An Unforgettable Roman Gem: Hotel Columbia Exceeds Expectations My recent stay at the Hotel Columbia in Rome was truly exceptional, and I cannot recommend this establishment highly enough. It’s more than just a hotel; it’s a perfectly situated, charming, and elegant retreat right in the heart of the historical center of Rome. From the moment we arrived, we felt instantly transported and utterly delighted by the hotel's warm, classic atmosphere. The decor strikes a beautiful balance between traditional Roman elegance and comfortable modernity. The experience was elevated by the genuinely wonderful team working there. The staff is friendly, professional, and incredibly attentive. Every interaction, from check-in to asking for local recommendations, was handled with grace and efficiency. It’s clear they take immense pride in ensuring every guest feels welcomed and cared for—a five-star service experience that makes a huge difference. However, the real showstopper of the Hotel Columbia is its stunning rooftop coffee bar. This beautiful space provides a spectacular backdrop for starting your day or winding down after an adventure. Enjoying a superb, leisurely breakfast on the rooftop terrace over the Eternal City was an absolute highlight. Equally magical are the evenings spent up there, sipping a classic Italian cocktail; it is the perfect spot for a drink in the evening and offers an ambiance that simply can't be beaten. If you are looking for a base that combines prime location, sophisticated charm, and unparalleled service for your next Roman holiday, the Hotel Columbia is the ideal choice. I look forward to returning soon!

I would like to say that I have stayed at thousands of hotels across my lifetime and I have never experienced the level of service that Hotel Columbia has offered. We stayed twice within the same vacation, for two days before and two days after a 9 day cruise. We also booked two different types based on availability, a superior room and a standard room. Both were fabulous. The ladies at the front desk and upstairs on the beautiful rooftop garden were so lovely and helpful, we never wanted for a single thing. The rooms were quite beautiful, always clean, and the view from the windows were wonderful or interesting no matter which side we were on. The location is fantastic, within walking distance of Termini Station and many shops and restaurants. What really took the cake was the welcome we got when we arrived for the second part of our trip. We were greeted with a handwritten note and a plate of delicious shortbread cookies. This was the finishing perfection touch for our once-in-a-lifetime overseas trip. Thank you, Hotel Columbia, I will forever remember you and hope to be back soon!

Excellent location, well placed for everything.|Reception staff very friendly and helpful.|Room was small, but bright enough and clean. It was a Standard room and we didn’t realise that this meant there was no kettle provided; a Superior room is necessary for tea and coffee provision. The room was very well serviced; even clean towels got replaced! Bed was extremely comfortable. No road noise, and a good night’s sleep was had.|No tea or coffee machines in breakfast room. Coffee is served by wait staff (which is just one person) so by the time it arrives you’ve eaten half your breakfast. Best plan is to ask for coffee first, then go find a table. Coffee was lukewarm. Apart from that, breakfast provision was superb.

Not worth the price at all. • Around 5 a.m., a corridor alarm went off and woke me up. It lasted about several minutes and completely ruined my rest. • The bathroom setup was not clearly described on the booking page. There was only a bathtub with no detachable shower head. The water temperature was also very limited — fine for a quick shower, but impossible to take a hot bath in winter. • I am traveling with my boyfriend, and the hotel addressed me using his last name in a room message, even though I provided my own ID at check-in. This felt outdated and disrespectful. One star only for the friendly staff. Many hotels nearby — choose elsewhere if possible.

We were travelling as a group of 3, so the triple room was perfect for our needs. Unfortunately, we had only 1 night in Rome on our way to a cruise but we were happy with our accommodations. The room was comfortable and clean, although showing it's age a bit, and the breakfast on the 5th floor and terrace was exceptional, especially the great selection of coffees, made to order.||The reception staff was friendly and helpful, showing us locations on the map. ||The location is very handy as it is only a few minutes walk from the Termini station and also not far from some of the popular historical sites: Trevi Fountain, Colosseum, Forum, etc.||If I have occasion to visit Rome again in the near future, I would definitely consider staying at Hotel Columbia again.

We stayed for 2 nights in September 2025. From the minute we arrived at hotel we were met with very friendly staff. Our room was not ready, but stored our luggage for us. We didn’t have to wait long before we were given room. Very clean, bed was comfortable. Buffet breakfast was good ..

Positives: I cannot put into words the level of joy I felt to see scrambled eggs and bacon at breakfast after over a week of being stuck with the all-sweet Italian breakfast. The location is perfect - right by the train station and metro. Negatives: mosquitos can be an issue but they offer treatment for it if you want. Be warned that if you’re visiting in October, they’re switching from AC to heat, so the room can get quite hot. You can ask the front desk for a fan.

