Hotel Catalonia Plaza Mayor Salamanca

Pluses :||Location||Large, very comfortable bed.||Friendly Staff.||Excellent Breakfast Buffet||Probably the most powerful Shower we have ever had outside of America.||Minuses||The Shower bracket is so weak that if you use more than 50% power then after a few seconds the whole assembly flies off the wall soaking the ceiling, walls, all the dry towels and the floor as far as the door!||The Room looks out on to a well in the middle of the building. The view is so bad that the windows are opaque. Really only suitable as a Store Room.||But nearby is a wonderful, bespoke Coffee Shop, Qui Lom Bo (see separate Review)||Hayling Seagoon

Hotel locations is couple of steps from the Plaza Major. Front staff is very friendly. Hotel cleanliness and room size is commendable. Our room attendant Daniela was attentive and assisted us w/ our requests. We will return again!

Our stay was thoroughly enjoyable, marked by the exceptional helpfulness and professionalism of the staff throughout our visit. While the rooms were comfortable and well-maintained, a few minor renovations would further elevate the overall experience, ensuring an even greater level of comfort and satisfaction. The reception staff were particularly outstanding during our stopover. They went above and beyond, taking the time to listen to our needs and offering thoughtful, personalized solutions to ensure our stay was as pleasant as possible. Their genuine care and commitment to delivering a high-quality customer experience truly stood out. Overall, this hotel offers an excellent balance of service, comfort, and location. I would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone planning a visit to Salamanca and look forward to returning in the future.

The hotel's location is excellent, within easy walking distance of everything in Salamanca's historic centre. At the same time it is very quiet with good soundproofing. We booked a superior room which was spacious with a comfortable sofa as well as a very wide and comfortable bed. The pillows were super comfortable too. There was an electric kettle as well as a coffee machine, and a small fridge., bathrobes and slippers and even a little box of 2 Lindt chocolates. The bathroom had a large walk in shower with dual rain head and hand held shower heads. Everything was very clean and we heard no noise from housekeeping staff servicing nearby rooms in the mornings. We very much appreciated being able to check in to our room immediately when we arrived at 12.30 pm, having expected to need to drop off our luggage and return to check in later. Check out time was not until 12.00 pm which avoided the need to rush and we were able to leave our luggage stored for another few hours. The price/quality ratio offered by this hotel is extremely good.||There were very few negative points and only minor ones. The water pressure in the shower could have been more powerful and the washbasin counter had a strange angled surface at one side which made access to the wc slightly awkward. The volume limiter on the TV remote control was set so low that I could not hear it at all even when standing right next to the TV. I appreciate the need to avoid excessive noise for neighbouring rooms but I think the volume could be raised slightly without inconveniencing other guests.

Full marks for this hotel. Excellent location 2 minutes walk from the Plaza Mayor. Friendly, helpful staff, well-appointed rooms with comfy beds, great buffet breakfast with a good variety of fruit, cereals, hot dishes etc. Visited with a group and everyone was happy. Can recommend without reservation.

Each morning Sara's lovely smile greeted me, starting my day off beautifully. Her service is pleasant. She is a great asset. Give her a raise! RJ🙂

We were told the room might be small as it was in the city centre but we were pleasantly surprised that it was of a good size. Clean too. We had breakfast which was a reasonable good spread and service was excellent
