Pictures on the website are deceiving. Unless you book a room with a front facing balcony, they only have 1 you can enjoy off the dining room. It has a table an two bar stools and is very very tight. The photo's of the rooms are accurate. The bathroom is newer. The room needs updating. Everything else needs help. The hallways were very old. All inclusive is another deceiving statement. They did have a beer keg. They had wine hidden in a fridge. We arrived late, after 9pm. The food as part of the all inclusive was salad, olives, and cold pasta and sauce you needed to microwave. The hotel had a lot of security. You needed to be buzzed in and out of hallways. You had to leave your room key at the desk if you left the hotel. The security I guess was nice but made me feel really unsafe in the location. There were a lot of mirrors everywhere to try and make the place look larger than it was. Staff was friendly. LaRambla was a huge disappointment. Not something the hotel can control but lots of homeless, trash, empty beer cans right outside the hotel. I'm really not to picky when it comes to hotels. I just needed somewhere to stay the night before a cruise. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone. Maybe this would be ok for $50 for the night. Not for the $200+ for the night. I've stayed at Motel 6's that were nicer than this place.

Perfect location, very central, we had a balcony overlooking La Ramblas. This hotel is full of character and the buffet was good too! As a family we loved sitting in the little terrace at the back of the property. Reception staff in particular Vivienne was lovely and very helpful. I would recommend this hotel for its central location and clean rooms.

First of all I would like to say the staff were friendly enough and the breakfast offering was decent. A lot of choice and plenty of it too. Our room had a balcony and looked over La Rambla and the free Wifi was also good.||However, we paid a lot of money for a room with a balcony. The room given to us (room 144) had been created from half of a dining/seating area by the look of things. We think a mirrored stud wall and door had been put in to create the room, leaving half of the dining/seating area for people to still use. And so every morning we were woken up at 7am when breakfast started (whether we wanted to be awake or not by people sitting in this area eating, drinking, chatting, kids shouting). The door to our room opened outwards and so when we ventured out to grab a coffee, it opened to a room full of people having their breakfast, all looking at us! Also one morning when I ventured out for a coffee, someone thought it was a good idea to leave all the suitcases in this dining/seating area for guests who I think were departing for a cruise & so when I pushed the door open, it was blocked by suitcases. On return, I had to move more suitcases to get back in the room! As well as just being plain wrong, it is a fire hazard for anyone who is not fit and able. A totally overpriced, shabby hotel and we would never return.

We had a cruise out of Barcelona and flew in one day early. I spent a lot of time looking at reviews of hotels. I wanted to stay close to La Rambla and because of certain things I chose Hotel Continental. Please reconsider before spending your money here.|PROS - Location. On La Rambla (which was disappointing) and near transportation.| Front desk staff were very kind, patient and welcoming.|CONS - Everything else. One reason I chose this hotel was the advertised 24 hour buffet. This was an absolute joke ! Nothing but fruit, dried bread , and a few things to put on a salad. At breakfast it was the same thing along with boiled eggs and fried ham, could not get the coffee machine to work. Beyond disappointing.| Hotel is extremely old and run down (perhaps this part of its appeal to some). Carpet old and dirty, wallpaper beyond horrible, carpet going up stairs had rips on each step. | I know that European hotel rooms are small but this was so tiny there was actually no where to put suitcases except the floor. Strangely in contrast the bathroom and shower were HUGE with so much wasted space !| There were several hotels in the area that were much nicer so please do yourself a favor and don’t stay here.

It was our first time in Barcelona and we loved it. The hotel Continental was a large part of us loving our trip because it was a great base to explore the city from. We could always come back to the hotel to grab a bite to eat, soda to drink, and to fill up our water bottles. Loved the rooms, and the free food all day. Great place to stay in the city. Great price, great service, great atmosphere and wonderful staff. Anthony

Google
Fantastic experience, perfect location, 24hour buffet was a hit! Everything about the hotel is fantastic! The location was perfect if you like to stay in touristy places with easy access to public transportation. The gothic quarter was also just a stone throw away from the hotel. 24hr buffet with decent food and beer, wine, soft drinks etc. was a big advantage after a long day of travel in the city. Staff was friendly, room was cozy. Special thanks to the hotel staff for offering us an upgrade with champagne for our honeymoon.

