AVOID AT ALL COSTS – A HEALTH HAZARD, NOT A HOTEL This establishment is an absolute disgrace and should not be operating in its current state. It is shockingly overpriced for what it offers – or more accurately, fails to offer. The entire building is run-down, mould-infested, and clearly neglected. Our room was nothing short of appalling: • Peeling wallpaper and black mould on the walls • Filthy, dust-covered heaters • No air conditioning, making the stay unbearable • No safety lock box for valuables • An exposed bathroom light fitting – a serious electrical hazard • No fridge, not even a bottle of complimentary water The conditions weren’t just uncomfortable — they were potentially dangerous to your health. It’s hard to imagine how a place like this passes any kind of inspection. But the worst was yet to come: breakfast. In over 20 years of international travel, I have never encountered anything so poorly presented, unappetizing, and downright inedible. It was a complete insult to guests. This place should be shut down immediately and rebuilt from the ground up. It’s not only a disgrace to hospitality — it’s a public health concern. Never again. STAY FAR AWAY.

Breakfast was unacceptable: The fruit served was visibly rotten. When I politely raised this with a staff member, she responded dismissively with “so just don’t eat it.” The eggs were green and clearly spoiled, raising serious concerns about hygiene and food safety. There was also no drinking water anywhere in the hotel. Customer service was hostile: The staff were consistently rude and unhelpful. On the day of checkout, a hotel worker came banging on the door at 10:55 AM, yelling “You have 5 minutes, get out. I don’t care.” They were inflexible with even a minute’s leeway before check-in or after checkout. Poor room conditions: The room had an odd smell and no air conditioning, no basic toiletries—no shampoo, body wash, or even hand soap. To make things worse, the room was infested with red ants. My travel companions and I suffered multiple bites and skin irritation. Unprofessional environment: Staff behaved casually and unprofessionally, even allowing their dog to roam freely in the lobby area. This was by far the worst hotel experiences I’ve had. I do not recommend staying here to anyone—especially if you value cleanliness, hospitality, or basic comfort. Find another hotel, do not stay here or waste your money here.

Had very obviously not been cleaned - there was blood on the door jam (pictured) and the toilet was in rough shape among a lot of other stains. Pretty clear they just do the bare minimum to turn rooms over quickly and charge tourists based on their location. Great location and the staff was friendly enough but the room was in rough shape, not worth it as a whole.

Old style hotel with traditional decor and rooms. Serves breakfast but no restaurant or bar. Rooms basic with few facilities, no tea or coffee making facilities. Hard towels and limited toiletries. Very convenient for station and walking to town centre

This hotel is in dire need of repair. Old hotel which can be charming but not this one. Couldn't wait to leave. Musty smell. Rooms were big. Big bathroom but stained toilet and tub. Could use a better clean. Breakfast was horrible. Hot food was mixed veggies, hot dogs and beans???

Google
( not worth the price you pay!) Would not recommend this hotel! No fridge, no air conditioning, no complimentary bottled water, disgusting breakfast ( the cutlery had chips on it). Mold on the walls that could cause health issues. The only positive is it had a view of the river and close to train station.

Far from mint condition, yes but clean enough. Good value for Switzerland. Spectacular view. Epic location. Breakfast included. It's more than sufficient. Negative point - polluted air from neighboring guest smoking on balcony. Yuck.

This hotel is nothing short of appalling. Aside from its convenient location and a decently clean bathroom, it fails in every respect. The room floor was left dirty, but the real disaster lies in the staff: uninformed, contradictory, careless, and utterly unprofessional. My confirmed SBB Door to Door service turned into a nightmare. Every staff member gave a different answer, none took responsibility, and I was forced to handle everything myself. Even the courier expressed shock at their indifference. The management has clearly abandoned all standards of training, accountability, and basic hospitality. For guests, this is not just disappointing—it is offensive. This was one of the worst hotel experiences of my life. No traveler should ever subject themselves to such incompetence. I will never return, and I strongly advise others to avoid this place entirely.

Yelp
This hotel is lovely! Karin at the front desk was knowledgeable, polite, kind and extremely helpful. My husband and I were here for our honeymoon and just fell in love with this place. The hotel is located directly next to the bus and train stations and provides you with a blue card which allows you to ride the buses for free. It has phenomenal views of the mountains and rivers and is far enough away from the touristy spots to get a good nights sleep. The beds are ridiculously comfortable and the water pressure and temperature are perfect. Our room has an automatic water heater so we can make tea and or coffee at our leisure. Complementary breakfast was a must when booking a hotel here, because food is quite expensive and lucky for us this place has it. It's just enough to get you up and going until lunch. Overall, I give this place 5 stars not only for the comfort, but also for the customer service! Thank you Karin! We will be back next year!

Yelp
Absolute dump. Don't really know where to start. Looks like they have not done any updates in 20 plus years and what has been done is in cheapest half ass way. So I included pictures.Torn and worn carpets/rugs,spot touch up paint on woodwork, 2 different lights installed in bath??, no bars of soap, a packet of I ?? 4in1 soap, shampoo, conditioner and body wash? Just pitiful. overall dirty, unkept, not kidding on this one motion detector lights in the hallways.WHO DOES THAT? The wi-fi installed in baskets on walls in hallways, beds left in hallways, and I think the tackiest thing I have ever seen STOLEN grocery carts from the coop store down the street being used as the linen carts. Breakfast buffet was very questionable. Did have some fresh melon but rest was processed very low quality and looked like same food put out day after day. Staff was not friendly nor helpful. Buyers beware we left as soon as we could after 2 days and found much nicer accommodations

Yelp
The hotel is old which is fine but shabby is another thing. Very sloppy and expensive for the quality. Breakfast was plentiful but lousy food. Inedible and crowded and the odor made it even more unappetizing. No ice in entire hotel. Beds in hall together with other building supplies and old non-working refrigerator. Floors all scratched and in need of refinishing. Staff unhelpful from minute we arrived. Caters to bus tours. Soda machine in lobby non-existent. Entire place in dire need of makeover and paint job. Even flag outside tattered. Would not recommend to friend.

Yelp
It's funny when spoiled people from the city's in the states complain about small town hotels. I see pictures of a probably a public bathroom and a exposed router. The router has given the best WiFi since it's not hidden behind anything and my suite is absolutely clean, they replace the perfectly white bedding everyday, not just remake the bed like some hotels. The staff was very helpful and didn't get frustrated when I was asking sometimes difficult questions in English since it is a secondary language to some of them. The location is right in the middle of everything overlooking the rivers on both sides and all the mountains. Yes it's a very old building so don't expect a Hilton or Marriott quality of comfort, it doesn't have a/c (but it's June and it stays in the 70s during the day and reaches the 50s by night so you don't need it). And if there's any complaint on no ice lol it's not standard to have ice in every drink for Europeans. If your want luxury pay hundreds of dollars somewhere else but if u want a nice place to sleep for a good price and do outdoor activities with a nice balcony to have a bottle of wine on while watching the sun rise or set then this is the place for you!
