Everything was fine for a short business stay. The staff is friendly, the room is small but clean, everything you need is provided, and the breakfast is good enough to start the day. Price-wise it is also a good deal.

Mixed feelings about my experience in the hotel. Good: - Room quality - Air Conditioning - Location Bad: - Very poor breakfast, better to eat somewhere else - They try to scam you with the turist tax. For example if you book a room for yourself but it is a 2 person room (big bed, quite typical in hotels) then they will try to count this tax for 2 people as this is the room size, not the actual number of customers. So a single person has to pay double the tax and so on. - Very rude receptionist. Had a situation mentioned above and it was impossible to explain it to the lady. She makes the rules and does not care, even when she is wrong, screams at you.

On the surface of it, Ceresio is ok. But having stayed there for five nights, it could have been a whole load better. If you were on the wrong side, it was extremely noisy from the road. Rooms were bare minimum - clean, but no mod cons at all, no kettle, no iron and only a single glass in the bathroom. No curtains - light was badly shut out by electric rollers on the outside of the windows. The duvet was shorter than the bed, so no good if you are taller than 5’5. Breakfast was ok, but nothing special. Service was poor, unfriendly even, although persistence paid off and we managed to get a smile out of the grumpy old man by the fourth night. Iron your clothes before you go - there is no iron, nor ironing room and the only was to get things ironed without paying is to go with the cleaner to the basement at 8am - a fairly tricky business to look smart for business meetings over five days. Allegedly bus passes are available from hotel, but nothing was offered. In fact, nothing was offered at all, we had to ask for anything and everything we needed beyond the basics of a bed and a shower. Definitely not staying there again, nor would I recommend it.

Rooms are clean and bed is ok. WiFi is fast and TV covering quite a lot of channels. Breakfast buffet is ok too. Maybe only downside there is the coffee. If you want a real cappuccino they charge extra. Included is only the filter coffee. All in all a decent hotel for a short stay. Location is very central. But it’s definitely not romantic nor a quite place.

Solid but basic hotel. Offers everything one needs but nothing extra. Friendly staff, good breakfast, a/c in room (did nit use it) and comfy beds with memory foam pillows.|Ask for the Ticino Ticket when checking in as its not given automatically. Street in front of hotel can be nosy in mornings

The rooms were too warm and very tired and uninviting. You could not open the window because of traffic noise. Bed uncomfortable. The elevator was a joke you could just about fit in two people with your suitecase as well. Location was the only thing that was OK. The breakfast was terrible, the worst one we had during our week of travelling around Switzerland. All that was edible was really the cereal and the choice was poor. Also the worst coffee we had anywhere. Would not stay there again and would not recommend it.

Spend only one night in Lugano and wanted something I can walk to from the train station and not too expensive. It took me 17min walk in the end, for a double bedroom at 140 CHF / Night.||Breakfast and Internet included, the room had air condition, a decent size shower and small place to work. The room was tidy and clean, really great. The staff super friendly and the breakfast was small but ok.||Tip|If you sleep by open window, ask for a room away from the main road, can be noisy

Booking.com had for a rating 3.8 for the Ceresio, and 702 CHF for a family suite (with an adjoining room for our toddler) for 3 nights seemed like a very good deal. ||But when we arrived the manager, Mr Stefano Monetti, tried to give us a single room with three beds in it. He was downright rude when we went down to complain and he insisted that that was the family suite. After much discussion, we eventually got two adjoining rooms on the 4th floor. There was no sofa, safe, foldable bed or terrace as we had booked. We went down to complain again. This time Mr Monetti was insulting and said that it was Booking.com’s fault and that we shouldn’t have caused such a fuss on a Friday night. ||We stayed only because we were on a budget (Lugano is expensive) and Booking.com would have charged us a 225 CHF cancellation fee. We also had our toddler to think of. ||I suppose we were lucky that we didn’t see him for the rest of our stay and that his staff were nevertheless friendly and accommodating.||I find it strange that the reception asked us to pay on our second night (perhaps Mr Monetti was worried that we’d do a runner?). ||Apart from the fact that the hotel is centrally located, there is actually nothing attractive or special about it. ||LESSONS LEARNED:||1. Don’t use Booking.com|2. Make sure to read the hotel’s reviews on TripAdvisor |3. If you’re traveling with a baby, get written confirmation from the hotel itself about your booking||||||||
