I first booked the superior room, when I got in aircon was not working, there was a strange noise from the nearby building, I asked to change the room.
It was late at night the receptionist told me that they already upgraded my room to the one with the inward balcony (the building has an indoor area), so he offered me a real superior room with no window…
Or upgrade to a suite for extra money… so I had to pay extra $150 for my stay to get the Opera room. The receptionist gave me the last room at the end of the floor, so again the balcony overlooked the nearby building, and has some strange noise, aircon was working. Receptionist told me it was their best room, hahaha! The best room is Opera suite located in the beginning of the corridor, not the end, as it has a nice view on the Opera.
Anyways, the room was still nice, good bathroom with a bathtub.
Breakfast was so-so, no croissants, and small variety of fruits and western options, but lots of Asian options like soups.
When I was staying there the hotel celebrated 145 year anniversary on the 27th of September. It was nice to stay for a few nights, to touch the history, but for one time. Next time I’m in Sai Gon I’ll go for another more comfortable option.