Google
Stayed 2 nights. It's a "quirky" hotel but has a lot of great things going for it. Location is perfect for people watching and for getting around the city as there are buses and the Metro at their doorstep. We took the Aero Bus from the airport and it's a 3 minute walk to the hotel. The room we had was large and air-conditioned. Not all rooms were as large as ours however (room 370) and some were quite small. Our room also had a balcony at the front that we paid a little more for (recommended). They also have a few rooms on the first floor next to the public areas including reception. I would avoid all those rooms. One of the rooms opens directly into the dining space where you eat breakfast. The hotel has available round the clock snacks, beer and wine. They also have great coffee - all of it available 24 hours a day and free!! The staff were super friendly. I highly recommend this hotel when staying in Barcelona.

Google
Great central location on La Rambla. Buffet and drinks were nice, and are included for the whole day. Wifi was good. However, the room was very small and no natural light. Felt a bit like a luxury jail cell. Make sure to choose a "balcony room" if you want to see the sun.

Yelp
So many great things to say about this hotel! First of all, amazing location- right on La Rambla, which is always bustling with people and so close to shops, Gothic Quarter, La Boqueria Market and so much more. We had a room towards the back of the hotel so didn't hear much noise at night (can't speak to rooms closer to the street). The staff is so friendly and helpful all the time. One of the people at reception gave some great recommendations. They have a fairly extensive free breakfast every morning starting early, and other food available throughout the day. Also, free wine and beer all day!! Can't beat that! The room we stayed in was a bit older, but had that cute boutique feel, and the bathroom was super nice and looked as if it was just redone. I'll say the walls are thin so be mindful of that, but I'd definitely come back!

Yelp
Hotel Barcelona was just ok due to many issues and navigating to get to the property. First off there is no direct drop off or access in front of the hotel due to Las Ramblas street construction. You get dropped off at the end of the street and have to lug all your luggage etc...a whole city block to get entry. The front desk person wasn't that cheerful during check-in. The buffet is nice for beverages and light breakfast rolls etc.. The food just sits out all day although they do keep it chilled/heated. It's just basic. Our room was nice and spacious however they didn't fill the shower soap dispenser and there was no bar soap provided. I was very mad when I got in the shower at 5am and there was no soap! For the money paid, no direct access, no one at the entrance to help you with your luggage, little or no toiletries, I wouldn't stay here again. The draw of the buffet and beverages is not enough for us to stay here again even when the construction is finished!

Yelp
Check in was annoying as the space to stand is limited and it takes a long time. Rooms are good, clean and enough space. The 24 hour buffet excels in that there are constant free drinks. The food sits there and we didn't eat it. There are croissants etc that are good. The coffee is great. The location is great except there is road construction so you have to walk to the corner with your suitcases to get a taxi. I personally would try a different hotel if I came back.

Yelp
I had a wedding scheduled for March 22, 2020 in Barcelona. These plans were as definitive as can be, so my family booked a nonrefundable reservation. Unfortunately, these grand plans were torn asunder by the Covid-19 pandemic. Countries locked down (including Spain), and we were not allowed to board our Iberia flight. The next step was endeavoring to sort through refunds. We had no trouble getting refunds from AirBNB and other hotels in Barcelona. The only hotel that refused to give us a refund (and continues to do so) is this one. Normally when a force majeure event occurs, a company acknowledges that the contract is voided and issues a refund. Not this hotel! They have demonstrated no understanding or empathy for the situation and insist on keeping our money. They offered me a voucher for 75% of the value of the reservation (not even the full amount), but it doesn't make sense to wait indefinitely to have my wedding in Barcelona! My (now) wife and I made other plans rather than wait months/years for our big day. The point of this sad tale: take your business to a hotel that actually cares about its guests and comprehends what a global pandemic is. I.e. not this one.

Yelp
I stayed here last year before a Mediterranean cruise embarking in Barcelona. I took the trip alone, but I had befriended so many other people from my cruise on a cruise forum website, and decided to stay here because many others were staying there. The hotel shares a building with another business, but they only have the first floor. The second floor on upward all belong to the hotel. The hotel is in a prime location, near the beginning of the famed Las Ramblas street. And let me tell you, if you like nightlife, Barcelona is the city for you! There was something going on until all hours of the night. Whatever your fancy, Las Ramblas has something for everyone - be it the waterfront, shopping, Tapas restaurants, bars, etc. The hotel was very nice, and the staff very friendly. I loved how they had a 24 hour tapas buffet to eat (breads, pretzels, meats (ham, wings), pastas). My favorite part? Free beer and wine all day/all night - just grab a glass and pour yourself a cup! My room was a very tiny room, but the hotel had already told me before I arrived I had a smaller than normal room, and I received it at a discount. All my friends joked and insisted on seeing the "closet" I stayed in. I didn't mind - it had a nice bed, a bathroom, and a shower - that was all I needed. Although, I will say it did have the ceiling-fan-of-death! The ceiling fan had so much power, I really thought it would fly off the ceiling! It didn't, thankfully. One thing I found kind of unique about the hotel was the key. The key was large, and had a large piece of wood attached to it. This made carrying around the key difficult, but the front desk had a solution - when you left the hotel, you dropped off the key to the front desk. Upon returning, you simply picked your key back up. If you are looking for a place to stay on Las Ramblas, I highly suggest you try out Hotel Continental. There are two locations, do not get this confused with their other hotel Hotel Continental Palacete. While this may not be a 4 or 5 star hotel, it is definitely worth a stay. The next time I am in Barcelona, I will stay here.

