The 6 Best Hotels in Albuquerque

"When Hotel Chaco swung open its Avanyu-carved black-on-black doors (a serpent design that reflects water’s sanctity in the high desert and is often used in Pueblo pottery designs), it was the first new hotel built in the area in more than forty years. It's the centerpiece of the Sawmill District’s transformation from a fading industrial center to a now bustling lodging, dining, and entertainment quarter. The hotel’s 118 guest rooms exude modern Southwest design, with sleek lines and earthen hues and materials, such as petrified wood–carved sinks. Each room boasts a one-of-a-kind Navajo (Diné) rug from Toadlena Trading Post in northwest New Mexico, where artists carry on centuries old weaving traditions." - Ashley M. Biggers

Hotel Chaco

"Why book? Drawing design inspiration from ancestral Puebloan great houses and punctuated with contemporary Indigenous art, Hotel Chaco creates a tranquil ambiance grounded in local culture. Explore the deeply rooted cultures of the Southwest through this luxury hotel. Set the scene Hotel Chaco stands as a centerpiece of the Sawmill District’s transformation from a fading industrial center to a now bustling lodging, dining, and entertainment quarter. Buttoned up executives, sunglass-clad movie producers, and leather fringed jacket–wearing artists all pass through the hotel’s lobby. In the entrance, a grand sculpture, Oneness by Joe Cajero, of Jemez Pueblo; a blown-glass antler chandelier by Ira Lujan, of Taos/Ohkay Owingeh Pueblos, and other modern-day Native American art works immerse guests in the culturally rich atmosphere.  The backstory When Hotel Chaco swung open its Avanyu-carved black-on-black doors (a serpent design that reflects water’s sanctity in the high desert and is often used in Pueblo pottery designs), it was the first new hotel built in the area in more than forty years. The hotel is part of Heritage Hotels and Resorts’ 10-piece collection. Whether newly built or renovated, the brand’s boutique hotels radiate New Mexico’s heritage and lifestyle. Hotel Chaco’s design pays homage to Chaco Culture National Historical Park, a center of the ancient Southwest known for its stacked-stone architecture and located in today’s northwest New Mexico. The rooms The hotel’s 118 guest rooms exude modern Southwest design, with sleek lines and earthen hues and materials, such as petrified wood–carved sinks. Each room boasts a one-of-a-kind Navajo (Diné) rug from Toadlena Trading Post in northwest New Mexico, where artists carry on centuries old weaving traditions.  Food and drink A downstairs bar, Crafted Café, pours sips of locally produced wine and spirits. The rooftop restaurant offers hard-to-beat views of the towering Sandia Mountains and sinuous Río Grande. Level 5’s seasonal menu bends to its current chef’s tastes and what’s ripe in the hotel’s garden, but appetizers such as avocado hummus and cocktails like the watermelon-vodka Sandia Sunset are staples. Dinner reservations are a must. The spa Hotel Chaco is planning to unveil a spa in 2023. It will call upon the same cultural touchpoints that flow through the hotel.  The neighborhood/area A block away from Albuquerque’s founding neighborhood and a slate of fine museums, the evolving Sawmill District draws locals and delights visitors with the Sawmill Market. The food hall is chock-a-block with local purveyors and restaurants to satisfy every craving.  The service Befitting its AAA four-diamond status, the hotel’s service is attentive and accommodating. A fleet of e-bikes and cruisers await for rentals or tours offered through the hotel’s guiding partner, Heritage Inspirations, which also offers day-long and overnight excursions to Chaco Culture National Historical Park.   For families Several family-friendly attractions lie within walking distance, including Old Town, the ABQ BioPark’s Botanic Garden, Aquarium, and Tingley Beach; and Explora science center.   Accessibility Guests with disabilities will find the hotel’s common areas and public spaces easy to navigate. It offers (select) wheelchair accessible rooms, Braille/raised signage, and elevator access.  Anything left to mention? If visiting Chaco Culture National Historical Park with a hotel guide is on your itinerary, book in advance. Stop in the hotel’s own Gallery Hózhó for a well-curated selection of fine art from contemporary Indigenous artists.     \" - Ashley M. A Hidden Gem – Outstanding Experience from Start to Finish I recently stayed at this beautiful hotel and was thoroughly impressed. The location is ideal—just 10 minutes from the airport and within walking distance to the charming Old Town. It’s also directly across the street from a modern food court and shopping area, which made dining and quick errands incredibly convenient. This is truly one of the cleanest hotels I’ve ever experienced. The attention to detail in cleanliness and upkeep was impeccable. The staff went above and beyond—friendly, professional, and always eager to help, making the stay even more enjoyable. A unique and personal touch was the barber/salon shop owner who operates in a nearby space. Each time we passed through, he greeted us warmly and even engaged in friendly conversation. It added a sense of local charm and community that made our visit feel special. Overall, this hotel is an absolute gem. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area—you won’t be disappointed David and Paige Castillo

