable that in a city that receives a lot of tourists, we were subject to the worst customer service experience and went through a lot of frustration and fear that we would not have a bed to sleep in that night, despite having taken all precautions and being calm and reasonable the entire time. Mus needs lessons in empathy as well as in customer service, because he clearly does not know how to treat people correctly. Customer or not, there was no hospitality and no sense of responsibility from Mus in Casa Turquesa, and that type of ill treatment deserves to be noted.

Yelp
Hotel Casa Turkey! "Welcome to the Hotel California... " If after reading this review you choose to stay at this facility, you need to have your head examined. We arrived at 5 PM the day of our check-in and there was literally no one else around. No guests, no workers except for Guillermo who was there to make photo copies of our passports and get us to sign a document (in Spanish) that stated we were not entitled to any refunds. He then showed us to our room where we found multiple deficiencies. We told him this was not acceptable and asked to have another room. He showed us another identical room that was even dirtier. Since it was now late and he refused to issue a refund, we went back to the original room where we could really focus on all of the fine qualities this facility had to offer...holes in the wall around electrical outlets, no shower head, broken down rusty "jacuzzi ", sand on the tables, stains on the sheets, some weird mold in the shower, no water pressure, and toilet that barely flushed. We were told that all other rooms were either occupied or being remodeled even though we never saw more than 3 people and no evidence of workers or a dumpster that one would see with remodeling. This hotel was obviously a nice place at one time (see the pictures on the internet) but at some point they just quit trying. I thought that $140/night USD was a reasonable rate for the quality I expected (from the photos anyway). There are nice hotels on either side and the location is gorgeous. I think they are just waiting for someone to buy them out, tear it down and start over. Not a good choice to stay until that happens.

Yelp
HAUNTED (seriously. Read below if interested)... Extremely BEAUTIFUL hotel especially when you first arrive... You really start to see all the flaws the longer you stay tho. I think the room i stayed in (301 or 303 I think I took a pic of the room # I'll post it up) .. Paid extra for jacuzzi suite with broken jacuzzis lol (no heads up on that). You can still fill them up like a normal bath tub, but water is naturally heated (could be cold) & they disconnected all jets due to "electrocution risk"? We know that hotel is making more than enough money to fix the jacuzzis or @ least not charge everyone extra labeling it jacuzzi suite you know.. The mini fridge was totally broken and old (didnt work what so ever)/no microwave or anything extra.. the bed was HARD, really hard. There was only two stiff/flat pillows on the king bed. They're real stingy with extra towels/pillows (towels were all real old too) The shower wasnt impressive. Fire hazard actually so be careful not to spray water towards the shower ceiling because they have a normal energy saving bulb with no cover or anything like you dont want to get electrocuted & the shower head didnt have good pressure and sprays everywhere. The beautiful marble tub inside left black marks all over our skin from the bottom somehow? Lightbulb above makeup vanity was out. My man knows Spanish and we spoke to a couple of workers there that also shared haunted stories and werent at all surprised when we confronted them about our haunting experiences.. I guess like 20 years ago a family visited this hotel & their plane crashed, a little girl maybe 6 or 7 years old died and is known to haunt the hotel. They also shared that one of their employees was working a nightshift outdoors, saw someone smoking a cigar in the middle of the night down on the beach property so he went down there to confront him, guess he was a man wearing a suit that disappeared infront of him, he refuses to work night shifts now. Our haunted experience.. First of all, sleeping paralysis like NO other !! I've had it a couple of times in my life but NEVER SEVERAL times a night!! Not just me, but my man too (body builder lol)! First one my man had a dream there was an extra door on the wall across from the bed and "a scary little bloody faced girl came out and shot towards the bed" (keep in mind this was before we asked any employees about the hauntings) he started making weird sounds that woke me up, so I quickly woke him up and that's where the dream ended.. After that, we literally took turns having repetitive sleeping paralysis we ended up having to sleep with the lights and TV on and facing each other cuddling.. Even then, we both felt like we had been kept awake all night every night. Like a weird half awake experience like we could still view the room around us. I never saw anyone or anything, but you cant ignore the sleeping paralysis experience. Our whole stay we barely slept and when we did it wasnt peaceful we felt obligated to be on high alert. Besides that, the food is actually real good considering the food basically everywhere in Cancun is horrible. Oh but dont order the French toast unless you're 8 years old it's SOOO sweet and coated in sugar I literally had a bite and couldnt. Service was really nice .. My bf said they weren't as nice to him tho & gave him bad vibes from the moment we arrived. They definitely hound for tips which is normal anywhere in Cancun.. The pool is nice and the beach is even nicer, Unlike other reviewers, they never gave us any problems about bringing our own food or drink we carried alcohol/boxes of beer everywhere with us.. but we didnt pay for all inclusive because we dont eat that much anyway so I'm not sure if that's why they were lenient ? Soooo, like I said, it's a really beautiful stay. My boyfriend would never ever go back and hated it. But if you dont mind being haunted or even like it, this might be the place for you. But expect to sleep uncomfortable & careful not to be electrocuted.

