"Spread across the city are the Cocoon hotels—Hauptbahnhof, Stachus, and Sendlinger Tor, the latter being between central Marienplatz and Werksviertel-Mitte in the young, student-forward neighborhood of the same name."

The hotel itself is fantastic. Like others said, don't stay there with people you don't want to see without their clothes on, because the showers aren't separate. But otherwise very comfortable, and with good service. Some people have complained about the noise from the construction but my wife and I never heard it. Our room was actually incredibly quiet, but it may depend on whether your room faces the street or not. Anyway, no complaints about the hotel itself. The location however....yikes. Being close to the train station and Marienplatz is basically the only pro. But the neighborhood is super sketchy. You hardly see any Germans in this area. One of the only times I saw a German nearby was some poor woman being catcalled by a man trying to lure her into his dirty hookah bar. Gangs of loud and aggressive people wandering around. Strip clubs. Even saw a drug deal take place not even 50 meters from the hotel entrance. But if you're willing to brave all of that, it's a great place to stay.

Nice hotel near the center of Munich. The position is good, near both to the Central station, where more or less every public transport can be taken, and the center of the city. The neighbourhood is not the best, but nothing dangerous. The room is quite nice, even if the double in my opinion is too small for two persons. The staff is gentle, and they try to accomplish the requests as they can. The breakfast buffet is quite rich and tasty. The price, in my opinion, is a little bit high with respect to what is offered.

For the price and location, this hotel is an excellent choice. Situated conveniently close to the town centre and the main train station, it offers great value. The hotel maintains a high standard of cleanliness, which is commendable. While there isn’t daily room service, it is available upon request. The street and area surrounding the hotel might seem somewhat unsafe late in the evening, but honestly, it’s not a major issue. Considering the price and location, I would say it’s definitely worth the money. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. We needed to check in a day early, and they ensured we stayed in the same room for the entire duration of our stay, which was very convenient. The room itself was clean and well-equipped with all the essentials. My only minor complaint would be the pillows, as they were a bit uncomfortable. However, overall, I have no significant issues with the room or the hotel.

My experience at this hotel was outstanding. Conveniently located close to the old town and public transport links, it boasts clean and spacious rooms. The breakfast was delicious with plenty of choices, and the staff impressed me with their friendliness and professionalism. The WiFi worked perfectly, making my stay even more enjoyable.

This hotel looks exactly like the pictures. I'm pretty sure the main image was our room. It was clean, had great temperature control, and everything we needed in the bathroom for a one night stay.||My daughter and I flew in from the US and went to bed after being awake for 36 hours. I didn't set an alarm and we woke up to the room steward ready to clean our (supposed to be vacant) room. We apologized and they were very kind and gave us 30 minutes to get ready without charging us. I sincerely appreciated the grace.||Free water/coffee in the lobby, helpful staff. The walk into the main part of town was less than 10 minutes and safe. I would recommend to anyone who wants a budget accomodation that is clean, comfortable, safe, and well-staffed.

Room small and functional. Shower and toilet area were a little different than usual with both sharing the same door. Front desk personnel Rustam and Vanessa were outstanding!! Spoke good English and very helpful with directions and recommendations. Overall would recommend.

This is the worst hotel in Munich, nevertheless the perfect location. I have booked a deluxe double room for two and then on the arrival I was accommodated in a standard double room for just one visitor. To accommodate the second person as I have been booked I needed to pay additional 25 € per day. No breakfast, even is written that they offer best one. Yes they do but it costs additional 20€ per day. Do not stay there!

Clean, nice rooms. Cool design. Good reception service, decent breakfast. Good location, close to city center; it didn't feel super safe at night for a group of females but nothing happened.

Yelp
I can't say enough good things about this place. We recently stayed here for Oktoberfest 2023 and had a great time. This hotel is so centrally located, close to the train station, old town and was only a 15 minute walk to the Oktoberfest grounds. There was tons of food options and stores in walking distance. The staff here could not have been more friendly. From the moment we arrived to the time we left the staff were so caring and accommodating. This certainly helped when the airlines lost our bag and the hotel helped keep us updated on the bags arrival while we were out seeing the sites. In the lobby they have a bar with a few snacks and multiple sittings area that are very hip and modern. They have water and coffee in the lobby 24/7. They have a breakfast option that you can pay extra for during your stay, but we didn't try this. We stayed on the 6 floor, the elevator only goes to the 5th floor so we just had to walk up a flight of stairs but we didn't mind and we honestly took the stairs more often then we did the elevator. As far as the room, it's was just what we needed for a week in Munich. Yes the room was small but we didn't go to Munich to hang out in a hotel, so it was perfect. The shower was also great. We did pay extra for a courtyard view which I didn't really think is needed since the street in front of the hotel isn't bad. We kept our do not disturb sign up so we did not get house keeping but that was our choice. Don't hesitate to book this hotel especially if it's during Oktoberfest!

Yelp
This was the cutest hotel and central to sightseeing. The bed was super comfy, and you get two comforters! No fighting over the blanket. Decor was zen like with green bamboo wallpaper, infused water upon arrival, and clean and modern designs in the room. We loved it! Book here!!