Positive: Friendly concierge and staff, comfortable bed / room, good shower. Pool, restaurant (and server staff at level 5) and other amenities were good. Negative: The fitness center is beautiful and large but only 1 of 6 treadmills were active and working, the others needed to be reset / adjusted by staff. There was a very loud party on the most important night of my stay which went until 3am. Could hear lots

This is a case of really liking the ambiance but with several caveats. The things I enjoyed seemed to always have a "but" to them. The front desk was great until one night, when, at bedtime, when I politely asked if someone could ask the kids on the pool playing "Marco Polo" at maximum volume, they got angry that I even asked. Other than that the front desk is great. The main restaurant has likely the best food in Albuquerque. And a fantastic view (The prices of the beef might shock you.) But unless you make a standing reservation, you're likely to not get a table in a predictable way. While on the subject of food, there is nowhere to eat breakfast, except in your room... However, there is only one person to answer the phones, put in the orders and then deliver the meals herself, meaning, don't count on getting breakfast when you need it. Suggest you go to the other nearby hotel for a great breakfast with helpful staff. Finally, the housekeeping is erratic. Over three weeks I could not see any kind of schedule for housekeeping. There is no reliable schedule. Also see the picture of my phone "after a cleaning". The pool is huge and is popular. But beware the games of "Marco Polo" going late into the night. And while we talk about noise, the "open design" furniture makes a lot of noise whenever you open or close a drawer or slide a door. And the sounds go right through the walls. Just a reality of minimal furniture design. The bathroom sink water controls are insanely difficult to get the temperature you want. Hard to describe but it's not ideal at all. But... the valets are fantastic and your car is always there when you need it.

Positive: The room was beautiful and comfortable. The fitness room was fabulous! Location with the Sawmill fun!! Negative: The pool was a zoo!! Probably because of the share with the other hotel. I did not expect that and stayed for 5 minutes.

We stayed in Room 302 for two nights and had an overall enjoyable experience. The staff was very welcoming, and the room was clean and comfortable. We initially thought valet parking was the only option, which stressed my husband out a bit—but we later realized there is self-parking nearby, which we used on the second night.||There was some road work nearby, and unfortunately, the jackhammering started at 7 a.m. on Saturday. That was frustrating, but we believe it’s a temporary issue and likely won’t be a problem in the future.||One of the highlights was the pool, which is shared with the hotel next door. It was open until 11 p.m., perfect for a relaxing swim at the end of the day.||The location is excellent—just a short walk to historic Old Town and directly across from the Sawmill Market, which we loved. Lots of great restaurants and bars in the area too.||Overall, we had a nice stay and would recommend this hotel, especially for its location and amenities.||

Hotel Chaco is an exquisite hotel experience. The second you enter the gorgeous and uniquely round lobby, you sense you are in for something different. This place is a peaceful and serene escape from the bustling city outside. Even the rooms are soothing and quiet. No slamming doors, flushing toilets, or TV and conversations bleeding through the walls. Just quietude. The bathroom showers are roomy with great rain shower heads. The outside is perfectly landscaped providing a spa-like oasis feel. The rooftop Level 5 restaurant/bar is a must! Food/drinks and service are terrific and the views are unparalleled. Chaco is the absolute best accommodations in Albuquerque. Skip the chains and treat yourself. Splurge for a King Deluxe - you won't regret it!

Google
Hotel Chaco may be one of the coolest hotels I’ve ever stayed at. It has incredible architecture and it was built based on NA building practices. All of the staff are insanely friendly and helpful, the whole building is very clean. Free granola and water in the rooms, only downside/unexpected thing is all breakfast is paid(but I just ate the granola or went across the street to Sawmill Market and had a good time with it), but valet is included, pool, hot tub, sauna, etc. I really enjoyed the little educational segment on our TVs about Hotel Chaco, kind of like a How It’s Made, but for your own hotel. There are many unique things about this hotel. Even many standard rooms will get a balcony, all of the lights along the hallways are dimmed with real geodes. Hotel Chaco is a must-see if you’re stopping in Albuquerque.