Yelp
Amazing service, the front desk is so nice. The food is okay, but because of convince to grab an espresso or drink in the evening it's well worth it! Perfect location right at the start of the ramblas, next to the metro and Catalunya. Love this hotel and will stay again!

Yelp
The hotel was fantastic! The room was nice, the bathroom was spotless and well appointed but the true beauty was the balcony overlooking La Ramblas and the heartbeat of the city. The hotel is also right at the "top" of the Ramblas giving us easy access to the activities in the park at the end. The 24 hour buffet was really nice for breakfast or snacks and also had wine and beers available (Coffee Tea and soft drink too of course). The staff was very friendly and helpful. If we ever return to Barcelona we will assuredly stay with them again. Thank you for a wonderful stay

Yelp
Loved finding this little treasure of a boutique hotel; paid a little more for a balcony facing Las Ramblas; room was clean; bathrm was updated; free continental+ breakfast everyday; free coffee, tea, soda, beer beverages out 24 hrs; I loved the personal feel, of only 42 rooms; the front desk holds your key for you, when you leave the property; there's is a charming courtyard out back to sit & have a free drink; there are computers Avbl & front desk will print out boarding passes; they also have brochures for tourist info.

Yelp
one of the best surprise find in Barcellona. Staffs - receptionists, kitchen and others were just all smiles and cordial. Stayed at suite overlooking La Rambla and comfortable open space to just relax. Food, cheese, coldcuts, beer, wine, snacks available 24hrs. Fresh breakfast was also nice. Great deal in La Rambla. Very good value - can't buy better smiles and cordial staffs in Barcellona.

Yelp
So, first thing first - when George Orwell and his wife came to Barcelona during the Spanish civil to help the fight against Fascism, they stayed here. At the time, the hotel had been collectivized and was being run democratically by the workers. Orwell went off to the front to fight with one of the militias and his wife stayed here for months while working with the Anti-fascist coalition government. That bit of history is why I booked here. History aside, there's a fair bit to recomend here. Their free breakfast bar stays open 24/7 if you want a snack and it even includes free beer on tap and a open air patio. Not too shabby! On the down side, the place's age is showing and the lobby's all have that musty old carpet smell. Back on the up side, it's cheap (by US standards at least) so it's easy to tolerate it being a bit worn around the edges. The room itself probably didn't look much different when Orwell was here, except the bathroom which has recently remodeled in tile. The bed is nice enough and the room is clean. The key is attached to a big wooden stick and you have to leave it it the front desk when you leave the place and pick it up when you come back. Awesome location. Come for the history, stay for the kitsch.

Yelp
You have to file this hotel under "it is what is." Clean room, great location, free breakfast and snacks and affordable price. It is quirky as can be and you have to have a sense of humour to make a success of your stay. Sample vignette: we summoned the elevator, it came, the door opened and an unaccompanied wiener dog got off and trotted down the hall. Definitely not the Hilton. We would come back.

Yelp
This was a great stay for it's location and price. Located three stories above La Rambla, this space appears to be two buildings fused together with chewing gum. There are some odd steps and funky carpet covering the space where it comes together, but if you can overlook that you can appreciate the Hotel Continental. Staff is friendly, helpful, professional and everyone we came in contact with spoke English with ease. The breakfast/snack buffet is always available to you, plus coffee, beer and wine which we enjoyed. It's nice to have the opportunity to have a snack and a beverage while getting ready to head out for the evening, and for that the Hotel Continental was one of the more convenient stays we had in Spain.

Yelp
Great place. Stayed here a few times on business trips through Spain. Clean rooms, great breakfasts, staff that relate well to foreigners like me :)

Yelp
We stayed there two weeks a ago. Excellent location and excellent service. Breakfast buffet was great.
