Catalonia Donosti (San Sebastian, Basque Country) 6 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"A convent dating back to the 17th and 18th centuries serves as the raw material for San Sebastián’s Catalonia Donosti, but this is no historical revival — this city-center boutique hotel is a thoroughly contemporary production, however atmospheric its architecture may be. Contrasting with the imposing façade is an unmistakably modern entrance, and the interiors, oddly enough, are marked by a distinct British accent; there’s a warmth and a cheeky clubbiness to the décor that wouldn’t be out of place in an English or Scottish country house or luxury hotel." - Tablet Hotels

We stayed here four nights while visiting San Sebastián and absolutely loved it. We had a terrace room with sea view. Although some other reviews say you can’t really see the water, that was not the case for us. The view was spectacular. The hotel has its own elevator into the town so you don’t have to deal with stairs up and down every time you go out. It is very central and we were able to get everywhere we wanted to go within a 20 min walk from the hotel. Breakfast is simple but lovely and was a great way to start the day. Staff were also very kind and helpful. Upon checking we were given lists of the best restaurants and pintxos places to check out during our trip. Our room came with use of the spa which we enjoyed as well - there is a small resting pool, cold plunge, steam room and dry sauna. The gym is small but has the basic equipment you would need for a simple full body workout (cable machine, free weights, bench, mats, bike, treadmill and elliptical). San Sebastián quickly became one of our favourite places we’ve visited and this hotel played a big part in that. Thank you Catalonia team for making our stay so lovely!

We had a wonderful 3 nights at the hotel Catalonia in San Sebastián, in the Basque region of Northern Spain. The reception staff during booking in were very helpful and gave us helpful information regarding parking our car in the car park which was €25 euros per day. Our room was very comfortable with a large king size bed on the 4th floor. With spectacular views from the terrace bar on the 5th floor. We didn’t actually eat in the restaurant during our stay however the buffet breakfast’s were absolutely wonderful with everything you could imagine to enjoy including a fresh orange juice machine, cooked eggs, omelettes by the chef and even a glass of bubbly if you so desired. Highly recommended.

I loved staying at the Hotel Catalonia Donosti. My room had a small terrace and a spectacular shower with city views, incredible water pressure, and tons of space. I loved it. The breakfast was well priced, varied, and of high quality and the spa, parking and location were all fantastic. Staff were friendly and helpful and I made use of the laundry service which was relatively well priced, very quick (same day) and very clean.

My wife/I chose this hotel because we were looking for a good quality hotel, within easy walking distance of the town, and with parking. The Catalonia hotel fitted the bill. We paid extra for a sea view room, mainly to avoid noise from the traffic on the busy road on the other side. This worked, we avoided the traffic noise. But you would need good eyesight to see the sea in the distance. If you chose a sea-view room for the view you would be disappointed. The room was perfectly clean, with no problems of any sort. We found the staff friendly and helpful. The elevator + passage leading directly to the street was very useful. I only had one minor disappointment - the bar was completely lacking in atmosphere, it was brightly lit, with upright chairs around small dining tables. The rooftop bar looked much nicer, but was closed because of the rainy weather. So better to go out to one of the many bars outside. It was not cheap, but it met what we wanted at a fair price for an expensive city.

This hotel made our San Sebastián trip! We stayed here for 3 nights. The hotel staff were very friendly & attentive. The decor of the hotel is absolutely incredible, with every attention to detail. It’s about 10 minute walk from the bus station & 10-15 minutes to all the pintxos bars! It comes well equipped with a decent gym, unfortunately we didn’t have time to experience the spa (from all the pintxos eating!). Breakfast was also a highlight, from freshly cooked omelette to basque cheesecake! The rooftop pool & bar had exceptional views 😍 We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting San Sebastián! 10/10 🌟

I really enjoyed this hotel. Staff were friendly and efficient. Room was very comfortable… and view from roof bar was fantastic. The lift taking you down the hill made it easy to access San Sebastián old town and beach front. Breakfast was good

Relaxing a break in this great hotel, with a perfect location and vantage point overlooking San Sebastian. ||The rooftop pool and bar have 360 degree views across the whole of the town. Great place to grab a drink and watch the sun go down or grab a sun lounger and soak u some sun, although the pool is not heated so can be a bit chilly even on a hot day.||The hotel has a private lift down to street level, which makes access to the town easier. The cathedral is a 2 minute walk, the beachfront is 5 minutes, and the old town 10 minutes. With a array of pedestrianise streets it's a shoppers paradise and there are numerous bars and restaurants on the doorstep. ||We opted for the Junior Suite with sea view and terrace on the 4th floor. The room was spacious and well appointed with a comfortable bed, robes, slippers and all creature comforts. The terrace provided an excellent view but with the position, was never in full sunlight. Immediately above was the rooftop terrace/bar/pool so some noise, notably when the sum loungers were being dragged around at the end of the day.||The buffet breakfast was very good. Served in the hotel restaurant, there was ample choice. Breads, hot food, cereals, egg station. More than enough ||The gym was small and sparse but useful. The spa was more impressive, with cold plunge pool, sauna, jacuzzi and steam room. Booking required to access these facilities.||The staff were excellent and made us feel very welcome and were helpful when booking taxis. ||Overall, a very relaxing stay in a well appointed hotel in the heart of San Sebastian.

This hotel has an excellent location with fabulous views, make sure you book a sea view room as they have good views. Rooms on the other side have a terrible view looking straight onto another building.|The room itself was spacious enough with en-suite shower, no bathtub despite a large en-suite.|The room was clean when we arrived but the cleaning during our stay was poor.|Breakfast was extra and 25 Euro/person. As we don't eat much at breakfast we tried a couple of the cafe/bakeries just down the road which were very good with breakfast for 2 under 15 euro.|The roof top poor was good but quite small and no where near enough sun loungers. During our stay some guest were lying on the floor tiles.|Overall i would recommend this hotel.