Google
Hotel is beautiful and in a great location right near Old Town and across the street from the Sawmill Market food hall. It’s a bit pricey for sure, and the reason I gave only four stars is that I booked at full price, got plenty of messages from the hotel before arrival, and yet didn’t know the pool and hot tub are not available due to maintenance since March 30 - not cool to find out that way, especially when there is a mandatory “amenities” fee of almost $40. To her credit, Aunica helped us remove that charge and adjust the room price as I wasn’t super thrilled. Also - note to all hotel room designers in the world - people like PRIVACY in the restroom - not a sliding door that leaves a 3” gap, and a glass wall with a completely transparent design so you can see someone as they take care of business. Total privacy please - a fully closable door and no viewing window panels!

Yelp
Lovely hotel, adjacent to the ever popular - Saw Mill. Upon entering the room; I knew we erred by not booking a balcony room. The window in our room was small, dirty and overlooked a parking lot, hotel and the dumpsters below - dismal = The room did not receive much light. We requested to upgrade twice but they were unable to accommodate us. We spent four days at Hotel Chaco. We were here to attend the Day of the Tread. We were surprised that there were no breakfast offerings (as early as we required) at the hotel before the events. We had to walk down the road to purchase food. *Consistent (early morning) coffee service in the lobby would have been appreciated as well. The room was nicely appointed, the amenities acceptable. We loved the comfortable robes and appreciated the slippers. The fitness center was one of the best we've used - it had everything you'd need, from yoga mats to Peloton machines. Housekeeping was exceptional! Victor and Edward were helpful and offered a wealth of information - thank you. We will be back next year, and hope to book a balcony overlooking the pool.

Yelp
I had a wonderful first experience at hotel Chaco! A few highlights include: - Amazing experience checking in with Matt and complimentary upgrade - Matcha from complimentary coffee bar downstairs each morning (drinks made to order) - Kitchen staff who kindly made me an off menu smoothie when I wasn't feeling well during my stay - Beautiful aesthetic Will absolutely be back!

Yelp
I cannot recommend this hotel enough. What a gorgeous space with the warmest welcome, the cleanest room, just the perfect vibe for an overnight in Albuquerque's downtown. I won't hesitate to book here again with the service we received and the it's dog-friendly too. The Sawmill Market is just across the street for any extra snacks you might need, and the hotel eateries are wonderful. There are beautiful shops here, and the decor inside and out is absolutely spectacular. Loved this stay!!

Yelp
Terrible. Dirty. Over priced and in a dangerous neighborhood. Good luck if you stay there. Make sure your car doesn't have any thing in it. If something happens you are responsible.

Yelp
Like WOW! Hotel Chaco is like walking into a museum. We Uber here so not sure about the parking situation. We stayed here a night as it was walking distance to Old Town Albuquerque and several cool wine bars in the area. The rooms are nice and everything feels modern and clean but this is the place to stay if you want something away from the main city, it's quite, modern and artistic. Walking into the hotel I was greeted by the statue remembering me of the scene from "Better Call Saul". The lobby has a gift shop, small museum a lobby bar and a quiet area with a nice working fireplace to sit, relax and reflect. Outside of the lobby there is a waterfall and chairs to sit, chat and reflect while enjoying the calming sound of water. We found plenty of places to eat nearby, used maps on our iPhone and suggestions from people working at the hotel.

Yelp
Very nice place to stay ...we had a little issue in our original room and they corrected very quickly and upgraded us to a suite thank you very much...we will be back!

Carmen L.

Yelp
We stayed for three nights. The hotel was very clean. I loved the architecture. The staff was helpful. There isn't a microwave in the room however if you ask the front desk they will bring one up. We also got a free bottle of wine.

Yelp
The Level 5 restaurant was out of this world. It wasn't just a meal it was an entire experience. Agustin our waiter was amazing

Yelp
I had a lovely stay at this beautiful hotel for a work trip. All of the staff was very friendly from the door to the front desk. Easy check-in/check-out process. The lobby decor is very nice and the rooms are really nice and comfortable. The gym amenities had everything I needed for my workout (free weights, treadmills, machines, exercise balls, yoga mats, plyo steps and even a Peloton!) The hotel is conveniently located across the street from a food court with tons of food & drink options (Sawmill Market). Wish my trip was a little longer so I could enjoy the hotel a little more (like the rooftop bar!).

