These Are the 14 Best 4-Star Hotels in Paris - AFAR

"Gritty and urban, this area of the 10th arrondissement is a neighborhood where Parisians live and work and hang out at the trendy restaurants on rue du Faubourg Saint-Denis. (You’ll find Paris-roasted specialty coffee at White and cocktails championing French spirits at award-winning bar Le Syndicat.) This vibrant quarter never had a four-star property until the Hotel Chateau d’Eau, the latest property from Touriste Hotels, which has nine design-centric boutique hotels with accessible prices. Hotel Chateau d’Eau debuted in May 2024 with interiors by Necchi Architecture channeling the neighborhood’s 1970s history as a hub for the fashion industry’s fabric suppliers. The lobby is a showcase: a pair of life-size ceramic panthers, leopard print armchairs, lacquered walls, and a record player with a selection of vinyl. Spread across six floors, the 34 guest rooms are small but well-conceived, with even a “single” category available—snapped up by business travelers arriving at the nearby Gare du Nord. They come with Diptyque bath amenities and plush carpets in orange, purple, and other retro tones. Superior room no. 602 offers street views from its windows under the eaves. There’s also a gym in a vaulted cellar." - Mary Winston Nicklin

Value for money and looked like the pictures. Newly renovated and an amazing stay. The hotel was clean and the staff friendly. The bathroom was on the tiny side - but the products, towels and everything was top notch. ||It’s located in a buzzing area and with a lot of different people and cultures. Lots of cafés and not too far from anything. Overall we felt very safe in the area. ||24/7 desk so you can leave your key and bagage. Very nice not to have a key with you when you are out and about. ||Overall an amazing stay and we loved the area.

I had such a horrid experience at this hotel. I was trying to book their partner hotel which was not available and it sent me to this hotel's website for booking. It looked nice online, but I was NOT aware that the hotel was just barely open and still partially under construction. My friend and I were the only guests despite the front desk insisting we weren't and because our hall way and room smelled of wet paint and still had paper on the floor, we requested a different room only to be told that we would have to pay more. Considering all of the doors of the other rooms were open to let the paint dry, we were very aware we were alone in this hotel, and it was almost creepy. The hotel staff did nothing to make us more comfortable and insisted they were not under construction. The room was small - even by Paris standards. The bathroom door wouldn't close, the street noise was very loud, the toilet seat fell off the toilet, and the light in the shower did not work. When asking the "manager" for assistance he met me with hostility and gaslit me by saying none of this was true. I would not be surprised if this place closes down in under a year. It appears they put much more effort in the aesthetic for photos than concern for their guests' comfort.

The hotel staff were lovely! I think they were trying extra hard to be accommodating because they knew how crappy their hotel was. ||It was apparent upon arrival that liberities had been taken when photographing and describing this hotel. The rooms and bathrooms were very small, which is to be expected in Europe. However, the broken toilet seat, non functioning air conditioner, shower curtain that despite its best efforts, did not perform the duties of a shower curtain, telephone that was “only decorative” and bath products that boosted the Diptyque packaging but were clearly filled with some unidentified caustic liquid was not to be expected in a hotel charging €200-300 per night.| The location was not the best and not really close to anything if you require Uber or taxi services. However, if you wish to travel like the locals, the metro is close by. The neighborhood to the left of the hotel was a little sketchy but to the right it seemed to be family oriented with cafes, a lovely cheese and wine shop and multiple boulangeries. The streets were quite lively at night and into the wee hours which prompted us to send up a word of thanks for the lousy view from our room. Would I stay here again? Absolutely Not! Completely overpriced even for Paris. Would I recommend this hotel? Absolutely! But only to those I do not care for. Keep looking folks…there are better hotels than this in Paris!

The hotel is good in price quality, the morning receptionist is very remarkable. The bad thing is that the housekeeping staff does not respect the signs, if you put a do not disturb sign they come in anyway!

A really nice hotel with super friendly staff, small but nice rooms that include everything needed. Location is ok - yes, it is not avenue Montaigne, but you can reach Marais in 15-20 min, metro station is just around the corner. The design of rooms is very nice - Parisian chic! Price is affordable for Paris.

I had a very good time in the hotel du chateau d'eau. I loved the decoration of this brand new hotel. 70's vibe, very stylish! The people working at the reception were very charming and helpful! I also liked the location, in the heart of the 10th district, near by all great restaurants, bars, shops for coinnaisseurs. Not "touristy" at all, you need to find this kind of niche place in a more "grassroots" neighberhood.

Great stay, and Tom on Reception is one of the nicest people you will ever meet. Looking forward to coming back.