Yelp
Flower power hotel pretty close to the main station in Munich. Very stylish but important details of a modern good hotel are not met like e.g. properly closing shades, big towels in the bathroom or a real choice of 'Müslis' in the morning. And the coffee is really disgusting - I think it is the first time ever I did not finish a coffee in the morning. To get a correct invoice at check out seems to be also quite a challenge. I am regularly for business in Munich but this hotel was a premiere and will stay so.

Yelp
I have stayed in many hotels near the main train station in Munich. The area is kind of questionable but I have never felt unsafe. The Cocoon Stachus is a nice modern hotel. It is considered a budget hotel but it is quite modern. I recently stayed in a single room and while it was not huge, it was comfortable. The room was colorful and the bed was comfortable. One of the strangest parts of the room is the bathroom. There isn't a separate bathroom. The sink and shower are in the room. The shower is glass and does not offer much privacy. If you are sharing this room with someone then you need to make sure you are comfortable with them watching you shower. Pros: AC inexpensive comfortable central location 5 Euros per night to use in their bar if you choose not to have your room cleaned Cons: local area can be off-putting to some rooms facing main street can be somewhat noisy Overall: I like this hotel and would stay here again when in Munich.

Yelp
We stayed at the Cocoon Stachus over a long weekend in Munich. I chose it based on location and price. Having never heard of the Cocoon Hotels, it was kind of a shot in the dark. In the end, I'm really glad we went. The design is quite interesting. It's very bright, casual, friendly and so not German. Our room was comfortable and clean. It was also small-ish but the way that it was laid out to use one door for multiple purposes, was really great. The staff was really friendly, breakfast was quite good and I'd definitely stay there again. If I had a couple of quibbles, they'd be that I hate paying for parking & breakfast in European hotels. I just wish they'd either build it into the price or drop it all together. Aside from that, we really enjoyed our time there.

Yelp
I felt like I was in a cruise ship room LOL in Europe the rooms are none to be small in size, so when my family of four checked in we were worried that we will not all fit comfortably. To our surprise the room was cleverly laid out to the point that the size didn't bother us at all. The kids side of the room had a double bunk bed and my husband and I our bed was a queen size. the bathroom shares a sliding door that when showering you slide it to one side or if your using the toilet you slide it to the other. All and all it was a great room. the seating area in the lobby was spacious and comfortable. The kids played sorry and uno downstairs and has a blast around town. There is also plenty of walking distance places to eat in Munich and the square is roughly about a 15-20 min walk. We are at HB haus and it was awesome. This place was affordable and I definitely recommend staying here when visiting Munich. O I almost forgot if you drive (like we did) there is a parking deck that cost 12 Euros a day.

Yelp
This was the worst of the four hotels we stayed at during our trip to Germany and Austria. The interior of our room looked considerably worse than in the online photos. Online, the hotel tries to look hip and modern. In person, the colors and furnishings look like they are from the 80s. They even have an old-style elevator with a door that swings open and shut. The best part of the hotel is the proximity to the train station. If you are arriving or leaving town by train or getting around by the subway, then this is a very convenient place to stay.

Nikkie F.

Yelp
The hotel was cute interior wise. Nothing really to stand out with the amenities. They have a water spout in the lobby with two buckets of ice next to it and glasses. So of course guests use the ice for water, but than the staff freaks out and yells at people for using the ice saying it's for the breakfast buffet, I probably heard this ten times over my two day stay here. It really ruined the atmosphere hearing the staff constantly complain the their guests. Put up a sign so people would know!!

Yelp
Room was quite cramped, however, the staff were great and it was near everything- including the main train station.

Yelp
I stayed in the Cocoon Sendlinger Tor for more than one year and I was very satisfied with this hotel. Now I visited Munich again and I tried the Cocoon Stachus. It is a very good hotel, the location is very central and close to the main station and also the subway, it is a walkable distance to Marienplatz. Close to Sendliger Tor where you can find restaurants and bars and night life. The rooms are clean and the breakfast is also ok. I would recomand the location anytime.

Yelp
I stayed at this hotel a total of two times. The first time was in august of 2012, and the second time in august of 2013. Clearly if I hadn't liked the hotel, I wouldn't have booked it during my second trip. Compared to other hotels within the same price range and in the same area, Cocoon Stachus has a modern design. Its perfect for the younger crowd. The lobby has a bar, so you can get a shot of gray goose while you're checkin in - or anytime, for that matter. There's always an attendant at the loby, and check-in is 24 hours - this is awesome, because most other hotels offer check in between specific times only, and when you're traveling sometimes it's difficult to get to the hotel before check in ends. The rooms are pretty normal in size. They have an ipod dock so u can play your tunes. wifi is free. just one thing i didn't like - the shower doors leak sometimes. Once i flooded the floor because i didn't slide the door all the way in apparently. the location is good. its a block away from the main train station, and a 5min walk to Karlsplatz, a major subway station. If you're traveling, staying in the area where this hotel is located is very ideal because it's close to old town munich and convenient for any other sight seeing locations due to the proximity to Karlzplatz station.