Yelp
We have visited The Casa Turquesa twice, and really enjoyed our weeks there. It is not a perfect pristine place, but offers much in the way of calm and comfort and service that sets it apart from the mega resorts that march along the Zona in Cancun. Had I written a review two months earlier I would have given you an even, balanced, realistic review of what is on offer and if it will suit you. It's a love it or hate it kind of place. We have even been considering seriously opting into their mini 'share membership option. We liked it that much. Until a few weeks ago when I was doing my books and came across a charge for almost $1500.00 US from Casa Turquesa. We were there last winter but that was paid before we left Cancun. I thought "Oh, how sweet, Himself is booking a coupla weeks in Cancun for us to get away, how lovely!" and I mentioned to him how nice it was that we were going back for some mid-winter weather again. Only I got a blank look. Because he had NOT booked a week, not run a charge with them and had no idea what I was talking about. Happily in this day and age I just called the credit card company and had them reverse it. But unhappily, because it wasn't just a random charge from somewhere on the Yukatan, I know that somebody AT Casa Turquesa had retained our credit card number and all these months later tried to run a big charge on us. What a disappointment. Stay away, that sort of nonsense puts them out of the running. Sadly I don't think we will be going back to Cancun. Casa Turquesa is the only place there I would have cared to stay. What a shame.

Briana V.

Yelp
Pros: Located right on a beautiful beach, delicious chiliaquiles, some nice staff, great room view. Cons: Dirty furniture, not all inclusive as sometimes advertised, only air conditioning in rooms, elevator always broken, no bar, no restaurant, overpriced food, some very rude staff that lies, TV's didn't even work. I could go on with the cons but it just seems as if the owner does not care about this business or his staff at all. Walls missing pictures, furniture/walls are dirty, receptionists/managers seem to hold back a lot of information over activities they try to sell so be sure to ask all the questions and get a receipt.

Yelp
RUN TRAVEL TRANSPARENCY MEMBERS and anyone else looking to stay here!! Travel Transparency you should be VERY ashamed to have this DIVE on your list. I have traveled and lived in several countries. This hotel is the WORST I have ever encountered. 1. Completely deserted like a ghost town 2. Dirty, falling apart, black mold, dirty sheets, and so much more! 3. No towels, washcloths or amenities in the room.... like it hasn't been used in a decade. Dust everywhere. 4. Creepy vibe like this hotel has been condemned and they are trying to get a bit more money until they completely close it down So sorry to leave this bad of a review. But I sincerely hope that nobody else will experience this disappointed after flying all the way here and paying $140 a night!!!

Yelp
Hotel looks like abundant. There are lots of thing to mention about it. Everything is old and not replaced or changed. This is totally scam and I believe it is bankrupt . Elevator is not working walked up with my luggage.

Yelp
A comfortable, quaint boutique hotel in the middle of the Hotel Zone. It's far from being the Spring Break party atmosphere since it's rooms are limited, clientele probably older, and decor akin to staying at an art museum. The amenities are basic since it's not all-inclusive. But it's sufficient for those looking for a quiet getaway. Enjoyable a with the proper expectations.

Jesse M.

Yelp
Hotel is beautiful but had better days. A constant was water shortages for a couple of hours, this did not work well for us. The ceiling tile in our bathroom showed damage due to leaks on A/C -black mold?- condensation of water of A/C grid had dripping water coming down on my face. Relocated to second room, which was a bit better. Overall this place that looks great in pictures is too unpredictable , we only eat one warm meal at their restaurant which was overpriced and not so good. Service personnel is very nice and responsive, management not so much. Don't recommend it.

