A small, safe hotel in a tourist-friendly part of town. The staff are friendly and helpful and the rooms are spotless and air conditioned. A busy market 100 metres down the street comes alive at night with bars, restaurants and street food.
The Red Bus (R1) to the beaches stops outside the hotel. It leaves every couple of minutes (costs $1 each way - 20 min to beach). There are also lots of tours that leave outside the hotel door.
It can get noisy some nights due to the local bars that occasionally have bands.
There is no tea or coffee in the rooms, just a small selection of soft drinks and potato chips in the lobby. Most of the bedrooms don't get natural light or views, so enquire in advance if you need a view. The Internet is very patchy, almost unusable in some rooms.
One nice touch is the masseur who will do room visits or chair massages in the lobby, he's excellent. There's also a roof garden to wash your clothes and air dry them if you've been on the road a long time.
This is perfect for anyone on a budget who wants to feel safe, secure and avoid the expensive Cancun beach strip. Don't be put off by low prices, it's an excellent little spot for short stays.