Me and my girlfriend stayed at the columbia hotel at the beginning of May this year. We stayed for one week and it was one of the best hotels i have ever been. Its in the centre about 5 minutes away from the central train station. The service was awesome, the stuff was very friendly. Perfect location to start any sightseeing in Rom. We will be back for sure. ML Roland and Manuela

Yelp
Our family of three stayed here for 8 nights recently and are very happy with our stay. What a warm, welcoming environment from the moment we walked in! Every staff member that we encountered went above and beyond to make sure we had a comfortable stay. The hotel is not modern but it has so much charm. They give you one key for the room that is attached to a heavy tassel which you turn in every time you leave. There is someone at the front desk 24 hours/day so you just retrieve it when you come back. We found that no matter who was manning the front desk, they always recognized you and retrieved the correct key seemingly before being told your name/room number! They also have a wonderful daily breakfast on the beautiful rooftop terrace and the staff, there, were also phenomenal! The offer an assortment of croissants, bread, tortes, cakes, cold cuts, cheeses, tomatoes, yogurt, fruit, cereals, scrambled eggs, and more! One of the ladies there spoiled us with deliciously foamy, extra cappuccinos each morning. They even provided "to go" breakfast bags for us when we had to get up very early for a tour. We also enjoyed evening drinks on the terrance. It was really pleasant because we were entertained by someone singing from the restaurant across the street! We stayed in a "family" room with two floors. That made it nice for our adult daughter who had a room upstairs to herself. Our room overall was very clean and the beds were comfortable with a large bathroom. The night before checking out, we were surprised with a knock on the door. We were greeted with a platter of cookies and a kind note thanking us for staying with them. How sweet!

Yelp
Patricia, the owner, along with the rest of her staff were absolutely delightful. This hotel is super close to the Roma Termini train station...about a 3-5 minute walk. It's located amongst some great restaurants, and one of the best pizza places I've ever been to (recommended by the staff). Our room was clean, spacious and welcoming. The rooftop terrace was relaxing, and the drinks are the best we've had in all of Europe (with excellent prices to match). I honestly cannot say enough wonderful things about this hotel.

Yelp
The front desk staff at Hotel Columbia was awesome. They made our stay simple and fun. The room comes with a complimentary breakfast, which was a great way to start the morning. In the evening the breakfast room serves beer, wine and snacks on the deck. They are all at reasonable prices, especially considering it is Rome. The rooms are large and the bathrooms are nice. The mattresses are very firm, too firm for my wife. The location worked great for us. This hotel is a short walk from the Termini and Republicca subway stations. This made it simple to reach the hotel coming into and leaving Rome. It is also right by the national museum Palazzo Massimo.

Yelp
We requested a non-smoking room for the 5 night stay and the room reeked so painfully of cigarette smoke, that even my smoking traveling companion was offended. Luckily, we grew accustomed to the smell by the 3rd day and it no longer became an issue. The breakfast terrace is delightful and the staff could not be more helpful. They were friendly and attentive, from the reception desk to the dining room. Wifi is free, but unfortunately I could not connect with my iPhone in the guest room (although my laptop reached a fair-strong signal consistently). I ended up camping in the hallways or stairwell to connect to Skype or Instagram...a mild inconvenience but not terribly troublesome. The rooms are small, with very small beds but overall quite neat in a compact and tidy sort of way. And the TV received movie channels in English! Ok, so that doesn't really sound like a huge deal but after dealing with Italian channels all trip long, straight-to-video B movies were a freaking godsend.

Yelp
My husband, 12 year old daughter, and I stayed at the Hotel Columbia for 4 nights Monday June 9 - Thursday June 12, 2014. Hotel Columbia was one of the hotels recommended by our travel agent. To get the best rate, we prepaid 692 Euros for the 4 nights. From FCO airport, we took a white taxi and paid the 48 Euro fixed rate to Rome, to our hotel. Don't let a so called "supervisor" tell you that a taxi will cost 70 Euros and that you should take a bus or shuttle. They will lie to you to get your money. After a 40 minute drive, we arrive Hotel Columbia, which is close to the Opera House, and not too far from Termini Station. We were greeted by Verena, who so warm and welcoming. She tells us that we booked a standard room, but we were upgraded to a superior room on the 2nd floor, room 204. She gives us a map to give us some familiarity of the city. Our room is small, but fine. There are two twin beds put together, and another twin bed for our daughter. The bathroom is nice and clean. There's a laundry line in the shower. Toiletries provided are: 3 sets of soap, 3 shampoos, 3 sets of toothbrushes & toothpastes, 3 shower caps, 3 nail files, and a sewing kit. There is a television, and a small refrigerator, a couple of shelves, two end tables on either side of the beds, and a desk with a chair. In the closet, there's many wooden hangers, a mini ironing board, a show valet, several drawers, and a safe for you to program a personal code. They offer laundry services at mainly 6 euros per item of clothing. The hotel provides free breakfast on its 5the floor rooftop terrace Monday - Friday 7 - 10am. There's different hours on the weekend. We met Jean, who will prepare and bring you your drinks. We had cappuccino every morning!. The breakfast has a nice spread of breads, croissants, butter, cheese, meats, jelly preserves, hard boiled egg, Greek yogurt, fruit cocktail, figs, cereals, oats, granola. Drinks are grapefruit juice, orange juice, milk, and water. Also, there's free wifi that Verena gave each of us three separate codes. The wifi was pretty good.

Yelp
Very good for the money. Highly convenient in terms of location as it is a few minutes walk from Termini. The staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful. They even noticed that one morning we didn't have breakfast. When we told them that we were leaving the hotel early the second morning too, they offered us breakfast items to be delivered to our room the night before. They helped us tremendously with finding restaurants and any other landmarks in the city and how to get there. This is one of the few times that we will miss the staff of a hotel after leaving. Finally, a couple of important points: the hotel is clean and the 5th floor terrace is very nice. We loved this hotel.

Yelp
Great Location and the front desk at Hotel Columbia were awesome. Breakfast was just okay