Yelp
Stayed at Hotel Chaco a few weekends ago while visiting the 'ol 505! Though I can appreciate a consistent hotel and the points that come along with it, I love and appreciate a local boutique hotel, which lent me to Hotel Chaco. Conveniently located across the street from a food hall, Sawmill Market, it's a pretty soli location near ABQ proper. We checked in around 7:30 or so on a Friday evening, we walked in and we're greeted at front door and walked into the cozy hotel. It felt warm, very southwest in all the right ways and was a very cool space. Check in was a breeze and the front desk was very friendly. Thought we found our room relatively easy, because the shape of the building and grand lobby, it's almost as if the floors are built with round abouts and veer right or left depending on your room. Lacked a bit a signage, but nothing huge once you get oriented! Side note, all floors required key cards to access, so very safe. We explored a bit of the hotel, an art museum on the bottom floor, few shops as well, a rooftop bar and restaurant, as well as a bar in the first floor. The pool and hot tub were located outside and they had a reasonably sized work out room. Overall, accommodations were nice. Our room was lovely, we had a balcony, thought it wasn't the most beautiful, all the natural light and windows were great. We called down for a steamer, which they had and was helpful for our weekend festivities! Bed was comfy, enjoyed the robes in the room We had the chance to enjoy drinks at the downstairs bar and rooftop. We're not super impressed with upstairs, but enjoyed the lobby bar. It was just a one off, I heard good things about booth. It was an enjoyable experience overall and we loved being able to walk across the street to the food hall then go back and relax in our comfy bed! Would definitely return again.

Yelp
WOW! What a beautiful, comfortable and stylish hotel in Albuquerque! We so enjoyed our stay, and loved this beautiful hotel. The amenities were fantastic and the location was perfect - we walked over to the Sawnmill and also into Old Town. The beds were like clouds, the robes were heavenly and the products were spa-worthy. We would stay here again!

Yelp
Let me start by saying I've had an amazing experience one night, sadly followed by a lackluster experience the following night. Overall the hotel needs time get more aggressive with their hiring. So it's hard to go one way or the other. The food is amazing, so let's start there! The tequila selection is top notch, with a few exceptions, that some of the bartenders don't seem to know their liquors very well (maybe they're new so I'll cut them some slack). Besides that all of the staff are pretty awesome from the hostess, to the manager and I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a great view and trendy place to enjoy some libations and good eats!

Yelp
This hotel is amazing! The level of detail that was made to everything from the lighting to the room number plates shows throughout. It is truly one of the most beautiful hotels I have stayed (and, I have stayed in a lot). If you are looking for a special place to spend a vacation in Albuquerque, this is it. Speaking of details, once you give permission, hotel staff text you to check on arrival and offer assistance. I cannot say enough about this place and I'm looking forward to our next trip to Albuquerque so we can stay here again.

Yelp
This hotel is amazing! Location is perfect in a safe area and as soon as you walk In you're greeted by the amazing staff. The General Manager Matt goes above and Beyond to make you feel welcome and told me about local places to eat and the amazing Sawmill across the street! I was here for work but used the Gym every night! The Gym and pool area was clean and the equipment was top notch! I can't wait to come back for a non work vacation to take advantage of the roof top bar and beautiful large pool.

Yelp
Location is good, you can walk to Sawmill Market and Old Town. The rooms are nice, spacious bathrooms, comfortable beds, safe in the room, nice sized television with a reasonable variety of channels. The lobby sitting areas are well appointed and comfortable. The not-so-great things was no breakfast other than room service. We at dinner at the bar onf the fifth floor twice. The menu was OK, but nothing spectacular. We had the pork belly, elk, fried rice and another dish I don't recall. Valet parking is complimentary, but often no attendant is present when you pull in and must seek them out. Would I stay again? Likely, but not dying to to back either.

Sandra P.

Yelp
When we arrived we tried finding the parking for the hotel. The parking is across the street or along side of the road . There is an eating establishment across the street called Sawmill Market . So All parking was taken. We drive up to the door of the hotel and the Valet was there because it being a weekend. He said Valet is Free . Okay but every time you want to come and go you have to call Valet. The next couple days Valet guy was inside talking to the Hotel front desk clerk or They were no where in sight so the clerk came out. Secondly, called room service for more towels and an hour and half later had to make another call. Thirdly, There are 3 bars at the hotel not One had a bar . We wanted to watch the college game and the NFL games and was told we'd have to go to a sports bar! That's not good if you want to have a few drinks then drive ?? Made no sense at all. There are NO Vending machines anywhere to get drinks or snacks nor a coffee shop . Fourth, When they remodeled the hotel the sink in the bathroom is a Round tall bowl. So if you're between 5 feet tall and 5'5 it makes it very difficult to wash up. See photo . Your arms are Always up high, the faucet is close to the bowl. Looks nice but not effective. Fifth, The cabinet to the refrigerator was off of one hing and had to tug it open. Sixth, we left early morning and I asked for my receipt, he couldn't give me one. Look around at other places before deciding on this hotel. We will never stay there again.

