Hotel Cielo Rojo

This small boutique hotel is a rare gem in Mexico. It feels less like a hotel and more like a beautifully curated home - filled with original Mexican art and thoughtful details. Everything is really clean in a way that feels organic and intentional, not sterile or manufactured. (Whoever put this together clearly values authenticity, warmth and beauty.) The little bistro in the hotel’s interior courtyard is another treasure. I felt nourished with real food, fresh and organic ingredients. Every meal feels made with love. (And the waiter Jose is amazing.) This is the kind of place you almost don't want to tell people about because it’s so special. A place where you immediately feel cared for, relaxed and connected to Mexico’s heart and soul.

Avoid at all costs! Unfortunately, our stay did not fully meet expectations, especially considering the prices charged. One of the main issues was our interaction with the female receptionist with long hair, who was consistently rude, defensive, and passive-aggressive. The other issue was that the pool advertised in their post I not part of their property. They were very shady about it when we asked for access. When we inquired about laundry services, we were told the cost was 200 pesos. However, when it came time to pay, the amount had increased to 300 pesos without any prior explanation. When we politely asked about the difference, her response was dismissive and unprofessional, which left us feeling misled. Our room was located on the ground floor right next to the reception area, and after this encounter, the atmosphere felt uncomfortable, making it unpleasant to pass by the front desk. Another concern was being woken up at night by a flying cockroach in our room. After reporting this to the same receptionist, she denied it was a cockroach and insisted it was a fly, making us feel as though our concern was not being taken seriously. Traveling is meant to be a relaxing experience, so it was disappointing that these situations affected our stay.

Naturally, we asked what the additional 100 pesos was for, and instead of a clear explanation, she became defensive and rude. This made us feel misled and uncomfortable. Unfortunately, our room was on the ground floor right next to the reception, and after this interaction, we felt uneasy even walking past the front desk. A second issue occurred when a flying cockroach woke us up during the night. We killed it and left it on the floor. When we reported this to the same receptionist, she dismissed our concern and insisted it was just a fly, making us feel as though we were being accused of lying. People go on vacation to relax and enjoy some peace, and it was disappointing that our stay was impacted by these negative interactions. Positive: Saul, the male receptionist, was kind, helpful, and consistently pleasant. His attitude was a bright spot during our stay.

Right in the middle of this charming small town. Very helpful staff. I liked the design of the hotel, I found it had charm. Main street is right there, and has tons of restaurants & bars. Liked the room. There's a beautiful quiet pool at a sister place, just a minute or two walk from the hotel. Next time, I'm in San Pancho, I'll book this place again.

Beautiful quaint hotel. Delicious breakfast, very friendly staff. Beach only 5-10min walk away. The rooms were very comfortable The town has many roosters and they crow throughout the night. This is just something to be aware of. Overall wonderful stay !

The hotel staff is very friendly and always happy to help with any questions. The food at their restaurant is delicious, all prepared with organic local ingredients. The rooms are beautifully decorated. The hotel is located on a quiet street 6 minutes away from the beach. You might be woken up by nature, i.e., birds (earplugs are available in the room). I had a terrific time there!
