Where to Stay in Madrid (Updated 2025)

"Located in the heart of Retiro, Claridge offers big, affordable rooms with luxury touches — work desks, AC, leather headboards and nice bath products — making it a comfortable mid‑range family option." - Matthew Kepnes

The location was great! Just what we needed for this trip. We had 2 adjoining rooms which was perfect for our family so they kids and adults could sleep in separate rooms, yet still be close/safe. Breakfast was amazing! I'm not giving 5 stars because there aren't particularly amazing views (especially with the road construction currently happening), and because the pool has limited hours (11-8) so we didn't even get to use it, is very tiny, and is on the 1st floor so it doesn't have good views either. That being said, employees at reception were very kind/helpful and if we're in the area again, we'll consider returning.

Great experience! We stayed on the first floor and did not hear any of the street traffic. Rooms were clean, staff was super nice. Big shoutout to David whom helped me figure out all the breakfast options lol He clearly saw I was overwhelmed (in a good way) and helped me out! Definitely recommend you stay here!!

The hotel is OK. The lobby is nice, the rooms are small and sort of outdated. With minimal amenities. Lights are not centralised, so when you're on the bed you need to go around the room and turn them off one by one. The location is OK, but again nothing special. Currently there is also a water outage in the whole hotel, so we cannot have a drink or take a shower... The hotel did not tell us, once we called them, they said that there is nothing to worry because the whole hotel does not have water.

Amazing ,lovely hotel with beautiful interior design. Some people might find it away from city center but for us it wasn’t a problem as hotel restaurant was amazing. Underground parking is also a huge plus. Nice pool area. Wonderful breakfast with freshly squeezed juices. Friendly staff. Comfortable bed. Good water pressure in the shower. I can easily say that 4 stars are well deserved. Well done and thank you for nice stay❤️

Really nice hotel. The rooms are refurbished and year ago so look great. There are some engineering works outside but no noise on first floor noticed. The staff are friendly and welcoming. Thanks to all. See you next year

Very clean and modern hotel. Friendly staff. If you are a tourist this is not close to any attractions, but prices are fair and 1 hrs walking in good neighborhoods get you to attractions. Breakfast is good but pricey. Beds were too hard for me, but overall a decent stay.

Room taps ran out of water for a good amount of time. . Windows have no views .. cost us almost £150/night .. absolutely not worth the price. Truly disappointed.

All is good. Clean, spacious and comfy environment. Mattress of the sofa bed is too soft. It would be better if there is a cushion similar to those on the beds. Locates at linea 6 of metro, easy to reach different places. Close to the Retiro Park.||We have 3 people but there were only two glasses in the bathroom, 2 cups and 2 glasses in the bedroom.||I would recommend this hotel.

Yelp
Stayed here for 3 nights in May 2015. It's a quick 15-20 minute drive from the airport (which will cost you 30 euros in a cab). Check-in went well as the front desk girls were friendly, gave us the WIFI password, and provided us with a map of Madrid and suggestions of where to go. This map came in handy as we did not plan anything beforehand and were spontaneous with where we went. We wound up walking everywhere and seeing almost all the attractions on the map! The rooms are small but updated and comfy. Yes, the "double bed" is two twin beds pushed together.. but they do give this disclosure in the room description when booking. The bathroom is a good size and the water pressure is great! I loved the location of the hotel. I didn't want to be in Central Madrid but close enough to walk there - this was perfect! 10 minute walk to Retiro Park, 20-30 minute walk to Puerto del Sol, the Cathedral, and Royal Palace. Also, we didn't try any of these but there is a bar/restaurant, breakfast area, and gym in the hotel as well.

Yelp
Considering that they have 4 stars, they fall way behind there! It's nothing like the Claridges in London, so don't get the two confused! We checked in and when I got to the room, I didn't have the wifi access code. I called down to the desk and the guy who answered could hardly speak English. He gave me the code, or at least thought he did. He said, 2-2... X as in Holland... Of course it was wrong, so I had to go back downstairs to get the right one. IT was nothing like what he said; he msut have made it up. I booked a double room, queen sized bed for me and my wife. Well, they're two single beds stuck together. Four stars? I don't think so. What is also funny is that when you go to a hotel, even a half way decent one, you get a nice pad of paper and hotel pen. Well, here they have a half sized hotel pencil! Its an OK place to stay but don't pay too much and don't get your hopes up if you're expecting luxury.

Yelp
Just stayed a couple of days - great room and bed - not great location for immediate wants but for the price a very good deal