Yelp
This review is about the restaurant on the fifth floor. I am a local, and did not stay in the hotel itself. Sunday breakfast is a favorite for me. The view from the restaurant is outstanding. The decor is modern and there are impressive pieces of slab style furniture. The breakfast menu offer a wide range of choice. I had crepes with ricotta filling and mixed berries. Very tasty, crepes were tender and berries fresh. The orange juice is excellent. On Sunday mornings, there is also the added treat of live music by Dan Dowling, an accomplished guitarist who plays tasteful arrangements of jazz standards, Beatles songs and more.

Yelp
Beautiful venue!! I love the rooftop bar!! I hope to return soon. Thank you for exceptional customer service!!

Yelp
Love this hotel. The restaurant has great food and the hosts were very accommodating. Who could resist sitting out on the balcony? I do miss the beautiful displays of certain drinks when the hotel originally opened, but the taste was still the same. Everyone should come for the sunset views of the Sandias at Level 5 restaurant.
google avatar

Yelp
It was not a great experience and Manager will still not return my request for a call so that should tell you something! Room wasn't ready when we arrived and wasn't ready until at least 4:30. Check in is 4. Once we got to the room it smelled horribly of bleach we requested a deodorizer to be sent to the room never arrived we went down to the desk and they gave us a clear spray had no smell- we had to leave the patio door open and it was freezing outside. The tv channel didn't work so they had to send someone up to reset the TV and the worst part was we had NO HOT WATER for our shower! I would appreciate the manager to give me a call so we could discuss this!

Yelp
This review is specificially for the rooftop bar: We are a group of people who love to support local businesses but we receive more love from some businesses than others. As a group of more than 6 diners here, we have found that we were not really welcome and that was especially evident when it came for us to pay our bills. Most businesses accept that a group of diners may want to individually pay for their food and drinks. Not here. The server refused to give separate checks. She provided only 4 bills for a large group. Since many people don't carry cash it was clumsy, awkward, and ultimately unfair to some diners who had less to eat and drink than others. One woman who has only a glass of wine ended paying over $20 because the other parties on her check decided to split it equally. How fair is that? This business has to rethink how it accommodates groups of diners. I could ramble off a whole slew of businesses that do just that in Albuquerque. We won't be returning

Yelp
I love staying at Hotel Chaco a true hidden gem in the Albuquerque area and when I say hidden gem I truly mean hidden in an area not surrounded by super nice things. The inside of this hotel is so updated and nice. The rooms are great and nicely appointed. The staff here is also very nice and have always had great service.

Yelp
Hotel Chaco was exactly the rest we needed. My sister and 2 very large dogs are road-tripping from the east coast to Los Angeles to get treatment for one of my dogs, who was diagnosed with cancer and a fungal infection (not contagious to humans). We don't feel right sending them on a flight in the cargo section. So here we are, 2 girls driving a van across middle America with 2 dogs in tow, one sick, and the other one who can't sit down for a second. We saw that Hotel Chaco was pet-friendly and so we made reservations and then pulled right up. We were greeted by Jonas in the valet section. He was professional, upbeat, and quick to anticipate our needs. He helped us get our bags and belongings up to our room. The room was beautiful, clean, and spacious. We had a balcony that overlooked their vegetable garden and we could see the beautiful pool area on the right. The whole vibe of the hotel was peaceful and very zen. They didn't have a spa but they did have a gym. Since we were only there for 1 night, we weren't looking for a lot of amenities. We felt like there wasn't much offered in food from the hotel. However, across the street, is a food court type of place called Sawmill Market where we got our food and morning coffee. *There is a juicebar also if you are a 'start your day with green juice' kinda person. Though the property is small, it's very beautiful and very quiet. The lobby is designed well and I wish I had more time to sit around and lounge by the fireplace to really take it all in. When we left, Jonas read our mind and offered us some water bottles for the road. We were really touched with this small gesture and appreciated him looking out and anticipating our needs. We plan to be back again if we decide to travel back to New Mexico.

Yelp
This was one of the best hotels we have ever experienced. Stunningly art, extremely interesting design details in our room, incredible attention to the most minute details and flawless execution by the staff. We could only stay one night but wished it had been for a week! The rooms were beautiful, the meals were absolutely delicious and the staff super accommodating. We will consider this our "must-stay" destination in New Mexico from now on.

Yelp
We sincerely can't afford this place, but I wish we could. Our friend treated us to an afternoon in his hotel, with a view on the patio and lovely shower to borrow before we headed out on the road. Incredible place. Stunning lobby. Graciously and expansively decorated with wood and modern touches that provide the most unique experience. This is an amazing hotel that you should definately explore. Right across from the sawmill so the walk score is perfect for the weekend.