Yelp
Bed bugs!!! Bed bugs!!! I promise you that you need to avoid this place. I even saw droplets of blood on the sheets...super outdated and it was just disgusting. I left after 5 minutes of inspecting the room. The worst I've seen and been too.

Yelp
Pretty little boutique hotel on the beach in the hotel zone of Cancun. The hotel itself is surrounded by giant hotel/apartments and I would imagine could be affected by surrounding noise in peak season. The beach is stunning, rooms with sea views are spectacular and clean but not that well lit (romantic) The bathroom area is big with plenty of cupboard space, there is a safe in room (rental) and a small fridge in the bedroom but bring your own kettle. Wifi is paid for and a bit patchy. Room service was efficient but the beach 'bar' service was somewhat erratic. All the staff seemed very friendly, given my level of pigeon Spanish. Special mention for Missy for being so helpful throughout our stay.

Yelp
This place is amazing! Staff is top notch. View is beautiful. Pool. Restaurant. Super nice room. Outdoor jacuzzi tub on the patio that leads to the pool and beach. I can't express enough how wonderful this place is.

Yelp
The hotel Rooms are all very old. The beds are hard, couches very old with stains, the lamps shades are stained, the cupboards are old wooden with rust, and when we arrived, there was water all along the bathroom floor with 1 clean towel and 1 shower gel. Only after asking them to clean the floor and bring towels did that get cleared up. The manager was not fun to deal with either. Made rude jokes about giving us the "worst room" which was not funny. The manager was incredibly rude. He also did not inform us that we had free breakfast and wifi daily and tried to sell us on the all inclusive package. The all inclusive package while it is meant to make you feel like you walk away with a good deal, but they charge 75$ which you couldn't spend here if you tried. Overall worst experience ever. The reception or concierge is a hit or miss whether they will answer. Jacuzzi outside is cool but again outdated. Keys are not electronic, they are manual old school keys. Internet is 12$ per day. Overall I would not come back after my 7 day trip here unless they revamped the place and improve customer service. Don't be fooled by that other comment about "customer service second to none". The customer service here is below average at best

Yelp
Worst! Worst, worst ever!!! We had an experience taken out of a horror story. I first rented this hotel through Hotel Tonight, the pictures were great, it offered 24 hour room service & price was excellent. I should have read the reviews. When we arrived, the hill that takes you to the front of the hotel was very steep, which isn't really a problem, the problem is that it's made out of bricks and the bricks are all out of place, so not only are you driving at a weird angle, you're also trying to avoid busting a tire. Once we were in (11:10pm), the hotel was in complete darkness, I asked if there was no power, and I was told there was, but the manager turned off lights at 11:00pm as per the hotels rules. Then I proceeded to ask whether they'd had room service as described and was told no, that the manager was also very strict and we couldn't even get bottles of water. I didn't make a big fuss about it as we were extremely tired from a 5 hour drive from Yucatan to Cancun. Once we were escorted to our room, the room was big, definitely has potential, except for the fact the sliding door facing the beach was broken and didn't lock, the bathroom wasn't cleaned at all. Then the worst part, BED BUGS! Live, jumping bed bugs!!! The sheets were white, so it was easy to see those little insects jumping around, there were droplets of dried blood on the bed. The couch was full of mold, it was HORRIBLE!!! I told the guy we were leaving and he didn't even apologize, now that I am disputing the charge with Hotel Tonight, they're telling me that 'Oscar' offered us a free upgrade to the presidential suite and since we turned it down I cannot get a refund. LIES! He never offered an upgrade. He never apologized. Do not go here! It is horrible!! We ended up at Krystal Cancun & it was a bliss!

Yelp
Worst place ever. we booked a two room suite for 01/01-07/2018. Our suite was suited on the 1st FL. We discovered that our balcony door was broken, had to wait for maintenance to fix it. Had a broken window in the common area, furniture against the wall outside our door(hazard). The jacuzzi was rusted and the ceiling fan full of molded dust. Broken blinds, curtains and couch stained. WIFI not free and slow. We only stayed 1 night. Don't fall for glossy pictures as they dont depicts reality.

Yelp
I stayed here for 4 nights and the experience was not what I expected. First off, the gate going into the hotel had to be manually lifted to let cars in. Wow!! I paid for the room upgrade and was disappointed by the hard bed and stiff pillows. The views were great but this place def needs to spend money to update their hotel. I was charged for wifi each day and the connection was poor. Overall, I would not go back.

