Hotel City Inn

A very comfy hotel- although confusing at first! We booked City Inn; the reception was closed with a sign explaining to go Hotel Euler reception. Our breakfast was actually in a different hotel - Hotel Metropol. All 3 hotels are connected and you walk inside to get between them..Our city inn room was 536, this was on the 3rd not 5th floor. From reception lift to 1st floor then walk across the corridor to ascend two different flights of stairs. Hence confusing at first!! The room was basic but fine. Good shower and comfy bed but the pillows were awful. Breakfast (when you arrived there) was continental and fine. Staff were lovely. Location is brill. 3 minute walk to train station where you get on/off airport shuttle bus. Walk in other direction through a park to get to bars/restaurants. Basel is lovely. I would return to the hotel but just wanted to explain why I thought it was confusing.

This hotel was very decent for what we paid, and its in a great location- super close to the train and bus station! beds were hard as a rock though and not the most comfortable to sleep on. guess it would be down to preference.

Well, this hotel is clean, quiet and located steps from the station. That’s the positive. It is also offering extremely small rooms (not to mention the bathroom for Lilliputians) where you can not even walk around the bed or put a chair. It is also artificially created in a set of connected buildings making for an odd and very inconvenient access. The lift doesn’t even go to all floors. On top of that it’s pricing policy is completely inappropriate. Way, way too expensive for what is offered. A shame.

Positive: Excellent staff! Negative: Room was too warm with no way to lower the temperature unless a window was opened.

When you arrive, free transport on the 50 tram. Arrived outside the station and struggled to find as it’s in between their sister hotels which you gain access through. Just to warn you, mobility issues and it’s a no. Lift only goes to certain floors so lots of steps. Room basic but clean. Bed really uncomfortable bed. Both had back ache. All landings have a coffee machine and a kettle so unlimited supply. Cleaners great and attentive. Given a Basel card on arrival for free transport. Supermarket top floor in the station for cheap water and basic food as Switzerland is expensive. S

Excellent location. Very clean. Gentleman on a night shift at the the reception on 15th Dec was a STAR! Female staff member of the 8floor (breakfast) was initially rude claiming in a public that we can not communicate properly, sure that we want to bilk breakfast, next day trying to improve but it was elephant in the room already. No wending machine for night commers, but fruits for a pick up at the reception (nice).|Great for a short stay.

I booked without high expectations as it's the cheapest hotel right in the middle of Basel. It includes breakfast with a variety of drinks, breads, fruits, cereals...etc. Location wise is so central, close to the SBB train station, Market Hall and tram stations. The room is clean, it's huge , the shower room is big with a water massage. The bed is comfortable for me , the only complaint is the flat pillow. The hotel is only 2 minutes from all the stations including bus 50 going to the airport. It encompasses three hotels so it shares the same entrance as the metropol hotel.

Next to the main train station. Great location. Clean rooms, excellent breakfast.