Yelp
Last week my aunt and I stayed at Hotel Chaco and it was amazing! We had a great stay. The entire hotel is beautiful and well appointed. The rooms were new and modern and had no carpet - YAY! Everyone at the hotel was super pleasant and kind. The only downsides, and they aren't deal breakers for us, were that the check in employees weren't consistent in the information they shared. The group next to us was told about the hotel amenities and restaurant and our clerk didn't, so we had to ask. Also, across the street there is an amazing food hall we wish we'd been told about. FYI its open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner but be aware it closes right at 9pm. We had a drink in the hotel's rooftop bar which has stunning views, amazing food, drinks & dessert menu. One thing we noticed was that the staff was incredibly friendly and seemed to genuinely be enjoying their jobs and each other. Lovely to see! In the rooms, the bathrooms are gorgeous but they have floor lighting that is on a sensor. It takes a long while for the lights to go off and neither one of us (we had our own rooms) didn't realize they'd go off by themselves and we fussed a long time with towels to try to minimize the lighting. There's a glass panel in the shower that is part of the wall next to the bed so it's BRIGHT. This is a detail that would have been nice to have known about maybe during check in or if there had been a note posted about it in the room. Also, the wall the bed is on has beautiful lighting that is on a switch by the door. My poor aunt didn't figure that out and had to sleep with it on all night. Last negative is that the thermostat faces the bed and the light on it is crazy bright and doesn't go off. My aunt put a pillow in front of hers and I stacked a couple of books end to end so mine would be blocked. However the place is CLEAN. So clean and we appreciate that over everything else! So, even with the negatives mentioned, and obviously there was a learning curve on our part, we'd stay there again in a heartbeat!

Yelp
The hotel is beautiful, not great parking and mostly good customer service. The bar or more specifically the bartender, let's call him Bill, is about as personable as a bucket of mud. The level of difficulty it took getting a large glass (not a tumbler, not a dixie cup, not a cutesy slender glass, a glass - one that adults use to you know drink something that lasts more than two sips. He wonders why he got a lousy tip, attitude and poor service mister.
google avatar

Todd R.

Yelp
Staff downstairs are great. Bar staff was great and took great care of us. The girls upstairs had an attitude and just told us we could not just have a drink at the bar we had to wait 45 minutes. When we looked it there was so many free spots it should not have mattered I can say the place is beautiful OMG views are perfect for a late night. Most staff seem to want to make sure your experience is great just not the girls guarding upstairs The atmosphere her is so great. I just want to sit and relax. I want my house to be like this.

Yelp
Check-in was a complete debacle. We arrived after a long and stressful drive from Flagstaff shortly after 3:30 PM; check-in time is 4:00. Our room wasn't ready until well after 5:00 PM. Meanwhile, many other guests were in the lobby waiting for their rooms which also were not ready. Our luggage had been put into the hotel's luggage vault but, as more and more guests arrived, the vault filled up and luggage was accumulating in the Lobby. The issue was resolved eventually but the underlying cause was not enough help in Housekeeping. Mark was the only Valet / Bellman working when we arrived Saturday at 3:30 PM. Saturday. In July. At check-in time. Mark is awesome, friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and works his tail off. At 4:30, I went to the Level 5 Bar. I wanted to pay cash for a drink but Ariana hadn't yet set up her cash drawer. She suggested I charge the drink to my room. As I had not yet been able to check-in, I didn't have a room number to which to charge a drink. We agreed to put my drink on a credit card but, when asked to sign the charge receipt, I found that Ariana's pen didn't work. I ended up paying cash, "Keep the change." Want breakfast? Not available! You must either leave the hotel or order room service. Which leads to an incestuous arrangement. The Sawmill Market, directly across the street from the hotel, opens at 8:00 AM. There are several places inside the Market where you can get breakfast. Guess who owns the Sawmill Market? The Heritage Group, which owns Hotel Chaco. There are no clocks in the room. No way to know the time; no way to set an alarm clock. There were no robes in our room and no turndown service. None of the bars open until 4:00. The bars don't open at all on Mondays and Tuesdays! We initially thought there was a refrigerator in our room but it isn't very cold. I asked the Front Desk to have Dan the Maintenance Man stop by to see if he could make it colder. I was told that they are not 'refrigerators,' they are 'coolers,' intended to keep stuff from getting hot; they are not intended to keep things cold. There is one restaurant inside the hotel, Level 5. Because we had been in the car all day, the last thing we wanted to do was get back into the car, so we ate at Level 5. We hadn't made a reservation; the only available seating was outside on the roof where the wind blew hard and constantly. In my opinion, the restaurant is over-priced (the Chicken Breast is $40) and the menu is pretentious. Neither the Front Desk nor the Valet line answer promptly when we called to have our car brought around. It took several attempts to get an answer - more than once. On the plus side: I have never had a cleaner hotel room, thanks to Housekeeping Manager Valeen. And the bed, oh the bed. The sheets are white white and look as if they'd been ironed! The mattress, however, is beginning to break down in the center. The bathroom is stocked with lots of towels; and the bath towels are large. They are not dingy. They look and feel clean. The water gets hot. The shower is nice. A dim bathroom light stays on all night. There is a magnified lighted make-up mirror. Our safe wasn't working but the Maintenance man arrived promptly and quickly resolved the issue. The lighting in the room is more than adequate. As a traveler with bad knees, I appreciate the height of the toilet. This room has wood floors which, to me, is great. Carpeting in hotel rooms is just gross; you can never tell if it's actually clean. Huge shout-out to Shamise at the Front Desk. As 5:00 was approaching and our room still wasn't ready, she came into the bar and told Billy to comp us a round of drinks. She apologized so sincerely, without making excuses, that she managed to turn our frowns upside down. Valeen also came into the bar, introduced herself and apologized for the rooms not being ready in time, also without making excuses. The room was so clean, it was worth the wait. The GM Liz seems to sincerely want guest feedback. The Lobby is lovely. It's nice to walk inside a hotel and not feel as if you've been in this same lobby hundreds of times. The design and décor throughout the hotel are unique, beautiful and honor the local heritage of the Chaco culture. Same is true of the room. Checkout was uneventful and the invoice was accurate. I think Hotel Chaco has potential. Hopefully, the issues are primarily driven by hiring challenges related to the pandemic and will eventually be resolved so that service and amenities will be as good as the design and decor.

