Google
Great stay, super convenient location Honestly, this was a really good hotel, especially for a 3-star. You know you're not getting a ton of extras, but this place delivered on what matters. The location was awesome. We could walk to most of the main attractions in about 15-20 minutes. Plus, being a 10-minute walk from the Termini train station made getting from the airport super easy. The room itself was small, but it was very clean. The bed was comfy and the AC was a lifesaver. The only slightly weird part was the bathroom. The layout was a bit odd and the shower wasn't great, but it was totally manageable and not a deal-breaker. What really stood out was the staff – they were amazing and went out of their way to be helpful. The breakfast that was included had a pretty good selection too, buffet style. Overall, a solid choice.

Great location. Comfortable room. Nice breakfast. Amazing staff who know their city! Perfect directions all week to get where we needed to be by bus, metro or taxi. Metro 2 short blocks. They can call a metered taxi and it is there in less than 5 minutes. Really enjoyed our stay!

This hotel was perfect for us. The rooms are small by American standards but I think that’s typical in Europe. The staff was amazing. Very kind and always helpful if you have questions. The breakfast every morning on the roof terrace was lovely. They have a pretty good variety of foods available and even cappuccino. We were located near several restaurants as well as the A and B lines for the metro and the Termini train station. It’s a little bit of a walk to all the sites but doable. We did use the metro to cut down on some of the walking.

First the positive-the location was pretty good. Near the train station and not far from big attractions. The breakfast was above average. They served scrambled eggs (not great but scrambled eggs nonetheless) and the rest of the breakfast was pretty solid as well. ||For the negative-first let me mention the shower. This thing was a deathtrap that would never pass inspection in the U.S. Instead of the shower head being on one end wall or the other, like it was on the side wall. And not centered either-right over the drain. So you have to stand on the drain and your feet are in a very tight space. If you move your feet at all-you are at risk of cartwheeling over the edge of the shower. Very dangerous. Second, the bed pillows. They were so soft, there was no point to them. My head was directly on the mattress. I had to stack up some shirts for head support. Finally, they really tried to nickel and dime us. Despite a bill of $1800 for 6 nights, the lady that checked us out fought with us over a $5 charge for a cookie that they had put out on the desk with no warning note (not if the cabinet/fridge with other pay of items). It appeared to us as a welcoming gift but nope. A $5 trap waiting to happen. And a heads up-you are not allowed to leave the hotel with your room key. They don't trust you to not lose it. You have to leave it at reception and pick it back up from them when you return. ||This was our first trip to Rome so nothing for us to compare this hotel against there for us, but I have to assume there are much better options available at this price point around town. We strongly do not recommend.

This is my second time staying at the Hotel Columbia, since the first time I felt like I was home, the warmth of the staff, hospitality, good vibes, kindness and excellent service surrounded my stay. Nazli, Aurora, Angela and many others were always on top of us making us feel like family. This property is close to a train station, bus station, good restaurants and Teatro Ópera. Breakfast is included and very complete, croissants, biscuits, eggs, cheese, yogourt, cappuccinos and more, including lots of love when they serve you! Thank you Columbia, I will carry you in my mind and heart as one of the best hotel experiences I have ever lived! Ciao amore!!!

Very pleased with the hotel and especially the service. Room was a little small but large bathroom and closet and great location and included breakfast. Excellent service by all staff members. Directions, holding our bags before and after our stay. Highly recommend.

A business runs on its people, and the staff at Hotel Columbia were friendly, helpful and always accommodating. The hotel itself has a great location within 5 minutes walk from Termini, Rome's central transport hub, although equally many sights can be walked with comfort. The hotel is not luxury, but is clean and comfortable. Breakfast is simple but adequate. Overall it's great value for what you get. I would happily stay here again

Yelp
Our family of three stayed here for 8 nights recently and are very happy with our stay. What a warm, welcoming environment from the moment we walked in! Every staff member that we encountered went above and beyond to make sure we had a comfortable stay. The hotel is not modern but it has so much charm. They give you one key for the room that is attached to a heavy tassel which you turn in every time you leave. There is someone at the front desk 24 hours/day so you just retrieve it when you come back. We found that no matter who was manning the front desk, they always recognized you and retrieved the correct key seemingly before being told your name/room number! They also have a wonderful daily breakfast on the beautiful rooftop terrace and the staff, there, were also phenomenal! The offer an assortment of croissants, bread, tortes, cakes, cold cuts, cheeses, tomatoes, yogurt, fruit, cereals, scrambled eggs, and more! One of the ladies there spoiled us with deliciously foamy, extra cappuccinos each morning. They even provided "to go" breakfast bags for us when we had to get up very early for a tour. We also enjoyed evening drinks on the terrance. It was really pleasant because we were entertained by someone singing from the restaurant across the street! We stayed in a "family" room with two floors. That made it nice for our adult daughter who had a room upstairs to herself. Our room overall was very clean and the beds were comfortable with a large bathroom. The night before checking out, we were surprised with a knock on the door. We were greeted with a platter of cookies and a kind note thanking us for staying with them. How sweet!

