Hotel Catalonia Santo Domingo

Just had a great breakfast here in the dining hall. The food was warm/hot, and of great quality for it to be a buffet. The staff were incredible - attentive, positive, responsive and overall contributed to making it a great experience. Our waiter Ezekiel was professional at a level not often seen. We aren't on the Malecon often and needed a spot to sit, and eat while we waited for a few hours and Hotel Catalonia fit the bill perfectly. They also have a great view!

Thank you Emma for providing an absolutely amazing service. She was professional, attentive, and genuinely kind throughout the entire experience. She went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect and made us feel truly valued. She’s a real asset to the team!

I would like to give a very special compliment to Katerine. The breakfast buffet today was truly excellent – very diverse, fresh, and prepared with great care. What really made my stay special, however, was the outstanding service provided by Katerine. She took exceptional care of me with great kindness, attentiveness, and warmth. Even though she was certainly very busy, she still took the time to be present and made me feel genuinely welcome. Such dedicated service is not something to be taken for granted and truly deserves recognition. Thank you so much, dear Katharine, for your effort and your positive attitude – it will definitely be remembered!

My experience so far has been very good. Erika has great service at the ‘morning brunch which is delicious by the way. Front desk, room service , restaurant , pool, you name it ;has been seamless, pleasant, and accommodating. I’m glad I chose this hotel.

We had a wonderful stay and were deeply impressed by the warmth and professionalism of the staff. I am traveling with my elderly mother, and from the moment we arrived everyone made us feel welcome. The location is beautiful, right by the ocean, with stunning views and a peaceful atmosphere. A special thank you to the wonderful team at Filigrana Restaurant. Anyer, Daniela, and Cándida were all incredibly kind and professional. The food was excellent, and the warmth of the restaurant team made the dining experience truly memorable. We also had lovely experiences at the restaurant in the hotel lobby and poolside. Jennifer, Ruth, and Leídy’s attentiveness and humor made each meal a joy. At the Premium Lounge, Emmy and Mayara were amazing—they treated my mom like their own every time we stopped by. A heartfelt thank you to the housekeeping team — Cándida, Ana, and Zoraima — who kept our room spotless and comfortable each day. Their attention to detail and care made a real difference during our stay. We’re also grateful to Alberto, Piterson, and Fernando, who made sure we were comfortably settled when we arrived and checked in on my mom each day. They made her feel safe and looked after. Catalonia has a great front desk team, especially Francis, who quickly helped us change rooms after a sudden leak. His responsiveness and professionalism were greatly appreciated. The hotel itself feels safe, elegant, and very well run. During our stay we saw political figures and dignitaries visiting, which speaks to the reputation and level of trust this hotel clearly has. Most of all, what stood out was the kindness and warmth of the staff. Traveling with an elderly parent during a trying time for our family can be challenging, but here we felt supported and cared for. My mother was happy, and in the end that’s what mattered most to me. Absolutely loved my stay at Catalonia Hotel. My grandparents from Brazil were visiting the country and we needed a good hotel with fantastic customer service. The team at Catalonia Hotel, and people such as Katerine working in the buffet area, made our stay incredibly pleasant and very memorable. Extremely kind, helpful and willing to go above and beyond to make our experience exceptional. I would personally highly recommend anybody looking for a relaxing and safe hotel to come and check Catalonia for themselves. Rooms might need a slight upgrade but there is amazing views of the ocean, hot water, 24hr gym access, beautiful pool with a bar. And most importantly the food was delicious.

I did not have a 5-star experience and would not stay here again. With that said, there were definitely positives. The rooms were spacious and clean, the food was good (but limited), and the service at breakfast was consistently good. Unfortunately, service almost every-time but breakfast was disappointing. The poor service began at reception. We checked in late, around 1 am, and were given no instructions about the hotel, amenities, or how anything worked. A credit card was also never collected at check-in, which became an issue throughout our stay. I repeatedly tried to charge items to the room, only to be told there was no card on file. At no point did a staff member offer a clear solution, such as directing me to reception to add a card or offering to assist directly. Because of this, I had to pay separately each time at the pool. My 50-minute massage was also cut short to about 35 minutes because it took some time to sort payment and the masseuse was already running late. (This was especially disappointing) Service issues continued at the restaurants, but most noticeably at the pool lounge. The staff at the Pearl Lodge were not friendly and were very slow and forgetful. At first, I wondered if it was due to my Spanish not being strong, but even local guests appeared to be experiencing the same level of service. The elevators are also extremely slow and I spent a lot of time waiting. To end on a positive note, the cleaning staff were amazing. Felianca, the breakfast hostess, was wonderful, and Erika & Julia provided excellent breakfast service. They were the highlight of the stay. 2/17 Update: just came to the pool again and was pleasantly surprised to see Julia is here. She consistently provides great service and TODAY service at pearl lounge is great.

5 Star that feels like 3. Evade “premium” rooms at 19 floor. It’s a hot box as the sun heats it up very strong and air conditioning cannot help during the day. There is no balcony and you cannot open the window, so there is no use of “great sea view”. I even hadn’t no kettle in my room . However room it self is good and clean , breakfast also good. The main nightmare are elevators , it’s always full and you can spend up to 5-6 min only waiting for it to come to your floor
