Quiet, safe hotel in a tourist-friendly part of town. Staff are extremely helpful, friendly and chatty. The rooms are spotless, spacious and air conditioned. A busy market 100metres down the street comes alive at night with bars, restaurants, street foods, trinkets and miracles cures for baldness.
The Red Bus (R1) runs from outside the hotel to the main beaches. It leaves every couple of minutes ($1 each way for the 20 min journey). There are also dozen of daily tours within 100m of the hotel door.
There is no pool as hinted on the website. It can get noisy at night - the local bars sometimes stay open until very late but it's only on certain nights. There are no luxuries such as tea or coffee in the rooms or lobby - just a small selection of soft drinks and potato chips to purchase at the lobby. Lastly, the rooms are poorly lit - the hotel design means that most of the rooms don't get natural light or views (ask in advance if you need a view). Internet is very patchy.
One very nice touch is an onsite masseur who can do room visits or chair massages in the lobby and he's excellent. There's also a handy little roof garden to wash and hang your clothes if you've been on the road a long time.
Perfect for anyone on a budget who wants to feel safe, secure and avoid the expensive Cancun beach strip. Don't be put off by low prices, it's an excellent little spot.
