Suited our needs with a sporting group for the long weekend. Old building so can be noisy but I wore ear plugs and slept great. Great service. Breakfast included which was fantastic for the athletes. Small rooms but all we needed. Separate toilet/shower in close proximity to the rooms. Individual bathrooms on same floor so no sharing amenities. Tram stop about 20m up the road. Train station also just up the road. Short walk to Chapel Street/jam factory. Parking is limited and only on the streets unless you go to a paid carpark.. clear zones of an evening makes it difficult to leave the car parked.

We'd read a couple of negative reviews (though most were positive) so had some trepidation about staying here, but it was an excellent stay. The bathrooms, whilst shared, are plentiful and kept incredibly clean, I think they do a round of cleaning every hour or so, so the towels are continually refreshed. We stayed over new years eve and were worried there would be a lot of noise between the rooms but there wasn't at all. One of the fans in the room was very noisy so we couldn't use it, and the other didn't reach the top and bottom bunk so one of us was always too hot. Apart from that, great stay, would recommend.

For the price it’s a decent stay. Recommended if budget is your primary concern, if it’s comfort might be best to look elsewhere. Biggest pro is that it’s close to CBD and right next to South Yarra station. The staff were friendly and happy to answer any and all questions. My biggest gripe was the lack of air conditioning in the rooms which made it very difficult to sleep during the warmer nights. Our room’s window was facing the other half of the building so there was no airflow and it was very stuffy. Provided fan had very little airflow. The shared amenities are okay but you are really at the mercy of the cleanliness of the other people staying at the hotel. Need to grab your own fresh towels every day as the cleaners won’t come into the room throughout the stay. Only before and after your stay. If the above doesn’t bother you then you’ll definitely enjoy your stay.

Really good value for money accommodation. It is a bit out of central Melbourne but easy enough to get into the city as it is right by a train station. I had a twin room with shared bathroom and they were both clean. It has coffee facilities ans microwaves and if you book direct they seem to give you free breakfast. Lovely stay and better value I think then some of the central hostels. Just a note there are lots of stairs to get to the room in case that is a challenge for some guests.

I stayed here for a week. The room and shared bathroom were clean. They have a spacious dining room, but no stove. They only provide fridge and microwave. The staff are friendly and helpful. Although there is no elevator, the staff helped me to bring my luggage. It's really close to the South Yarra Train Station, Tram, and a lot of restaurants. And also, the hostel is really safe. U can do an early check in if your room is ready.

Staff are friendly and rooms are clean. Mindful of one thing, I asked to be moved as some of the "private" rooms share a door to other rooms which have quite the gap under them and it feels like you're in a room with other guest separated by a saloon style door. The staff were happy to move me however which I appreciated much. ;-) Also excellent location.

We stayed in the budget double room, which was basically a very small room with a bed and desk. The price was very reasonable but with hindsight, we'd probably pay a bit more to stay in something a bit more comfortable in future. Not the hotel's fault but there was lots of noise/screaming coming from the street in the early hours of the morning. The proximity of the hotel to the train station was great. The hotel staff were very friendly and the place was clean. Overall, I appreciated the hard work that the staff puts in to be friendly and to keep the place clean at a very cheap price.

I really liked this hotel, but there are a few things you should know before going in. 1) There are only shared bathrooms. 2) Rooms are quite small, and there’s hostel rooms available, too. 3) No alcohol is allowed because they have a lot of camps with kids. 4) At busy breakfast times, there will be a lot of kids from the camps so it will be loud. Same goes for the bathrooms in the morning. 5) There is no elevator and no rooms on the ground floor. Be advised if you have heavy luggage or someone who can’t climb stairs. All in all, I really loved my stay here. The place itself is amazing and so beautiful looking! The bathrooms and breakfast times were not a problem after the kids left. The location was amazing and there are lots of nearby places to eat or get takeout. You can use the microwave and tea kettle in the kitchen, too. As well as all the cups and plates if you need to.

Yelp
The only reason I am giving this hotel 2 stars is the location, free breakfast and the fact it's clean. We booked a double room and ended up in a double bed with a bunk bed above it. Due to online booking seemingly not being aligned with the hotel availability we had to move rooms on our last night and as a couple ended up in a room with 2 bunkbeds no window and no aircon when it was 35 degrees. The hallway smelt terrible, the toilets were quite a walk away from the rooms we were in. No lift so you have to lug your suitcases up 4 sets of stairs. This is a glorified hostel with hotel prices.

Yelp
We experienced a problem when checking in and the staff immediately assisted us and transferred us to the Claremont apartments. Super clean, very impressed. Great breakfast at the guesthouse.
