The Best Hotels in Copenhagen, From a Boutique Urban Retreat to a Repurposed Brewery

"More Copenhagen hotels we recommend Checking into a floating hotel isn't for everyone, but doing so at CPH LIVING yields rewards. A German-built barge that was extended in Poland and Estonia before finding new life as a hotel parked on a quay in Copenhagen’s city center, this family-owned property offers a unique look at the city through a distinctly maritime lens. The 12 rooms are clean-lined and simply adorned with wooden floors, Danish furniture, and original aquatic-inspired paintings by the hotel’s co-owner. Yet the star of each room is, of course, the panoramic view of the water and the city beyond." - Lauren Jade Hill

Hotel CPH Living

"Wait, a houseboat?Checking into a floating hotel isn't for everyone, but doing so at CPH Living yields rewards. A German-built barge that was extended in Poland and Estonia before finding new life as a hotel parked on a quay in Copenhagen’s city center, this family-owned property offers a unique look at the city through a distinctly maritime lens. So the rooms are, like, boat cabins? The 12 rooms are clean-lined and simply adorned with wooden floors, Danish furniture, and original aquatic-inspired paintings by the hotel’s co-owner. Yet the star of each room is, of course, the panoramic view of the water and the city beyond. Harbor sightlines also fill the bathroom—a perk while showering—which is rather appropriately decked out with green and blue glass. Any food options on the boat? How's the galley? There's a no-frills free breakfast. Why is this boat so appealing for visitors to Copenhagen?Sustainable-minded guests will appreciate the fact that this boatel reduces carbon emissions by employing a geothermal heating system. After a bit of sightseeing, relax on one of the sunbeds on the plant-strewn rooftop terrace. Would you recommend it to a friend? It’s 15 minutes from Copenhagen Central Station, but CPH Living's waterside location feels decidedly removed from the rest of the city. If you you're up for an unconventional hotel, this a warm, unforgettable choice." - Alia Akkam

This was a really good spot to stay in Copenhagen. Great location, although a little noisy (bring earplugs or use some from reception). Very convenient for catching the bus to the other bits of the city. Lovely being on the water - I had a swan and her eight cygnets outside my window. There’s a great ice cream place, and a super smørrebrød shop in the row of shops across from Havnebadet Islands Brygge, bring your swimming kit and swim there. ||It was good to be able to sit out on the roof terrace. The room was decent sized, plenty of room for me and my bags. I slept very well in the bed, comfortable and warm/cool enough (I was there when it was 30ºC, unusually warm for Copenhagen). The shower was good, there was only body wash, no shampoo or conditioner, so bring those if you need them! 365discount (supermarket) is close by to pick up any items you’ve forgotten.||Breakfast was basic - it had healthy options, including yogurts, fruit, and seed-based bread. Set me up for a day of sightseeing.

Interesting place to stay. Definitely quirkier than a normal hotel. Clean room, excellent view and a pleasant breakfast. If you're sharing a room with someone be aware the glass bathroom door is a little on the see through side... S

We had a wonderful wonderful stay at hotel CHP Living! The rooms were clean and comfortable with amazing views out onto the canal. The location was perfect – right on the canal, steps from the pedestrian bridge and close to public transportation (both metro and bus). The Continental breakfast has a nice assortment of meats, cheeses, yogurt, and baked goods. The all day, coffee and tea were great too! We highly recommend this hotel and will definitely stay here again!

Stayed for 3 nights in January and it was an absolute delight! We hopped off a flight from Australia in the morning and arrived at the hotel by 9am with the intention to leave our luggage at reception and to return in the afternoon to check in. But bless Henrik at reception- he let us check in early which allowed us to freshen up after our long flight! Free flow coffee and hot cocoa was a blessing too, especially after learning they cost twice the price of that in Australia! My husband loved the free breakfast, which Henrik let us help ourselves to when we arrived our first morning! Nothing fancy but we could still make a smørrebrød of cheese & danish salami, have a blueberry danish and yoghurt with museli before starting on our day every morning! And when we wanted to embrace hygge and stay in, the view of the river from our room was stunning!

We had a wonderful stay in this hotel. The front desk attendant Rose was very welcoming and friendly. She took really good care of us and even book our hotel transfer for us. She also came in a little early to make sure breakfast was ready before we depart. The rooms are very nice and the views are spectacular. Breakfast is very good and the location is unbeatable. Overall it was a great experience and it was highlighted by the great customer service provided by Rose. We will definitely return and will recommend this hotel to family and friends.

We booked this hotel through lucky trips and didn't really know what to expect! We arrived early for check in and the hotel was happy to take our bags and put them in our room as we went exploring. The room was lovely and spacious, and warm. Breakfast was delicious. We were made to feel so welcome. The only thing I would say is a slight negative is the window/door of the bathroom, which you can see in through and as we were travelling as friends, this was maybe a little bit more intimate than we were prepared for! The view from the room was lovely, and we enjoyed sitting on the roof of an evening.

Great floating hotel with just 12 rooms and is something a bit different.||Great location - within walking distance of the centre of the city and lots of main attractions. Tivoli Gardens 15 minutes away.||OK sized rooms (this is a boat) with floor to ceiling windows overlooking the water. Bathrooms are great - not huge but have every thing you need. Lovely big walk-in showers - no baths.||Beds are super comfortable with soft pillows. ||There is no dinning area but there is a breakfast area where they serve light breakfasts - meats, cheeses, fruit, yoghurts, jams and spreads nd delicious freshly baked breads and pastries. Plenty to eat. Free coffee and tea all day - just help yourself.||There are a few stools at a counter in this area but the idea is - is to take your breakfast and sit up on the top deck where there are tables and chairs, sofas and loungers - It is a fantastic view and a great place to sit and just watch the world go by on the water.||You are welcome to buy your own food - and there is a fridge provided. There is also an honesty fridge where you can get beer, wine, soft drinks, snacks and sweets.||Order in your own food or pick something up at any of the fantastic delis or food halls and have a picnic on the top deck watching the sun go down! This really is a lovely place to relax....considering you are in the middle of a city!||The staff are fabulous - very friendly and helpful.||We stayed 5 nights and I wish we could have stayed another 5! ||There is no food served here or dining area - just the top deck so be prepared - if the weather is bad you may want to have your breakfast in your room, The rooms although not huge have a chair and table area so this would be fine.||R|Thus hotel is such a refreshing change - spoil yourself and book in for a different experience. I loved it and will be staying there again!

Amazing stay on this boat-hotel. Among the experience we appreciate sleeping on the canal in the middle of Copenhagen (super central situation), having a terrific view on the architecture buildings around and pedestrian bridges, taking our breakfast with a beautiful view above the water, being independant with the room access. What makes the difference is definitely the people ! The owners are very charismatic and nice persons. They are helpful, cheering and it's good to have a little chat with them. Thank you warmly for your welcome.|Just a recommandation, as we are in 2024, maybe an effort could be done on the breakfast to be more eco-friendly, as everything is for a single-use and food into plastic. All going to the trash at the end. A bit shocked on that, but I guess the owners try to avoid high maintenance and have their own reasons. Brainstorming required ! Otherwise, just lovely ! Grateful. I will recommend the place to my network.
