Hotel Costa Del Sol Wyndham Cusco

This is a beautiful old structure with a fantastic courtyard. It is just about 3 blocks from the city square where you can shop 'til you drop. I didn't like that there was a big step up to the bath and the rooms are small. The restaurant is in the basement, but is nice. The breakfast was a buffet and many young people were there very early. We just took our time as we were not in any hurry. We walked to a small vegetarian restaurant about 8 minutes away. It was quiet for sleeping as we had a room on the backside of the hotel. It literally sits right at the sidewalk on a busy street.

Enjoyed our stay. Great breakfast. The rooms were nice and the center courtyard was a great place to hang out, have something to drink and enjoy the beautiful weather. The staff was very attentive and helpful.

Our server was Eby and he was superb. The only set back, which can be easily improved by the hotel, is to inform its guests “loud and clear” that the entrance to the hotel is closed around 10:00-10:30PM for safety. We were unaware of that and the 1st night after returning from a lovely dinner & walk we found ourselves outside and confused. Luckily another guest arrived and called her companion who informed the front desk to open the door. The employee who open the door commented that there was a bell to ring, but honestly the location of the bell is not the best to easily see it, it was a little dark, and anyway we were not expecting the entrance to the hotel to be closed. But again this is something that can be easily addressed.

The hotel is very nice but has a major issue - hot water oscillating between hot and cold, which is unacceptable for a 4-star hotel. We booked the hotel pre and post a 6-day hike and the water issue was experienced in both rooms, suggesting it is a hotel-wide issue. Other than the hot water issue, the hotel is great. Nice rooms, good food, the staff is kind, they kept our belongings when we were on the hike and it is walking distance from everything. However, I can't really recommend paying >$160 a night for a 4 star hotel and not getting stable hot water.

Rooms on level 1 are dark. You can hear everything going on from your room. People leaving early at 4am. All room doors slam, no soft close. You can hear the water rushing when someone uses their toilet, and the beds are super firm. Breakfast was so basic, we went to the artisan bakery for freshly cooked eggs and avocado. Phew, that’s all the bad stuff. On the positive side, the staff couldn’t be more friendly and helpful and It’s spotlessly clean. I’d rate the hotel at max a 3 star. Sorry, we wouldn’t stay again, even with your amazing staff.

This hotel gets 5 stars from me. They were so kind and helpful here and the breakfast is amazing. The rooms were nice and beds/pillows comfortable. Also, Expedia made a mistake with my booking and they corrected it and didn’t charge me more. This is first class service!

Hotel Costa Del Sol is a very photogenic hotel. It once was a colonial mansion that has been refitted into a hotel. The place is very centrally located. Too bad for some of the poor reviews on here. My wife and I stayed on the 1st floor overlooking the very nice courtyard and near the restaurant. Of course, I can only speak for myself, but there was only some noise, but not enough to be bothersome. Very clean and spacious rooms. A welcome drink was a nice touch. We were served coca tea upon arrival, and there was a tea station near the entrance. Breakfast options were very impressive. Recommended.