Yelp
I do not recommend Hotel Casa Turquesa. This is probably the worst hotel I have ever been to. Even though the location is great, the condition of the rooms was unacceptable. The bathroom had water damage from water dripping from the ceiling with black mold underneath, water dripping from the A/C grille on top of the bed at night, and water shortages during the day and night are the problems we had. Management cut the water without notification, which made taking a shower an ordeal. The morning of our flight back home we had to wait two hours to take a shower (we had a plane to catch) There was a white couch in the room that is taking up space but is not of use since it has mold stains all over, just too dirty to sit on it. On the third night after much water was dripping from the bathroom we were assigned to another bedroom with basically the same problems. Maintenance of the building is overdue, they just keep on patching the building up. We will be back to Cancun, but will definitely NOT stay at Hotel Casa Turquesa.

Yelp
We spent 4 days and nights with the folks at Casa Turquesa, and I can not say enough nice things about our visit. The views, the restaurant, all were among the best I have experienced in Mexico. However the Hospitality was second to none. Our room was clean, well appointed and comfortable. We were there with our 9 year old daughter. The quite and sarnie environment, made me nervous she may disrupt the seen, but the staff and other guests seemed happy to have her, and nicknamed her the "snow girl". Casa Turquesa will change your definition on hospitality.

Yelp
Old and shabby hotel. Booked a room today but had to leave... Smelly and badly maintenaid! What a pity... I guess this was a beautiful hotel once - like 20 years ago.

Yelp
I wanted so badly to like this hotel, because I heard it was elegant and art-oriented, but I had a pretty bad experience. I stayed for four nights and the environment wasn't that great; the view outside of the beach was really really lovely and beautiful but -- there was only one picture in our room that wasn't of a naked woman (out of about ten paintings), and I was traveling with my family and a CHILD here. It made for a pretty uncomfortable scene to be staying at, and not at all what I expected or wanted to see of 'art'. We also found a hair on the bathroom vanity as soon as we checked in, to which I thought 'ok that's excusable' , but the next morning we found a cluster of dark brown hair at the foot of the bed on top of the sheets, and no one of my family has hair that color. This got me wondering about the overall cleanliness of the hotel and if they were even changing the sheets, but I just told Walter at the front desk (who seemed horrified but really didn't do anything about it) and moved on from it. Then when we got back to the hotel that night, I opened the sheets to climb in bed and and the bottom fitted sheet wasn't pulled down all the way so it came untucked from the mattress, and there was a short, curly brown/black hair that had much too suspicious of a resemblance to a freaking pubic hair. At this point that was just unacceptable, and a sloppy, sloppy job. It was also incredibly annoying that we couldn't bring food into the hotel, and the staff tried to pass that off as "for your own safety".... Why should I have to buy from your cafe if I just need a simple snack like an apple or a bag of chips, not a full meal; this policy was kind of ridiculous. Overall, this cute boutique hotel was not at all worth the stay and the hygienity has grossed me out a lot, if I go back to Cancún, this place doesn't deserve a second chance or even a second thought for consideration.

Yelp
Had a great time staying here! Close to the fun night life of Cancun, but private enough to get away for a relaxing vacation. All the guests there loved the manager. He was kind and always took care of the hotels guests (plus he's super funny). I already plan on going back next year. I 100% recommend staying here when you go to Cancun!

Yelp
I totally loved the hotel, so private and elegant, also the front desk agents were super nice and always trying to help on anything! I would totally stay here again! Plus is steps away from the Luxury Plaza, and the views are incredible! Thank you!!!

Yelp
This was one of the worst places I have ever stayed at!!! Stains on every piece of furniture!! Mildew and black mold on the bathroom walls. The place is extremely outdated. We stayed for one night and that was more than enough. They were fixing the ac for 50% of our stay. People were constantly coming in and out of our room. It never was fixed and it was hot!!! We're asked at check in "why we chose the ugly room?" And the manager that was a arrogant jerk tried to up sell us to another room. We were not told that there was free breakfast. The tennis court hasn't been up kept since the 80s and neither was the in room jacuzzis. They were full of dirt and rust!! This place is terrible. The internet never worked. The pool had garbage floating in it constantly!! It wasn't filled up all the way and tiles were falling off. It appeared that the owners friends would come by with their children and use the pool. The pool bar was a disgusting joke!! I would not recommend this to anyone trying to enjoy.
