This is a well-maintained older building in the centre of Braşov. The hotel has a vintage interior (see my photos) and the rooms are spacious. The breakfast room is stunning. The hotel’s character comes from its design features.||||The hotel has an access ramp which is good if you have bulky luggage or if you’re differently abled. Unfortunately, the front door of the hotel opens outwards so that will be difficult to navigate if you have bulky luggage or are differently abled.||||Once you check in, you will be handed a literal key (not a key card) to your room. You can either keep this with you at all times or give it to reception whenever you leave the hotel. You can access your room via the stairs or the lift. If you can, I recommend taking the stairs at least once to see the hotel’s stained glass windows (or you can check out my photos). If you take the lift, know that it has two doors: the regular sliding doors that all lists have, and a metal outer door which you have to pull open to access the lift. Again, this can be tricky to navigate if you have lots of luggage or if you have limited mobility. The lift is also quite small. Two adults with one piece of checked luggage and one carry- on bag each fit snuggly inside.||||Upstairs, the hotel looks a little dated (think of it as character) but is clean and functional. The rooms are spacious and the beds are comfortable. There is a fridge in the room but no complimentary drinks or snacks are provided. I don’t think it is customary to provide complimentary snacks in Romanian hotels. ||||The only toiletries that are provided are toilet paper and soap. Everything else is BYO. There is no hairdryer in the room but you can borrow one from reception. The water in the shower can take a few minutes to warm up (think of it as more character). ||||The hotel has free wifi but it is only accessible from the reception area (think of this as even more character). The reception area is spacious and has a number of chairs and tables for your convenience. It also has a piano if you’re feeling musical. ||||Breakfast is served on the ground floor in the most grandiose breakfast room I have ever seen. (Character! See my photos!) On the first two days, we were given a breakfast menu to order from but on the third day, there was a breakfast buffet from which everyone helped themselves (CHARACTER!). There was a wide range of food to choose from including eggs, hot and cold meats, cheese, vegetables and bread. There is coffee but you have to ask for tea. Tea is not a very popular Romanian drink (this is national character) so while I was given a reasonable selection of fruity teas, there was no black tea. If you think of this as character rather than an inconvenience, you will enjoy your stay.