Yelp
Patricia, the owner, along with the rest of her staff were absolutely delightful. This hotel is super close to the Roma Termini train station...about a 3-5 minute walk. It's located amongst some great restaurants, and one of the best pizza places I've ever been to (recommended by the staff). Our room was clean, spacious and welcoming. The rooftop terrace was relaxing, and the drinks are the best we've had in all of Europe (with excellent prices to match). I honestly cannot say enough wonderful things about this hotel.

Yelp
The front desk staff at Hotel Columbia was awesome. They made our stay simple and fun. The room comes with a complimentary breakfast, which was a great way to start the morning. In the evening the breakfast room serves beer, wine and snacks on the deck. They are all at reasonable prices, especially considering it is Rome. The rooms are large and the bathrooms are nice. The mattresses are very firm, too firm for my wife. The location worked great for us. This hotel is a short walk from the Termini and Republicca subway stations. This made it simple to reach the hotel coming into and leaving Rome. It is also right by the national museum Palazzo Massimo.

Yelp
We requested a non-smoking room for the 5 night stay and the room reeked so painfully of cigarette smoke, that even my smoking traveling companion was offended. Luckily, we grew accustomed to the smell by the 3rd day and it no longer became an issue. The breakfast terrace is delightful and the staff could not be more helpful. They were friendly and attentive, from the reception desk to the dining room. Wifi is free, but unfortunately I could not connect with my iPhone in the guest room (although my laptop reached a fair-strong signal consistently). I ended up camping in the hallways or stairwell to connect to Skype or Instagram...a mild inconvenience but not terribly troublesome. The rooms are small, with very small beds but overall quite neat in a compact and tidy sort of way. And the TV received movie channels in English! Ok, so that doesn't really sound like a huge deal but after dealing with Italian channels all trip long, straight-to-video B movies were a freaking godsend.

Yelp
My husband, 12 year old daughter, and I stayed at the Hotel Columbia for 4 nights Monday June 9 - Thursday June 12, 2014. Hotel Columbia was one of the hotels recommended by our travel agent. To get the best rate, we prepaid 692 Euros for the 4 nights. From FCO airport, we took a white taxi and paid the 48 Euro fixed rate to Rome, to our hotel. Don't let a so called "supervisor" tell you that a taxi will cost 70 Euros and that you should take a bus or shuttle. They will lie to you to get your money. After a 40 minute drive, we arrive Hotel Columbia, which is close to the Opera House, and not too far from Termini Station. We were greeted by Verena, who so warm and welcoming. She tells us that we booked a standard room, but we were upgraded to a superior room on the 2nd floor, room 204. She gives us a map to give us some familiarity of the city. Our room is small, but fine. There are two twin beds put together, and another twin bed for our daughter. The bathroom is nice and clean. There's a laundry line in the shower. Toiletries provided are: 3 sets of soap, 3 shampoos, 3 sets of toothbrushes & toothpastes, 3 shower caps, 3 nail files, and a sewing kit. There is a television, and a small refrigerator, a couple of shelves, two end tables on either side of the beds, and a desk with a chair. In the closet, there's many wooden hangers, a mini ironing board, a show valet, several drawers, and a safe for you to program a personal code. They offer laundry services at mainly 6 euros per item of clothing. The hotel provides free breakfast on its 5the floor rooftop terrace Monday - Friday 7 - 10am. There's different hours on the weekend. We met Jean, who will prepare and bring you your drinks. We had cappuccino every morning!. The breakfast has a nice spread of breads, croissants, butter, cheese, meats, jelly preserves, hard boiled egg, Greek yogurt, fruit cocktail, figs, cereals, oats, granola. Drinks are grapefruit juice, orange juice, milk, and water. Also, there's free wifi that Verena gave each of us three separate codes. The wifi was pretty good.

Yelp
Very good for the money. Highly convenient in terms of location as it is a few minutes walk from Termini. The staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful. They even noticed that one morning we didn't have breakfast. When we told them that we were leaving the hotel early the second morning too, they offered us breakfast items to be delivered to our room the night before. They helped us tremendously with finding restaurants and any other landmarks in the city and how to get there. This is one of the few times that we will miss the staff of a hotel after leaving. Finally, a couple of important points: the hotel is clean and the 5th floor terrace is very nice. We loved this hotel.

Great Location and the front desk at Hotel Columbia were awesome. Breakfast was just okay
