Cases de Son Barbassa, Capdepera, Mallorca, Spain - Explore & Book

"Up in the northeast tip of the island, looking over olive and almond groves to the castle of Capdepera and a sliver of blue sea, sits this stunningly chic little hideaway. It’s classified as an agroturismo, but the swanky infinity pool flanked by muslin-draped daybeds, the adults-only spa with lomi-lomi massages, and the stylish glass-walled restaurant make it feel much more. 20 suites and rooms are spread across 3 cases (houses): the 16th-century farmhouse, an attached wing and a more contemporary hilltop villa with its own pool. Expect cool white interiors with beamed ceilings, a smattering of art and sumptuous bathrooms. Friendly staff will supply hiking and cycling maps (try the 75-minute trail over maquis hills to the lovely sandy sweep of Cala Torta), arrange watersports at the more developed beaches of Cala Ratjada or Mesquida, book tee times at any of 4 golf courses in the vicinity, or offer pool towels and gazpacho lunches if you prefer a lazy day in. Do factor in some of the latter: there are few better spots to do very little. Highs A real sanctuary from the crowds of Cala Ratjada and Mesquida: you’ll feel pampered, privileged and very peaceful hereWe loved lounging by the sleek pool with lazy novels and cold drinks from the boho chic pool barLots of shady spots to sit and sunbathe: most rooms have terraces, the spa is a real suntrapWe loved dining al fresco under the inky evening sky, surrounded by colourful flowers and chirping cricketsFive beaches within 10 minutes’ drive, and some even lovelier ones within 30 Lows You’ll need a car to reach beaches and villages, but it’s not farWe felt that the flavours of our dinner did not quite match the idyllic setting and presentationWhile children are accepted (and welcomed), we reckon it’s more of a couples’ hideaway" - Michael Cullen

Beautiful boutique hotel. Simple rustic chic styling , excellent food well above our expectation and friendly informal staff. Highly recommend for a countryside stay with beautiful pool.

Wonderful rural hotel in beautiful setting. Our room (in the Dart annex about 5 minute walk from main hotel) was lovely with a great pool for the four rooms in the annex. Food in the restaurant was great with lots of choice and the service was first class. We felt very welcome and at home.

Awful. Basically I left. The place is incredibly unprofessionally run. The owner was awful. The oven in the restaurant not working. The bedroom had no windows even though I’d booked a superior suite! I was treated like a someone they didn’t trust. They kept making mistakes but never apologised! I’d been asked to pay an online advance deposit at the time of booking which I did via the link I’d been sent. It came back as paid so I assumed that all was booked and in retrospect the hotel didn’t contact me to say otherwise. On my arrival at the hotel I was initially told that they couldn’t find the deposit paid hence the delay in taking the remaining balance although they took an imprint of my card. I was then told in the restaurant and later by the pool that they’d found my deposit payment! Then a hour later when I requested a drink they refused to serve me saying in fact they hadn’t found the deposit! By now I realised that I was better off staying somewhere else. So they lost out and I escaped what would have been a stressful two days! And lucky for me that my deposit hadn’t gone through. Their system problem! I’ve read their response to this review and all I can say is that they are blaming a client and not acting responsibly! I had no idea that they had tried to charge my card without my being present! I had been told that I could go to the reception after the pool to complete this. So of course my bank wouldn’t make the payment without me present to key in my security code! Even more unprofessional!

Absolute mess from the moment I arrived. The receptionist was in a nervous state. I had to wait 20 minutes to get checked in. They couldn’t find the online deposit I’d paid via their agent. The superior suite I paid extra for was very odd and dark and had no window! The restaurant could only serve cold food as their oven was not working!|I was informed in the restaurant that they had found my deposit. They had already taken my credit card details for the balance so I assumed all was sorted.|I was given a free glass of Rose wine because of the reduced menu then they tried to charge me for it which became a debate when I came to sign the check!|I finally went to the pool to relax and asked the receptionist who was walking by if the pool bar was serving drinks she told me yes and she’d arrange this. When a waiter appeared he informed me that until I went and paid my bill they wouldn’t serve me any drinks as they’d not received my deposit.|I went immediately to the reception and saw the owner who sat in a chair and seemed to be bullying the poor receptionist but doing nothing himself. The attitude was completely unprofessional, hostile and absolutely no apologies for their mistakes.|At this point I decided to leave. Fortunately I’d not paid in advance and the online payment link was it turned out not working so I paid for the snack I’d had for lunch and left.|If you want a relaxing break in an establishment that shows you professionalism and respect then I DON’T recommend this place.

The setting, the pool and the room were fine, although over-priced versus comparable hotels we stayed at in Mallorca. The restaurant was the main disappointment. The service was slow, the food was barely edible and there was no choice for wine by the glass which was incredibly disappointing given the wines on offer by the bottle. We understand that there was an issue with the chef whilst we were there, but we were still made to pay full price. We found a hair in our food, the veal steak was served rare when medium-rare was requested, the salads were undressed and appeared to be straight from a bag. This hotel is trying to be a 4 to 5 star hotel and charging prices comparable to this, however, it was 3-star maximum in our experience. The service was fine and staff friendly but it was well below what we were expecting for the price charged. We were so disappointed.

We had a seven night stay at this lovely hotel. It is very comfortable and in a lovely location looking out towards the coasts over the nearby towns. There is a large pool with ample loungers and an excellent restaurant. The staff are very friendly and helpful. My only slightly complaint is that the spa services offered seem to need to be booked some time in advance (a few days). They are not on tap as it were although the web site slightly gives this impression. However, this does not detract from a great stay.

A truly beautiful spot with great ,friendly service. We got a great deal and a fabulous room with terrace, complete with great views. The room was spotless. The only improvement would be coffee making facilities in the room.|We had a really nice 24 hours but it could have been superb with a few changes.|We had massages and the therapist had great Strong hands, but , and it's a small detail, there was no music in the spa room and no oils burning.Alll I could hear was her breathing and her feet I heavy trainers on the wooden floor. Music and some nice aromas would have made it perfect.|We ordered the very good value degustation dinner. The menu was great but there was no wow factor or outstanding dish. The waiter was friendly and efficient.|I would definitely return for another weekend away but it lacked the wow factor needed for an anniversary celebration, to be fair in times of COVID I wonder if anywhere would.

We returned to Cases this summer for a week having been here for a week last year. ||The resort is simply the most beautiful and tranquil place and from the moment we arrive we are in full zen mode.||The rooms are fantastic and the grounds beautiful if you like peace and serenity.||The restaurant is fantastic not just amazing food but fantastic value with a set menu that is amazing and full of delicious food.||All the above being said the one thing that really sets this hotel is the staff. The staff in the restaurant are amazing, thy remembered us year on year which in itself shows how invested they are in there clients. Genuinely this is our favourite hotel||On the island and one of our favourite destinations in the world to just rest and recover. ||We will no doubt we will be back next year….get the lemoncello ready!
