This is a beautiful little hotel with a wonderful secluded garden. The staff were all very helpful and welcoming, even getting us a great early breakfast before the normal breakfast start because we had to leave early to catch a flight. It is a short walk to the Cathedral and other central areas. The room was very clean with a great view overlooking the garden area. We would certainly stay here again.

we stayed 3 nights in July 2025, with another couple. the rooms are very clean, comfortable, and interesting. we can't say enough about the staff, especially Maria and Sylvia, who couldn't stop looking for ways to help us out, all with a friendly smile. we will stay at Costa Vella the next time we are in Santiago, hopefully soon. it's bett good value for the money.

What a find. An oasis after a long Camiño walk. Silvia, Robert and the rest of the staff make this a very special place to stay. They couldn’t be kinder or more attentive. The terrace is a delight. A wonderful place to while away a few hours listening to the birds and reading. A must stay if you’re in Santiago. Don’t let the 2 star rating fool you. This hotel is an exceptional jewel.

I stayed here last leg of my camino trip as organised by a tour group. All I can say is wow wow wow what a hidden gem that I will always remember. From Roberto who met us at check in and explained and looked after our every need to maria at check out the next day they could not do enough for us. All staff were friendly and chatty . Both evening meal and breakfast were amazing with the nicest flavoursome freshest food and most amazing coffee, both were ate in the most beautiful urban garden setting. My only regret was that I wasn't staying for longer. I will definitely be returning. Thank you to all at Hotel costa Vella until we meet again🌺

Yelp
Hands down, this is the best hotel in Santiago! Get a room with a gallery overlooking the courtyard if you can. Clean rooms, comfortable beds, free wifi. Bathrooms have luxurious rain head showers. At check-in, we received a book by the hotel on where to eat, drink and what to see in town. Very thoughtful! The courtyard is fantastic. We loved having our wine, breakfast and afternoon coffee outside among the apple & lemon trees while listening to the tranquil fountain. By far, this is the best hospitality I've ever received when traveling. Javier & Roberto went above and beyond during the booking process. Once there, Javier helped us make dinner reservations, answered all our questions, and provided some laughs. I loved their Tarta de Santiago so much, Javier even ordered one for me upon request. You can tell that the employees here are very passionate about the hotel. The hotel is in walking distance to all the main sites. Discounted parking is nearby. Definitely stay here!

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem in Santiago. It was recommended by a local when asked where we could have a quick drink and man were we impressed. We sat at the terrace and had a beer, it was very crowded (like no tables available crowded) and still service was quick and efficient. It's a very warm and cozy terrace that transports you to a whole different era! It's beautiful.

Yelp
An excellently run hotel set just where you want it to be. Located juuuust on the edge of the historical centre, Hotel Costa Vella is right near the action yet away from noisy, if you know what I mean. Between the room decor, the dutiful service and the green garden where you will enjoy a satisfyingly simple yet considered breakfast each morning - this place has charm in spades. Treat yourself to a couple of nights stay here after the Camino - perfect!

Yelp
What a quaint place! We arrived to the hotel early- 9am. They were unable to give us our rooms early but took our number down to message us when the rooms were ready. They gave us a map of the town and pointed out some of the sites to visit- it was so helpful! If you come on a Saturday, make sure to visit the Farmer's Market. We came back to the hotel after a couple hours of walking and exploring. Our room still wasn't quite ready, so we went to the little cafe attached to the hotel. Once our room was ready, the hotel rep came to let us know. I felt like everyone from the hotel was attentive and thoughtful. The room is cozy, clean, and peaceful. We took a midday nap and it was perfect. There were even extra blankets in the closet. I would consider returning if we ever came again.

Yelp
Costa Vella was an amazing find in Santiago de Compostela. It has a great location, just a couple of minutes from the main square, and it has a wonderful garden which you can sit in for breakfast, tea, drinks basically any time of the day. The staff were friendly and helpful, and, when I pestered them with questions about where I should go, they helpfully brought out a guide to the city as written by the hotel, and updated every month. And this was so much better than your typical run-of-the-mill guidebook as it included secrets only locals would know! When I stayed here in May, I was given a room on the top floor and I was thrilled to discover that this came with a skylight where I had a great view over the city. For the record, I paid EUR52 for a single room. This did not include breakfast, which was EUR5.50. If you're staying here, I'd recommend trying their breakfast at least once. It includes the usual continental-style breakfast foodstuffs (e.g. croissants, jam, etc.) but it also comes with a selection of Spanish cheeses. I got the impression I could eat as much as I wanted, and they wouldn't mind. And one last tip: I paid in cash and got a bit of a discount. I can't remember what it was - but it definitely wasn't tiny.