Yelp
I been here for an hour.... I ordered a glass of wine. The couple and I had to wait almost 30 minutes for our drinks. This is ridiculous!!!!! I mean how hard is it to pour a glass of Chardonnay?!?!?!?!? and make a margarita?!?!?! I'm sad. I thought this was gonna be the next good thing.

Yelp
Uniquely beautiful hotel, contemporary design with authentic Native American and Southwestern art throughout the property. Our room was very large with a king bed and comfy mattress, just what we needed after a 13 hour flight from NY (don't ask). Thoughtful touches like discreet reading lamps by the bed and under counter lighting made everything super comfortable. Sinks are made of solid rock set into finely grained wood, just exquisite. The hotel is nicely located in a quiet location just a short walk from Old Town ABQ. Level 5 restaurant has awesome food and decor. Staff was generally friendly and warm but not always on the ball. One day we were out all day and returned 6:00 PM, saw that our room hadn't been touched so asked the front desk for service only to be told it was too late for service then. We were surprised by that especially in a luxe property like Hotel Chaco. Other than that minor issue we loved our stay and would definitely return.

Yelp
A gem in Albuquerque. Decor is inviting and modern and the rooms are well appointed and comfortable. Right near Sawmill Market in Old town. Great upstairs bar with views of the city lights.

Yelp
I'm reviewing the hospitality suite at hotel Chaco. It's a small event space for parties of about 50 or less. I've been here several times. The hotel requires that you purchase and serve their food if you rent this suite. However, the food is atrocious. Totally inedible. Rock-hard cold meatballs with a really bad flavor. Dry pork sandwiches on dryer, flat, cold mushed-up buns. The tiniest tacos I'd ever seen with a sprinkling of mystery meat and I think... pimento? With no cheese. They were just as tasty as they sound. Everything that was supposed to be hot was ice cold. The service was attentive. So much so, that they had us all packed up and ready to leave 10 minutes before our party was over. I don't know how many times I had to tell the server I was not finished with my drink or my cookie. (The cookies were great because we snuck them in ourselves.) She couldn't wait for us to leave, and made her feelings known. Her presence was intense and unwelcoming. For three hours she pestered us: constantly taking unfinished drinks and plates of food away. I felt awful sending away a plate full of food in front of my host who probably paid a lot of money for them. It was embarrassing, but I couldn't choke down the disgustingness. The suite itself is gorgeous. The views are epic. Just eat across the street at the food hall before you come.

Yelp
After 12 hours on the road from California, it was awesome to be greeted by a friendly valet Leo, who also helped us with our bags. When we walked into our room, I was like "WOW! We were in the junior suite. It was very spacious and clean, the layout was amazing. Leo was super helpful he retrieved ice, and extra blankets and suggested a couple of places within walking distance to eat. The entire staff were really nice. We will definitely stay here again next time we are in town!

