Really good option to stay in Alghero. Stunning view from room on 7th floor and Breakfast on 9th. Room refreshed and friendly staff. On small minus “oily” scrambled eggs basically not possible to eat. Otherwise breakfast was fine.

Very pleasant two night stay with tour group in this hotel . Totally different from the other hotels we stayed in on our tour of Sardinia . Furnishing is very minimalist and the pastel colours add to the feeling of freshness . The beds were comfortable , the bathroom had everything we needed , especially the shower . Breakfast was all right but didn’t offer the amount of variety we encountered elsewhere , but we did love the view from the Sky Bar . The hotel not only has a good view of the old city but it is not far from it on foot .

Disappointing Stay – Unbearably Hot Rooms and Poor Response from Staff We were really looking forward to our stay at Hotel Catalunya, but unfortunately, it turned out to be a frustrating and exhausting experience. Our room on the 8th floor was consistently too hot at night – between 24°C and 26.3°C – making it very difficult to sleep. When we opened the windows to try to cool down, mosquitoes came in, and we ended up with barely two hours of rest on the first night. We raised the issue with staff four times, hoping for a solution. Every time we were told the heating is centrally controlled, and even after explicitly requesting to move to another room, we were met with a copy-paste style email that repeated the same information without offering any alternatives. To make things worse, mornings were disturbed by the loud dragging of chairs and tables from the restaurant just above us on the 9th floor. We weren’t alone in our experience – four friends staying in two other rooms also found their rooms (at 25°C) too warm to sleep comfortably. When we raised this, we were told some guests might want the heat – which felt dismissive of our own comfort and needs. The hotel website claims all rooms have air conditioning, but nowhere does it mention that it is controlled centrally and cannot be adjusted per room or per guest preference. This is misleading, especially given that the temperatures we experienced are well above the 18–22°C range recommended by health authorities for restful sleep. Sadly, what should have been a restful break turned into an uncomfortable stay. I would not return unless the hotel clearly updates its air conditioning policy and takes guest comfort more seriously. We’ve found the people in alghero wonderfully friendly and the service elsewhere amazing - however in this hotel we’ve regularly felt like an inconvenience, including at breakfast time when we were abruptly asked to leave as the service ended - the breakfast itself is also pretty disappointing and we’ve gone elsewhere for breakfast due to this. Come to alghero but don’t stay here

The hotel is ideally located, right in the heart of the town, beside the old town city walls and Marina. It boasts a roof top bar with amazing views over the city and Marina, serving breakfast each morning and drinks at night, with very generous measures 😉 The staff are polite and friendly, the breakfast has limited fruits, cold meats, cereals, cheeses, breads and pastries. The rooms are clean and bright, however basic, the bathroom has everything you need, but a bit small, and air conditioning seems limited also, however the room temperature in May was comfortable. There is a kettle, but our tea/coffee hasn’t been replenished, so perhaps bring some with you, also only provided with one bottle of water for our 3 night stay. There is a safe and small fridge in the room. The hairdryer is useless, so for the ladies, definitely bring your own. There’s a supermarket within a two minute walk from the hotel, for water and essentials.

I rarely left negative feedback but the hotel service was one of the most terrible experience I have ever had for a star hotel. It is the opposite of hospitality. Upon check-in, the reception has shown us an attitude. We booked a suite on the top floor. As soon as we arrived, the bathroom had a terrible mouldy smell. We asked for changing the room and the staff unwillingly showed us to a different, smaller room without any apology. The breakfast was average with limited options. As soon as it got to 10am, staff came over to rush us to finish and leave. The restaurant is located one floor above our room. In early morning at 6/7ish, we were woken by the noise of moving chairs and tables. We couldnt fall back to sleep again. It happened every day when we stayed there. You'd expect to pay for more expensive rooms to get better service and sleeping quality, this is definitely the opposite. It looks like most people who stayed there were on business events. I DO NOT recommend leisure travellers to stay in this hotel at all.

Perfectly positioned for a break exploring the old town. Comfortable large 4 star hotel within a few minutes walk to the main sites, restaurants and harbour. The Junior Suite with balcony (Bay View) on the 8th floor had an awesome view of the park, old town and harbour. Probably one of the best views in Alghero. The large room was comfy, with a well-stocked bathroom and good aircon. Luckily the shower had 2 heads as the main one was broken, but the smaller rose worked ok. Breakfast was on the 9th floor with amazing views across the town and harbour. Excellent buffet selection of hot & cold food and warm pastries. Fresh coffee made to order at the table. All friendly staff. Hotel in good condition other than a few areas that needed some maintenance (peeling paint above our balcony) but all in all a great stay. We had to cut short our stay by 1 night and the hotel receptionist was very accommodating