Yelp
Such a cool vibe! When in Albuquerque, Hotel Chaco is the only place to stay, as it is conveniently located near old town. Not to mention, directly across the street is a new venue "Sawmill Market" housing several different options for food and drinks! The hotel itself is New Mexico at its finest from the lobby to the adjacent bar, a nice lounge area with a fireplace. There's even a wine bar and gift shop on the first floor. Our suite was amazing with beautiful views of the Sandia mountains and colorful sunsets. The restaurant on the fifth floor "LVL 5" is open for brunch, lunch, happy hour and of course dinner and provides more opportunities to enjoy the spectacular Albuquerque sunsets! Stay indoors and enjoy with tons of windows or dine on the patio near one of the fire pits. We had an incredible experience in Albuquerque and can't wait to visit again during the balloon festival!

Yelp
Great hotel in all aspects: location, the room, the service, dining, and the decor. I also loved the serenity garden outside. Beautiful. The bed was very comfortable and pets are allowed. Walking distance to the museum, and Old Town.

Yelp
Years later, after my 1 star review, I still avoid this place like the plague! If you're wise, you will too. They need competition. A W, intercontinental or Waldorf would put them out of business in a week. Nasty management and arrogant service. Small town arrogance for no apparent reason.

Yelp
Simply one of my all-time favorite hotels. The staff is A-1, the rooms well designed and quiet, the gym one of the best hotel gyms I've ever seen. The Sawmill Market recently opened across the street -- so now there are many food options within walking distance. The staff works to keep the hotel COVID safe. I wish I could say the same about the guest, there are a distressing number of people wandering around maskless (which is against New Mexico state law). Highly recommended.

Yelp
This place was awesome! My first stop on a cross country journey. Good Covid protocols, beautiful rooms and excellent food/room service. Get the breakfast burrito! Look forward to visiting again when the world gets back to normal.

Yelp
Chaco hotel is named after the Chaco Canyon which was the center of culture for native Pueblo people, true to its name is designed with local native Indian theme in mind. Hotel is marvelous, and deserving of admiration. It is also dog friendly as you can see from attached pictures. Besides the luxury associated with this hotel, there are other important characteristics. Beds are extremely comfortable, and walls are thick so you will enjoy quiet night of sleep! Also notable point of interest should be a bar/restaurant located on the fifth floor, their ginger beer, and spectacular views! As nothing in life can only be perfect, this hotel comes with pretty steep price tag, so plan accordingly!

Yelp
I spent the night here a week ago and WOW! This is a deliciously, grand hotel right in the heart of Old Town Albuquerque. From the moment I drove up and was greeted by the attendant, to the moment I was leaving and was assisted out, excellence in everything. I had a"Sandia" View room with balcony. Ask for it, it's worth it. Luxurious bath room, clean modern room with nice lighting. While you're there don't miss these features: 1) Level 5 restaurant-go have a drink and luxuriate in the scenery. We had a complimentary breakfast. While it was slow, it was good. What a beautiful setting for waking up in ABQ! 2) take a seat in the lounge just to the right of the reception area. Cozy fireplace, comfy furniture and lovely coffee table books rich with NM culture 3) if it's in season (we just made it!) go to the pool! This property is a sister with Hotel Albuquerque and they share this pool. It's lovely, nice courtyard , comfy lounge chairs. Plenty of fun things to do in Old Town, if you can break away from this resort type property! Love it!

Yelp
I used to recommend this hotel, but after I received horrible customer service of their bartender! I will never recommend this place again. My moms phone when off and the volume was loud and the bartender yelled at my mom telling her she needs to turn it off. Wow what an experience! I left the bartender a 0 tip, after being treated rudely. He told me not come back. They need to work on their customer service. Especially after spending 400 for one night! I went and talk to the front desk and they offered no help! Would never recommend this place to anyone. Will never book this place again for my guys!

Yelp
This hotel is not for a bargain vacation! It is pricey and posh! A suite for 3 nights $2,000. The amenities are not commensurate to the price. You should get more for what you pay. The place is authentic, historical and regionally eye catching. If you want to dip deep I. Your pockets for a great lobby this is the place! The room was nice but $2,000 Nice???? Staff was mostly friendly, service was great from the conference personnel.

Yelp
My family had a terrible experience with an employee named Michaela. Horrible, insensitive response to a situation involving room service. She definitely needs better training on how to kindly handle matters where the hotel let us down.

Yelp
Overall we had a great stay. The room was comfortable and immaculate. The staff was always accommodating and gracious. One employee in particular, Victor, is exemplary! Always lovely and pleasant...We had a bit of a snafu with our airport transportation and he jumped in and got it all sorted for us right away. Will definitely stay here again next time we visit Albuquerque.
